Mississippi State and Vandy Advance to the College World Series
Bert replied to Bert's topic in Other College Sports
Vandy takes the first game after a disastrous first inning by the Miss St pitcher, hit two batters back to back. -

I would have never guessed Highlands has never won a State championship in baseball. I just assumed Highlands was like St.X and had atleast one state in all boys sports. -

Impressive that Trinity scored double digits throughout the entire tournament but never gave up more than three. -
Last time I watched Rory, he looked pretty cut also. DeChambeau (how ever you spell it) is starting to look like a full back.

It would be interesting to see how this list would be compared to a list of schools with players in the NFL since the first Superbowl. Would the list be very similar? Or is there some luck to it that some teams just happened to have more of their players on Superbowl teams? Maybe they played for the Patriots, Steelers, Cowboys, 49'ers, etc. back during those dynasties and just having players that were selected by or traded to Superbowl teams?

Has anyone heard if Colin Murphy will pitch against DeSales? With Trinity's top two pitchers nursing elbows, T needs Colin more than ever. -
I don't think the UofL can be considered a sure win very often at all. Archrivalries are always unpredictable and this year I believe the game is in Louisville so I will say UK SHOULD win but I am not ready to say it is a sure thing. This is Leach's second year so he will have a full year to emplement his system so I am not sure how MSU will be this year. I know very little about Mizzou so I am not sure what to think about that game. So again, I feel six individually in themselves are very safe and have to believe atleast one if not two more out of the rest of the schedule is pretty safe to assume.

UK has 6 games alone that are almost sure wins: Lou Monroe, UT Chat, So Car, UT, Vandy and N Mex. I have to believe they can get atleast one more win out of the rest of that schedule (Mizzou, UF, LSU, UGA, MSU and UofL).

UofL certainly has provided plenty of entertainment over the decade or so. About 10 or so years ago Rick gets extorted by the wife of a fellow UofL employee he impregnated in a booth of an Italian restaurant, a few years later one of his staff hires hookers for recruits, recruits who later helped the program to a national championship which would be stripped away, the first time ever to happen in basketball, a few years later while on probation for Hookergate, a recruit (or recruits?) is/are getting payments in some bizarre relationship with an Adidas executive and now another head coach is being extorted by a (formerly) trusted assistant threatening to release Level 2 violations while again on probation when you would think the program would be running the squeakiest clean program ever. If we have learned anything from this, UofL is going to UofL.

Weren't those two pretty close? Coaches together for years at Cincy and prior school? Pretty harsh to extort a supposed friend and then the friend turn around and call the FBI on him which could lead to felony charges.

He never went out? -
He may be back in a year assuming Harbaugh doesn't improve anything at Michigan and gets fired somewhere around Nov/Dec 2021.

If the majority of fans are in the same boat in that they are less invested in college football, the college playoffs are getting some pretty impressive ratings on just three fan bases (granted two of those fan bases I imagine are #2 and 3 in size of fan bases). My guess is the fan bases of SEC, ACC and Big 10 conferences are very interested and the Big 12 to a somewhat lesser degree but most of those fan bases agree with the rest of college football fan bases that expanding the playoffs should be done.

Baffert gets another one.

My preference would be 8 team play off but if it were going to be 12 teams, seeds 1-4 get byes to the second round and then let MAC, Sunbelt, PAC10, etc. champions weed out the weaker teams amongst them and let the stronger teams among them move to the second round to play seeds 1-4 (Bama, Clemson, OSU, etc.) which you would think would decrease the likelihood of boring blow outs in the playoffs.

What channel is the championship on? I cannot find it. -
Not really since the time frame is only 5 years, even the best programs have periods of blah results. I think a more meaningful presentation would be one that ranks each decade or one that takes an average annual score for a coach over that coaches timeframe at a team.
