notme Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Jim Brown was forced out Tuesday as the coach of the Lady Jumpers. Paper said new hire will be in place by May. Do they stay in house or bring in new blood. Kinda surprising move if you ask me. :fight:
SLINK Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Good basketball coach and an even better person. A lot of class. :thumb:
Jim Schue Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I guess he's being blamed for all their injury problems this season, which is a shame. Brown is a great guy and a more than capable coach.
12thRegionFan Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 One of the classiest coaches in the 12th. Good Luck in th future Jim Brown. http://www.somerset-kentucky.com/sports/local_story_068080952.html?keyword=topstory

I think the blame that is being placed is about players he lost or almost lost. Whole lot of turmoil in that program. Lots of forces pulling from the inside in different directions. Jim was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I would bet he surfaces at Lex. catholic next year as an assistant. :fight:

He has ties to Coach Todd?

notme Posted March 9, 2006 Author Posted March 9, 2006 Really? He has ties to Coach Todd? When his daughter played he was involved with AAU with Todd. Todd was still at Berea then. Jim did a lot scouting for Todd during previous state tourneys. In fact one of Todds assistants is a Somerset Grad. I think she is still there. :fight:
SLINK Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 You can only do so much when the well runs dry. SHS does not have the same type of talent they had 10-15 years ago.

notme Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 speculation or facts? If I had to bet on it now I would say one of the boys assistants will be the next Lady jumper Coach. Lots of jocking from that camp. I also believe that group might have the supers ear bent their way a little. If I were them I would pick an outsider. Worked when they did it for the boys. :fight:
notme Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 Looks like this would be a great place for Mike Deaton to enter back into coaching. Son already there. Daughter could play under him. What do ya think? :fight:
shs2005 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 This move by SHS just really doesn't make sense to me. I mean, sure, they went 9-19 this year but their 2 best players, who were the heart of that team, were out all year with ACL injuries. How could the administraiton blame him for a season plagued with injuries? Brown proved that he can coach when he has the talent... 22-8 last season. As a Somerset grad, I had the privelege of having Coach Brown as a teacher and I know from experience that he is a class act both as a teacher, coach, and role model. SHS has made a huge mistake and they are losing a great leader. I wish Coach Brown the best of luck in the future.
