I think parents are correct to be concerned and protective of their sons with the information we currently have, to suggest otherwise is reckless on Tackett's part.

This one hits close to home for me. Look I get that Dunbar coach should have known rules; however, keep reading the title of this thread over and over. One of the best runners in the state was almost prevented from running because of a UNIFORM INFRACTION (say like Allen Iverson would say it). We are talking about a uniform infraction. The infraction was having more than one logo on the uniform. Out of all the craziness that goes on in this state (and I can name some craziness) that goes unpunished, the KHSAA is still in the business of uniform policing in track and cross country. Let this one sink in... going back a few years once upon a time the KHSAA let a kid charged with sexual assault, a charge that would have made him ineligible at his previous school, transfer to another school in order to be eligible to play (later playing in the state tournament), while my son whose stitching in his compression shorts was gray while his compression shorts were white was disqualified and prevented from running at state. Here is a novel idea, how about Julian "the adult in the room" Tackett figure out a way to let kids finish a race when the weather doesn't cooperate and get rid of silly uniform infractions. According to Tackett participation numbers were up in football because more kids had an opportunity for success; however, when people desire for more classes in other sports they simply want more trophies or are looking out for their own self interest. Makes perfect sense Commish.

I forgot to ask... does Tackett really believe that football really doesn't have a concussion/CTE issue outside of the NFL?

The KHSAA has indicated they value geographically diverse state playoffs and championships over competitiveness.

I know Brossart soccer hasn't been great the past couple of year, but this seems pretty harsh coming from a supporter. :lol:

I am sure NDA has excellent coaches and obviously a winning culture. With that said talent matters more and I think it would be harder to fail than succeed with the girls that have made up that program.

Yesterday friends of Brian Eviston held a pretty cool fundraiser for him. They raised over $30,000 to buy Brian an new wheel chair. The way they did it was pretty unique. They held a gold outing - obviously nothing unique about that; however, what they did was they got nine northern Kentucky golf courses to allow them to play 2 holes at each of their courses. They billed it as the toughest 18 holes in northern Kentucky. So yesterday they had a party bus cart them from course to course where they played a couple holes. In between they had food, drinks and made some great memories while raising money for their friend. I think they charged around $1,000 per guy. I probably didn't do the story justice, but I think it is a great story about some amazing friends (and some really good dudes) rallying for a friend. Brian is a young attorney, who is battling ALS. Hope none of those involved mind my sharing, but just love the story of love in action.
