Final

Mayfield goes to the Regional Finals for the 700th time in as many years.

I went to the game because there was some hype about Crittenden possibly winning, but Mayfield truly dominated the game. Crittenden had a decent team, but unfortunately for them it was the same old ending. Mayfield was simply too much for the Rockets. T.K. Guess looks to be a very good athlete, but early in the game he dropped some passes that could have hurt Mayfield. Overall, I was very impressed with Mayfield's defense; Crittenden's only score came on the fake punt play.

With exception of the fake punt td by Guess for about 65 yds, Crittendens offense was shutdown...Mayfield dominating in the trenches was the key and the running of Blake Rust was outstanding...I was concerned that Crittendens passing game may break some big plays, but the Cards secondary was right there all night..Overall, very good game by Mayfield...Good luck with Metcalfe next week..Also congrats on another fine season by Crittenden Co..You have nothing to hang your heads about. You've got a very good 1a program and will have many more opportunities in the coming years..

One game away from another legendary Mayfield/Danville showdown. :walk:

However, we will have to play a perfect game next week if we are to make the 4 hour drive to WKY.

Total Yards............ Mayfield ...........369.......... Crittenden 119

First Downs:........... Mayfield 17 ...................Crittenden 4

Mayfield Rushing 310 yards, Rust 183, Hatchell 62 Dumas 20, Shelton 45

Crittenden Rushing 90 yards most of it off a fake punt by Guess

Passing: Shelton Mayfield 6-10 59 yards

Crittenden Passing Barry 29 yards and was picked off 3 times

What a total domination by the Cardinals. Mayfield played the best game I have seen them play this year. Guess and Gardner were both none factors. I don't think Guess caught a pass all night.

Chance Sherrill played the best game that I have ever seen him play. He broke up plenty of passes tonight.

Yea, we just got dominated up front, it seemed like every time we were going to make a play Mayfields D stepped up. We just got our tail's kicked up front!

Mayfields line just basically wore Critt out. The offense moved the ball all night on them. Guess could have made some catch's early that might have made somewhat of a differnce. I thought Mayfield overlooked Critt last year and I believe Mayfield is better than they were last season. Critt did all they could do and had a nice season but Mayfield was a better team than them, by far.

Mayfield holds Critt to like 58 yds total minus the fake punt by Guess. Best game I've seen the Cards play all year. Rust and Hatchell flat out wore down the Rockets. The O-line opened some HUGE holes.

Hats off the Chance Sherrill for a great game and to Logan Armstrong, Brent Simpkins, Jon Hobbs, and others on the "D" for a perfect execution of Coach Lawson's gameplan!

Good year for Critt and I was impressed by their fan support!
