Holmes/Scott Co. Predictions

Featured Replies

What do all of you think?

Obviously Scott Co is the favorite, but don't count Holmes out. They have been very impressive so far and IMO if they can force Scott Co to play at their tempo, which i'm sure they'll do, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them playing in the night cap.

Holmes athleticism will force Scott Co's big men to get in foul trouble, just as South's did.

I'll hold off on a prediction for now though.

If Scott County plays like they did today then they get beat. Mackey, Walls, and Warren were all in foul trouble most of the game against Adair County.

Im calling the upset...as I have said before I think Holmes gives Scott Co. the best matchup of anybody in the tourney or anybody in the state by that matter. I think Henderson will be the x factor, he will have a big game.

Holmes- 65

Scott Co.- 60

Holmes does give matchup problems for the Cards as well as some problems with their speed. Scott co will show how they got to this point by playing defense. Look for Mackey to earn his stripes Saturday morning. He thrives on this style of play. Scott Co 73 Holmes 63

Once again...key to the game...Henderson vs Walls.

The past two games, Henderson's defense has been the game breker.

He shut Profitt down today and frustrated him the whole game and did the same with Perry.

If Henderson shuts Walls down, Holmes wins.

As far as the other players go, I think SC is going to have trouble guarding Hill and Rice.

Winner of this game wins state IMO.

I hope SC brings their A game tomorrow. Through the first two games I would give them a D- so far.

Whoever wins the rebounding battle will win this game. I don't think Holmes can beat SC if they only get one shot attempt per trip. If SC lets them get to the offensive glass - they will be in trouble.

There are some great match-ups in this game: Walls v/s Henderson and Hill v/s Mackey and Lee v/s Rice should be great to watch.

Jimmy Warren's defense on Jefferson will also be a big key. Jefferson looks to beat his man to set up his teammates. If Warren can contain Jefferson - the teammates don't have to leave their man to help...

It should be a great game.

What kind of defense does SC play?

Full court pressure man to man. They will run and jump and trap too.

If SC plays man to man the whole game, they might have a little trouble. I don't think they can match up with all 5 of Holmes starters.

They never have and never will play zone. Their man was good enough to beat OJ and Patterson - I think they have a good chance of guarding the boys from Holmes too.

Now if they play lazy, unfocused D like they have in the first two rounds - Holmes has a good shot to win. Rebounding is the key. Holmes shooting percentage tells me they can't win if they only get one shot per trip.

I think a focused Scott County knocks the Bulldogs out short of the finals.

Scott is the favorite and I think the will win the rebounding battle, but they had better come focused to do just that, because Holmes hits the offensive boards hard.

Walls will be challenged defensively by Arez Henderson.

Holmes passed the ball well today.

I completely agree Yoda. I think Scott County wants to run and gun and they beat the best in the nation doing it. Holmes will definately cause match up problems but I think the Cards wake up and win this one in a close battle.
