  1. Russell will be the biggest challenge to Belfry in awhile, as rgn 4 has been down this year with exception to Belfry and Russells competition has been better..This could be a factor, but, most likely the team that wins the battle in the trenches, wins the game. I like belfrys grind it out style running game against a usually solid Russell D.. Belfry 20 Russell 14
  2. OC gets there rematch with the Pirates and redeems last years loss...24-20
  3. WCentral has had a history of playing well against X and X has a history of not playing well when traveling west...WC and X have both had close calls all year and neither is invincible, but, imo, X may have a little more in the tank, come 4th qtr time...X 35 WC 21
  4. LC just has too much firepower and athleticism..Rockcastle is playing there best football of the year at the right time and will make a game of it, but, Burke & Co. will make a few more big plays...Lex Cath 30 Rockcastle 14
  5. I don't know alot about Desales, but, I would find it hard to believe they're near as battle tested as OCatholic's been these last 2 weeks..They've shown alot of heart to step up against quality opposition....OC 35 Desales 21
  6. I don't know alot about Desales, but, I would find it hard to believe they're near as battle tested as OCatholic's been these last 2 weeks..They've showed me alot of heart to step up against quality opposition....OC 35 Desales 21
  7. Bullitt East has really flown under the radar this year and are alot better than people thought. They do have a potent offense, but, haven't played a defense this strong, all year. BGs offense has been up and down at times this year, but, BEs defense hasn't been there strong suit..I think BGs offense will be able to score 2 or 3 tds, which should be plenty with the D they have. You also have throw in an extra score for the homefield advantage....Bowling Green 24 B.East 14
  8. At the beginning of the year, I really felt like Mayfield was the team to beat in 1a. They had 17 returning starters, got Fred Brown back after a year of injury and then got the transfer Hatchell from Caldwell Co..I even thought they had a shot at running the table..Then when they got hammered by Marshall Co in the 2nd game, followed by a heartbreaking loss to Hopkinsville in the 3rd and then gave the game to Tilghman in the 5th game, I thought I may have been overestimating there talent and ability. Little did anyone know, at the time, how good Marshall really was and that Hopkinsville may have lacked some star quality talent of past teams, but, they were still pretty solid, as was Tilghman..But, since that loss to PT, the Cardinals have reeled off 8 straight wins in convincing fashion and seem to be getting better every week..Since about midseason, I've felt Bardstown deserved to be ranked #1, ahead of the traditional "Big 4" because it seemed they were playing the best ball and were the only undefeated team left in 1a, and, I think they'll be the favorite in this game and well should be, but, imo, there going into unfamiliar territory with a 4 hour drive against a very hot and hungry team. I look for the Tigers to have a few big plays and the Cards to play ball control, grind it out football and the way the Cards OL and DL has played these past few weeks and there strong kicking game, look for this to be the difference....Mayfield 17 Bardtown 14
  9. Final... Mayfield's OL/DL dominated the game from the word go..The Cards are playing very well and, as usual, peaking at the right time of the year..Should be a dandy next week with the Tigers of Bardstown...
  10. Mayfield scores again on a 15 play 90 yd drive that ate over 7:00 minutes off the clock..."Classic Mayfield Football"...its 34-0 Cards...2:00 to go in game....
  11. Congrats Tigers...Big win against a very solid program...from a Mayfield fan, looking forward to a great game next week at War Memorial Stadium......should be a great one..
  12. halftime stats: Mayfield has 169 yds rushing, 43 yds passing, 212 total yds, 6 1st downs Metcalfe Co has 12 yds rushing, 3 yds passing, 16 total yds,1 1st down This ones being won in the trenches, much like last week's Crittenden game..still a half to go, though and alot of things can happen...
  13. Mayfield is still a fairly young team, they lose alot in the backfield, with exception to there qb, but, have some quality kids coming up and there defense has alot of sophs and jrs getting significant time and have a good core of offensive lineman returning, which is always a key to a teams success..
  14. I don't think these kids on LC really care what other LC teams in the past did.. We're not just talking the last 2 years..Many of the big games played with Boyle in the past were when these kids were in 6th to 8th grade..as far as playing a traditional powerhouse, i believe thats even more motivation for them, especially when they know on athleticism alone, they should win...
  15. Its all opinion and majority of BGP'ers reside in NKy, making that poll a little biased, imo...Also, Highlands tadition over the years will give them a few extra votes, but, this particular year, Lex cath appears to have the horses..
  16. If i were a Warren Central fan, I'd be very concerned about this game..We all know CC has a boat load of talent and with them peaking right now and WC not exactly playing great last week, it's real cause to be...Good luck to both teams...
  17. Biggest blowout : Lex Cath over Highlands Closest game : Bardstown over Danville
  18. Not to many folks know about Mayfields Blake Rust, but, he's a very solid rb, both for speed and power..
  19. Riverdale would win by 20+ easy...This team would beat Brentwood, MUS, MBA or any other TN team by the same or more...This is not a slight to St X..Riverdales just that good..
  20. But, that was probably the worst mayfield team in 20 yrs..
  21. Hoptowns defense has not been stellar this year, so, expect Hibbitt and Co to put some points up, the Tigers have always had skilled offensive players and this year is no exception, but, in the past, they've had some very good QBs who could keep a team honest with his arm, which is lacking this year..I do look for Taylor to make a big play or 2 and the Tigers to play up to the level of competition, but, BGreen just has too many hosses on both sides of the ball...BGreen 31 Hopkinsville 14...
  22. I personally don't think tradition has any bearing on the outcome...Different years, different teams and Bardstown won't roll over or get flustered if things aren't going well..Yes, Danvilles out of district schedule was tougher, but, Bardstowns district was tougher and thats what each team has been playing for the last 5-6 weeks.. Danvilles speed will keep em close, but, imo, Bardstown will make a few more big plays and come out on top...If Danville wins, it'll be very close whereas if the Tigers win, it could be by alot...
