Is this schedule 5A or 4A?

Its called population....I'm sure if someone would do the research Ville schools have higher enrollment than LEX schools. It takes quite a few more than 5 good players to make a quality Football team;)

I'm not a baseball guy, but I believe you can order what ever size is needed to keep High School coaches in uniform. If the coach feels better wearing a pull over on top of the uni fine. Lets face it guys this is the only sport these days that can draft High School kids. The dress that the pros use should be the same IMO.

All you had to do was ask Coach Cobb. He knows exactly where Shelby Valley is because he coached in the same district as Valley when Coach Cobb was at Knott Central.

I've seen zero whining. Some times the truth hurts? The KHSAA allowed it to be what it is...Its obvious that Mercer County had a great Football team as well as Russell. The AA State Championship could have been won by either of these teams given a play here or there, it wasn't a blow out. Russell made AA football and NEKY proud!! Mercer County should be proud and the "rings" look good.

Why? They lose 3 of their toughest opponents with the new class system? Lawrence County's new District will consist of Boyd County, Greenup County, and Rowan County:confused: Maybe the nondistrict schedule is tougher?

The fact that Clay County is even mentioned in a class Top Ten is rights for kudos, but they don't get that kind of respect by playing a cream puff schedule. IMO this is a soild prediction, but replace Clay with Bryan Station.

IMO one All Star game is enough. If a player has a conflict with the date its because he is playing in the BIG show, but that's not to take away from the guys who will play in the NE game. I personally would have loved to play in an all star game, but my college coach might have thought different:cool:

Covinton Catholic vs Ashland 1988 AAA Semi-Finals The game ended in OT 6-0. If I'm not mistaken CCHS had one of the best QB's in the State that year and was playing a Tomcat team that had to pull to several upsets to even get to .500 for the year. A classic underdog everyone had given up all hope on Ashland and they played the eventual State Champ to the wire. If I'm not mistaken the Playoff road was 1st round: Belfy (undefeated) Ashland won, Russell: (Beat Ashland in the regular season for the district championship) Ashland won and crowned Regional Champs, CCHS lost in OT. I'll find the win-loss total for the Tomcats that year because I'm pretty sure Ashland was a lossing team entering the playoffs that year. Remember that only the top 2 teams got to the playoffs and the season was only 10 weeks long.

Its called leadership. Some teams have it and some teams don't. But the funny thing is that you can't coach leadership. Not knowing what type of leadership Russell has I still think the Red Devils make a run in 3A this year. Oh, by the way you don't have to be a senior to be a leader.

First, Thanks Coach J for your remarks about our program and good luck to your Panthers in 07. Its always great when 2 storied programs from EKY can play each other. Second, mountianmojo68; As much as I would like to Ashland say is a favorvite in the new 5A District 6 classification there much work to be done. To compete with Bryan Station, Johnson Central, Montgomery County, and Woodford County the young Tomcats will litterally have to reload. Good luck to both teams in the second week of 07 and I would also like to say it sounds like Pikeville HAS found a keeper.

What you saying makes ZERO sense:laugh: There are 119 D-IA football schools with 85 scholarships each:sleep: Do the math..... That's 10,115 scholarships:sssh: I've tried to find how many NCAA baseball scholarships are out there but it just not posted, but I would think that the 10,000 + football offers in D-I is way more than all 3 divisions in baseball. I'm not a gambler, but it would seem that football would be the better bet. Kids should play any sport that they want to play in High School PERIOD. But to say you have better odds with the color your of skin is stupid and to be honest ignorant. The main goal for any coach or supporter of a high school athletics should be to give their kids the best opportunity to reach "THEIR" goals. Of the 6 games that Valley lost 4 of them were to very good 2A teams in KY. Yes the score might be all telling, but I would think that SV might have played a good half or quarter early in a few of those 4 losses.

Is Dials now 100%. He was a little bit gimpy the last time Ashland played the Golden Eagles. Dails is a very good football player and I'm sure he'll have a lot to do with JC's success in 2007. Could we see Nathan at LB this year?

There are 2 more "young" teams in the 16th you need to check into getting on the SV schedule: Fairview and Rose Hill.

Remember that Drew's team beat Boyd also to get the draw Ashland got in the Regional toury sooo????? Also, I guess Elliott's loss to East Carter means that Ashland's semi game was a cake-walk??? Now, Elliott County is the 16th Region Champion regardless of the IFs and BUTs. My advice is to enjoy the win and stop trying to defend it because next year will come very quickly:jump:

Wait just one minute......I have and will not make any excuses. I replied to a poster who was slamming Ashland's coach. I'm sure that the people of Sandy Hook and Elliott County are proud as peacocks right now, and they have every right to be, just leave the yelling out of it when posting. I really thought that Elliott fans would be more gracious winners than this, but sometimes emotions get the best of us all;)

I guess Boyd and Russell's game plan was better? That's a cheap shot and you know it. Elliott County was on fire from 3 ball land and its hard to beat a team running or not when that happens. Again Good Luck to Elliott at Rupp:thumb:
