Mayfield 34 Metcalfe Co. 0

Featured Replies

Final...

Mayfield's OL/DL dominated the game from the word go..The Cards are playing very well and, as usual, peaking at the right time of the year..Should be a dandy next week with the Tigers of Bardstown...

Complete Cardinals dominance:

Mayfield had 48 rushes for 306 yards. Add 74 passing yards and that's 380 total yards!

Meanwhile, the Mayfield defense held Metcalfe County to 30 rushes for 44 yards. The Hornets added 51 passing yards for a total of 95 yards.

WOW!! Seems like they're peaking at the right time.

Mayfield dominated this game. Our line manhandled theirs. The backs ran hard, the defense swarmed to the ball. Metcalfe had a hardnosed bunch but was simply outmanned. Mayfield is really clicking right now.

Complete domination by the cards. Metcalfe has not played anyone this year that prepared them for this caliber of competition. I know they played Mayfield tough in '03, but they were just wiped off the field by this Mayfield team. Kudos to the Metcalfe kids though, they seemed like a class act.

That 03 team that Mayfield had was very young and injury riddled all year..they took some thrashings from the likes of Hoptown,Tilghman,Eville North,Graves Co and i think was 5-5 in the regular season..that may have been one of the weakest Mayfield teams in a long, long time, so, staying with them then wasn't really that much of an accomplishment..

Great job by the Cards once again...the OL/DL really has improved their play over the past several weeks and are opening up holes...and when you let Rust, Hatchell, and Dumas run downhill they are a hard bunch to contain. Should be an outstanding battle next week with Bardstown's explosive offense against Mayfields "very stingy" defense. Should be a heck of a ballgame at War Memorial stadium...could not think of anything that could be better than the day after Thanksgiving than Mayfield football on Friday.

Hey, welcome to the site, CardinalsVoice, yet another Big Red joins. Yeah, it should be another interesting day after Thanksgiving although in the back of my mind I would like to be playing those ADs cause I love tradition but things can't always work out.

Same here

Thanks for the welcome Go Big Red...didn't mean to step on your toes with the avatar...i will see what I can do to find another Cardinal logo. I know what you mean as far as tradition...but at least one tradition won't take place this year and that being Danville having our number...although it would have been nice to pay them back for the last couple of years...should be a great test and great matchup...especially the way that Dumas and Sherill have been playing in the secondary...and with Brown back that gives us more depth in the secondary to contain some of the Tigers speed...GO CARDS!!!

Thank you sports fan....I am sure that I will...hopefully we can have two more Cards games to talk about...but first we have to get past a very good Bardstown team...but luckily we don't have to travel up there this year.

……………………Mayfield………………..Metcalfe

First Downs………...15………………………..5

Rushing attempts…50………………………33

Rushing Yards……..305……………………...23

Passing…………......5-10-2………………….3-16-1

Passing Yards…….78………………………...52

Total Yards………..383……………………....75

Blake Rust…….18 rushing attempts for 109 yards

Tristan Dumas…14 rushing attempts for 110 yards

Josh Hatchell…..16 rushing attempts for 86 yards

Mayfield's defense held Metcalf's Ryan England to -5 yards rushing on 14 attempts. Going into the game he had over 1700 yards rushing for the year.

This is one game where the stats do tell the story....just a dominating performance by the Cards "D"...great job by Coach Lawson getting this defense prepared here in recent weeks...As a fan you are in a catch 22...as we want the ball so we can score...but Mayfield's "D" is so much fun to watch.

GO CARDS :fight:
