Sounds like he is coming along just fine. Big article in the Commonwealth about him. He said that if he had to list a favorite college choice right now, that it would be western.

Who pitched for Pulaski in this win? Who had good games at the plate?

Great win for the Jumpers

Who will be the next Head Coach at Paintsville?
shs2005 replied to RNCSportsaholic's topic in KY Football (High School)
This is a suprise to me. I would have thought that after the success that he had last year in only his first season and with Pugh coming back that he would stay longer than just one year. From what I can tell he is very respected in that part of the state and I wish him the best. -
Another NKY school is getting Turf

I had the opportunity to play on the field this year and it wasnt that great. That field seriously needs Turf or something done to the playing surface. -

This would be a good pickup for Pineville, Coach Brown has a great mind for the game.

Boyle County didnt show much heart. In the first quarter, they scored 12 points and i believe that Staed had 10 of them. PRP's press was just way to tough for the Rebels. Any word on where Staed is going to go to college?

I believe that Madison Central may have the best chance to win the Sweet 16. Beating a team that bad gives you a chance to rest your starters, and make a run at a title.

This year Somerset plays 5 of the top 25 teams in the state!

Spring Practice is pretty important to the success of the Somerset program. It gives people that havent played an opportunity to test the waters as well as learn the plays for the upcoming year. At the end of the 2 weeks of practice, there is always an intersquad Purple and Gold Scrimmage that has been alot of fun too.

i.e: Southwestern
-
As most of you all know already, with the way that Southwestern plays, its really hard for them to be consistant. When you shoot 20+ 3 pointers a game, your not always going to hit enough to win. They were also too small to defend boyle's big man Staed. He is a man among boys. Is he only a junior?
-
I have also heard that rumor. Unfortunately with how many 20+ win seasons, three Class "A" State Runners-Up, six straight Class "A" State appearances..why would you want to let him go?

Any word on where Gilbert is going to school? -
Obviously some kids have nothing better to do out there. http://www.amnews.com/public_html/?module=displaystory&story_id=20057&format=html

The Warrior is one of my favorite bats, our high school team owns 2 of them. I also like the Air Response bats.

This move by SHS just really doesn't make sense to me. I mean, sure, they went 9-19 this year but their 2 best players, who were the heart of that team, were out all year with ACL injuries. How could the administraiton blame him for a season plagued with injuries? Brown proved that he can coach when he has the talent... 22-8 last season. As a Somerset grad, I had the privelege of having Coach Brown as a teacher and I know from experience that he is a class act both as a teacher, coach, and role model. SHS has made a huge mistake and they are losing a great leader. I wish Coach Brown the best of luck in the future.

Can't seem to find a full printout, but Somerset has a pretty tough Schedule this year. We play Beechwood, Trinity, Male, and Owensboro Catholic. And if im not mistaken Dunbar twice
-
I remember in 2003 when Somerset hosted the Regional Baseball Tournament, Cole Draughn from Pulaski County hit a double down the line. After the next batter picked up the bat, you could clearly see that the bat had literally shattered and was broken open. This bat was also a GEN 1 X.

Boyle County 54 Rockcastle County 40
shs2005 replied to statmanhensley's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I had the opportunity to watch this game. Number 30 for Boyle, Carter, is a player. I believe that he had 17 in the first half. The Rebels did a good job keying on Colby Brown and not letting him have alot of touches. He only had 10 point in the contest which im sure is 20 off of his seasonal average. I belive that Boyle should be the favorite to win the 12th, but McCreary must not be overlooked. -
McCreary Central 61 West Jessamine 51
shs2005 replied to statmanhensley's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
The Watts kid is unbelievable he is only in the 8th grade and is the leading scorer for the Raiders. Josh Bartley is also very good. I believe that if McCreary can do the little things like hit free throws that they could made a run at the 12th region title. -
What will the standings look like in June 06 ?
shs2005 replied to Diamond Dandy's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Are these projected rankings for the entire state? Or just a certain Region -
At Somerset we lost a talented group of 7 seniors which includes a member of the 1,000 point club in Ray Ray Norman. We also are losing a dominant inside player in Nathan Holton, Defensive specialists Chip Clay, and Eric Wilson as well as AJ Sharp, Jeff Ybanez and Andy Cole who tore his ACL in the second game of the season. We will have to do alot of rebuilding this offseason but we are returing quite a bit and we should be one of the top teams in the 12th next year.
-
This will be the third time that these teams have met this season. Its hard to beat the same team 3 times in the same year, the game is being played at Casey County. What are everyones thoughts and predictions on this district tournament game. I'm going with Somerset by 10 SHS-65 ROCK-55
