JV/V Team Camp Games @ Thomas More
I've had a chance to see Bellevue, Grant Co, Dayton, Ludlow, Beechwood, Dixie, Highlands, and Villa play so far. Grant Co has been the most impressive. They play hard nosed defense and are very physical. Ludlow is alright and have a few play makers who could make Ludlow a bit of a surprised team this year. Dixie is going to have a long year. Their offense is pretty much get the ball to Shanece Miller and let her do whatever. Dayton, Bellevue, Villa, and Beechwood could be in for a long season. Bellevue has been alright but have only been playing with 3 starters so can't really get a good gauge on them. As for Highlands they'll be fine. They have probably been the hardest working team I've seen play so far.

EKU Basketball Camp
There are two different camps. The one Bellevue is attending is from the 18th to the 21st I believe.

Indiana 97 Kentucky 79
From the box score it looks like Rice and Hill both played very well. The two comined for 25 of Kentucky's points.

Greenwood 4 Ryle 0 (State Softball Championship)
Congrats to the Greenwood Lady Gators. Keep your heads up thought Ryle. Going to back to back state championships is very impressive and you overcame a lot of adversity having to play 8 games in a 2 day span.

Northern Ky. Junior All-Star game at Thomas More
She's a good one. I was impressed with her.

Northern Ky. Junior All-Star game at Thomas More
Katie Behrens from Boone played in the junior all star game. Whitney Cundiff of NCC got the MVP in the junior all star game from the East and from the West I believe a Conner girl got the award but I'm not sure. The junior game was a pretty good game. The West jumped out to like a 16 or 17 point lead in the first half, but the East came back to cut it to 5 at halftime. Second half the West was too much and ended up winning 61-50 I believe. I was very impressed with the Conley girl from SK and the Campbell co girl (not sure of her name) on the East. From the West team, Morgan McCleese of Ryle stood out most to me and was IMO the most impressive player as she scored 8 of her team's first 8 points then the girls wouldn't pass her the ball. Kind of selfish play by both teams. In the senior All star game, I know the west won by like 20 but not sure of the score or details except that Spring Sneider of Scott had the East's first 9 points and were leading 9-0 when I left. Carmen Firth was a ball hog as well. She took her teams first 5 or 6 shots before everyone started yelling at her to pass the ball.

Ryle 5 Christian County 0
Congrats to the lady Raiders.

Nathan Jones taken in MLB draft
Wow congrats to Jones. I actually had the priveledge of playing against this kid my senior year in high school and he was just as impressive back then as he is now. Good luck at the next level.

Ryle vs. Shelby Co
I like Ryle's chances. They are really playing great ball right now and their offense is really coming around. That and having 4 potential aces to put on the mound never hurts.

East 44 West 14 (2007 NKY East/West All Star Game)
#44 is Justin Young. He's heading to Morehead State. As for the game, no surprise here. The East makes it back to back years of dominating this all star game.

Ryle 13 Somerset 6
Congrats to the Raiders. Wow what a year for both them and their softball team. No matter what happens in this next game, Ryle has done NKY proud this season and given us something to cheer about.

NKY Stadiums
Back I think in the mid to late 80's, Holmes had visitor stands where the current "Holmes wall" is but tore them out when they re-did the track. Plus Not many schools bring a big fan base on the road to Holmes. One thing's for sure, back in 2000-2001 when Englemon and James "Meechi" Jackson were there, Holmes games would be packed and Tom Ellis Stadium would be rocking.

Holmes was supposed to get field turf a few years back when Mike Farley was the coach and they were going to split the cost with HC but the HC athletic boosters didn't want to pony up their side of the money. I agree if Holmes were to get turf though, it would create a lot of excitement and get more talent out there. Kids love playing on the turf.

9th Region Title Game: CCH vs Ryle
I have to give the nod to Ryle in this. Pitching wins games and I just feel they will have more depth and experience on the mound tonight. But then again I could be wrong. CCH has a very fine program and seems to always find a way to win. One thing's for sure, this will be the best match up in the state in a regional final and IMO two of the most classiest programs, coaches and players. Good luck to all of the seniors tonight.

Also a player that should be considered is Bellevue's Caitlin Haynes (sp?). I know she is going to be a senior this year and is already tied for the school 3 point record and will be a 3 yr varsity letterman I believe,

9th Region - First Round
Congrats to Dixie on the win and Nichols for ptiching a gem of a game. Ryle/Beechwood should be a good game with Elliot on the mound but I see Ryle winning this one again in similar fashion as game 1. Who threw for the Raiders against Ludlow?

Lewis County 20 Morgan County 19
Did Morgan county miss the 2 point conversion for the win? lol

NKY Stadiums
I always liked playing there and being able to actually walk down the steps and in to the stadium. And up until around week 7, the grass looks great and isn;t a bald spot on the field.

NKY Stadiums
This is true. The original plan was to purchase all of the houses around the church across the street from the school and build the field there but it would have been a conflict with the lights and parking being in the middle of a neighborhood. Building the new stadium down at Rosedale IMO is a bad idea though. When the river comes up, HC will have lots of problems with flooding and they are going to have to tear up that whole field of grass and replant Bermuda if they want it to be a nice playing surface. Also, getting there is a hike and there would be a lot of traffic unless as you stated the trailer park is purchased to build a new road.

NKY Stadiums
Here's my assessment on the top fields: Best grass fields/complexes: Good: Ryle- As far as grass fields come, this one is the nicest complex. Plenty of parking, great food, ample seating, and the sound/lighting/atmosphere are always great here. Holmes/HC- probably one of the most unique fields to play at as you actually walk down in to the stadium both players and fans. Scoreboard is in a nice place on the field house where everyone can see it even if you're driving by on Eastern Ave, and the playing surface is always one of the best IMO which is why teams like NCC were using it 2 years ago for their home playoff games. Fair: Scott, Ludlow, Lloyd Bad: Boone, Conner (grass is always 2 feet high and watered down), Sk (just a hard playing surface and no grass in middle of field) Campbell Co (just a horrible playing surface but atmosphere is good), Dayton, Bellevue Turf fields: Highlands: when it comes to playing on turf, Highlands has the best atmosphere around. Dixie: probably the nicest complex in nky but parking is only downfall Beechwood: nice place to play but the stands are too small CCH- nice field but atmosphere just isn;t the same since the games are on sat Newport/NCC: right behind Dixie with all the new upgrades OVERALL: Best complex: Dixie Best place for atmosphere: Highlands Best stadium with grass: Ryle and Holmes

9th Region Draw
Very good assessment. But of course you're going to be a HOMER and pick your Raiders to win it all. Ryle does seem to have the easiest road to the finals though and they are playing very well right now. I wouldn't mind seeing both them and the Lady Raiders go to state this year.

Both Weaver and Webb are very aggressive. If they can play the way they did this year I wouldn't be surprised to see Holmes back in the regional finals. But then again there are a few other really good teams returning kep players lik NDA and Boone who seem to reload every year.

NCC 5 Holmes 1/34th District title
Congrats to NCC on the win. On a side note, this was Holmes first ever 20 win season so congrats to both the young ladies of the program and Coach Hughes. He really has the program heading in the right direction making the regional tourney 6 out of the last 8 years.

Miss Kentucky Softball
Junior or not, Allen is without a doubt the best player in KY. She has even improved at the plate as well which makes her more than just a dominant pitcher.

Holmes has both Christina Weaver and Brittany Webb back next year which were their two leading scorers. Both are very good players. Lacy Brasseaux of Boone is another very good player who will be back next year as well.
