I am not sure how much it helps, but can certainly hurt the morale of a team if the crowd is "dead" or unengaged in a game...it can make a game seem unimportant to players on the field.

I guess folks are forming their opinions of Williamsburg by the teams of the past...I will go ahead and say this offensive line can play with anybody in the mountains when they come to play. Defensively they are playing some YOUNG kids (4 freshmen) to keep the OL fresh. The staff is putting some of those older guys in on D, but they are resting more than playing now due to some younger guys stepping up in the rotation. Someone said that Cumberland will be good enough to both rush the qb, stop the run, and cover the receivers...I have always heard if you try to stop everything you will stop nothing. People think the Burg is strictly an air raid team...and they do like to throw it, but they are running the ball exceptionally well for a WHS team.

Corbin "SHOULD" certainly win by a lot, BUT Coach Jewell will not run the score up to 70...if he can help it. I know you can't tell kids not to score, especially younger guys in the 2nd half. Corbin is too classy to beat a team that is down right now by that much. But it will be a blowout nonetheless if the kids come to play.

This gets better every week.

I would love to get that program down in the Whitley County area on one of our stations...who could I contact in regards to this? My nominee is: Ryan Moses 6'2 Soph. QB Williamsburg - 15 of 23 passing for 305 yards and 5 TD's; 65 yards rushing and a TD. In a 59-8 district win over Clinton County Ryan accounted for 6 total TD's.

The astonished look on the officials and players faces when a loud voice from above proclaimed..."Verily I say unto you...do not smite your bretheren in such a way as you are prepared to do!!! What part of turn the other cheek doest thou not understand!!!???

The Burg's defense needs to step up...if they do it should be a big win...if they don't it will be a battle.

LCA's kicker is amazing as well...he was 100% touchbacks vs. Williamsburg...one went through the uprights. Only one other landed in the endzone while the rest were out of it...he didn't attempt a field goal, but I am sure he's good from pretty far out. Cannon of a leg no doubt...and he'll go to a big time school to kick if he so wishes.

I am pretty sure WHS had over 500 total and somewhere around 180 to 200 rushing.

Final. Shootout in the Burg...Jackets finally figured out how to slow down the Raiders in the 4th quarter and pull it out.

There was very little pressure on the QB all night, maybe one sack. LCA is explosive, and jumped out quick...that took the wind out of the Jacket's sails. They seemed a little star-struck with the big atmosphere. Only 7 were scored on a subbed down defense. Offensively Williamsburg appeared to move the ball upand down the field with little difficulty, but seemed to turn it over or get a big penalty once across the 50 yard line. The defense and tackling were flat awful, and if that improves there will be some success in Williamsburg. The Jackets will win more than 3 games this year though.

Here is a bold prediction...there will be several passes thrown...hahahaha!!!

They will certainly be a well coached, sound team...if Williamsburg can pull this one off it will go a long way in building momentum. Afterall LCA is a top 10 team.

Yawn indeed, because the teams that should not be in are in...I am fairly certain only one 2A school won't make it...and with so many 4 team districts out there one could, as I mentioned earlier, go 0-10 and be a playoff team. As supershamrocks mentioned about talent...yes X and T are more talented than many, but it must be stated that they are VERY WELL COACHED!!! Technique will beat talent much of the time. It must be said that this state hasn't enough teams to support 6 classes...they are barely filling the playoff brackets.

They can certainly play, just for seperate championships through districts and playoffs. Obviously one must realize that Trinity et al. will be in 6A etc. regardless...so they are going to continue to dominate...because they are at the top...so if they chose to remain public they would still be in the highest class. As I said the option to stay public is there...with the playing up stipulation.

3 or 4 public classes 2 private classes Public and private can schedule each other and play at their own discretion. Also if a private school wants to play in a public division it must play up a class. This is roughly how TN does it to the best of my knowledge...i.e. Knox Cath. has approx. 2A enrollment and plays in class 3A. If KHSAA is intent on keeping 6 classes upon the next census then one and possibly two districts should be eliminated in order to have approx. 6 to 7 teams in a district. It is great that so many can participate, but when it is possible to be 0-10 and still make the playoffs it is a little rediculous.

You do not replace those two great players, but several kids that got reps at the WR spot last year are a year older and better. It looks like WHS may be able to run a little better than in years past, and the coaching staff seems to have the kids excited about what they are doing. The O-line is improving steadily led by Elias Abner at center...in the grid one of the teams best, starting LT was out and the OL didn't miss a beat, even though Harlan's OL/DL was bigger and appeared to be stronger. They are a strong unit that will open things up for the Burg. The RB is Will Moses he's speedy, catches, and finds daylight well. One big early injury is a starting LB that could be out a while with a knee. The wildcard is the play of Ryan Moses Soph. starting QB...He along with the rest of the team will be expected to grow up under the lights. For the most-part WHS is a young team...only 5 SR's on the team...two of which start. But they have played as a team thus far, with no individualism...if this can continue WHS can be solid.

Yes it is on Saturday in their bowl game.
