  1. Can anyone tell me a little bit about Metcalfe, like, speed, type offense they run, how they pass the ball, what defensive schemes, best players, kicking game, etc...It seems very few on here have much insight on them which could be scary for an upcoming opponent... Anyone??
  2. I, too think the 03 team was better, but, fact is,theres still no trophies to show for it, therefore making this year a must win situation...Like you said, the talent level was better in 03, just like the talent level at Ft Campbell is better this year...I can't really say either team choked, it just so happened they ran into a hot team in Glasgow last year and Webster the year before... Also, Ft Campbell already has a state championship or 2 in there trophy case, so, imo, the pressures on OC to get one...
  3. BGreen Lex Cath B.East Boyle Highlands Hoptown Bell Co Rockcastle Co
  4. Bell Co Somerset Henry Clay W.Central Bullitt East Western Ft Campbell Lex Catholic Lex Christian Bardstown 55
  5. Me...in the past 3 years at least 5 of the top 10 ranked teams have been from the east..between Belfry, Breathitt, Russell, Prestonsburg, Middlesboro.. This year only Belfry and Russell have been in the top 10 consistently and they're still pretty good teams, but, imo, the better teams are in the west this year...
  6. Sounds to me like this may be Ocatholics do or die year...from what everyone is saying, this is alot better team than in 03 and 04, so, with 2a being somewhat down on the east side, i'd think they were the ones with all the pressure...
  7. LCA has the talent to win and now the confidence to do it, too...Theres a new sherrif in town...I think they'll take it by a good margin...42-21
  8. I think 1a is as wide open as its been in a longtime, with as many as 6 of the 8 capable of running the table... In 2a, Ft campbell, Belfry and Ocath seem to be a little above the rest.. In 3a, I could see BGreen, Boyle, Highlands or lex cath taking it all.. In 4a, its St Xs to lose in my opinion, with Trinity, Henry Clay and WCentral just a notch below.
  9. I don't see it as a blowout either, probably a score or 2 either way...i can't say much about Metcalfe because i haven't seen em play and can only speculate by looking at there scores, which, in fact, has been pretty impressive...However, Barren Co is a very mediocre team and they lost to them, but, again, that was 12 weeks ago and they seem to be alot better now.. Alot of people thought Hancock Co was a threat last year also, which didn't turn out to be the case, whereas, 2 yrs ago, them and Metcalfe were very competitive..i will say mayfield is alot better this year than in 03 and are starting to play like everyone expected them to at the beginning of the year... I'm going to go with Mayfield in this one 24-14
  10. Metcalfe makes the long roadtrip west to Mayfields War Memorial Stadium to take on the Cardinals..They come in riding an 11 game winning streak after a season opening loss to 4a Barren Co...Mayfield comes in riding a 6 game winning streak and dominating there 1a competition after an always tough non district schedule...They have played 4 common opponents this year with Metcalfe outscoring those 4 162-25 and Mayfield outscoring the same 181-37. With that said, it appears to be a pretty even matchup..Hows everyone see this one shaping up?
  11. Congratulations OCatholic on a very good win and to Trigg on a fine season..Hey, OC fans, just because Trigg didn't show the class you would like, doesn't make it right for you fans to be the same way..
  12. If Somerset comes to play, they should handle Paintsville, but, the Tigers have surprised me to this point, so, I think it could go either way...
  13. This game is not a shocker to me..I've been singing LCAs praises for awhile now..I didn't think this was one of Beechwoods better teams and the upset was a real possibility...The margin of victory and dominance they showed, does surprise me a little...NCC will give em a better game next week, but, I feel LCA will pull it out... l
  14. Good win for the Purples..anytime you beat a PT team by this margin, even on a mediocre year, with there athletes and speed, its a good win...Keep it going next week. Hopkinsville won't be a walk in the park by any means, especially, at home..
  15. If they indeed did this, that's totally classless, imo...Murrays defense is pretty weak this year, but, i thought they would score a little more myself...Sounds like MC has a pretty good D..We'll see what there all about next week..Should be a good one..
  16. With exception of the fake punt td by Guess for about 65 yds, Crittendens offense was shutdown...Mayfield dominating in the trenches was the key and the running of Blake Rust was outstanding...I was concerned that Crittendens passing game may break some big plays, but the Cards secondary was right there all night..Overall, very good game by Mayfield...Good luck with Metcalfe next week..Also congrats on another fine season by Crittenden Co..You have nothing to hang your heads about. You've got a very good 1a program and will have many more opportunities in the coming years..
  17. As far as Ft Campbell or Trigg winning against Belfry, we'll never know and it's all just opinion...What we do know is Belfry's so called "machine" did, in fact, do the things to OC's defense that gives me every reason to question there D against top caliber opposition... You talk about the lack of talent of your own teams, which I pointed out, was false.. Now you question the character of Trigg and Ft Campbell, calling them "Thugs". Were you there when Johnson did this? I doubt it. Does Trigg have no class, because of the reaction there fans make? No.. I tried to give OC there proper due, but, it's blindsided homers like you that really make me root against your team..
  18. Maybe Mayfield can get them on there schedule...I'd rather see Crittenden than Union Co and it seems every year, they have trouble filling there schedule, too..Can't see any reason they wouldn't, just like Murray...
  19. That's what I meant, too...Trigg simply may be trying to upgrade with bigger schools vs a 1a school..
  20. Now, you're being silly by saying if Catholic had the talent that those teams had...They have had talent, probably more than either the last few years, and you make it sound like heart is the only thing thats pulled them thru.. ridiculous statement...my reference to there defense was referring to the state game against Belfry when it was nonexistent, giving up like 500 yds rushing.Don't thinks its silly to question a D when thats the case..If I recall OC had a D1 QB and a 2000 yd rusher as well as a receiver and a lineman or 2 who were highly recruited.. I'd say they weren't being recruited for there heart and courage, wouldn'y you?
  21. I think 00rocket is saying that several of there district games are already so far away, it would be better to have a good, quality opponent near by, at least for gate purposes and for the fans
  22. Graves Co may also be a good, quality opponent..I know they've played Ballard Mem the last couple of years and played Fulton co a few years ago..
  23. Yeah, I haven't really thought about Murray..When Fisher was there, they were the worlds worse about scheduling anyone who might give em a challenge, but, it appears there new coach is trying to improve the program and get some better teams to play. They may be a real good fit, plus, i really look for them to improve in the next couple of years
  24. Heres my thought: Tilghman - 5 district games, Graves and Mayfield and usually another pretty good out of state team and a good 4a team, this doesn;t leave them much room Hop'town - 5 district games, Mayfield, Christian, Male, and a good out of state team..Also not alot of room. Oboro Cath - Only 4 non dist games available and 3 locked in with the other 3 Oboro schools, again, not alot of room.. You see my point...Not only that, but, you also have to find teams that can match up with your available weeks and thats not always easy either..
