1/16/17 – State Track & Field Dates | Kentucky High School Athletic Association

 

For the first time(?), each class will have its championship on different days.

 

Thursday, May 17 - Class 1A

Friday, May 18 - Class 2A

Saturday, May 19 - Class 3A

How did I know you'd be the first to post?

 

My hope, with this new format, is that any inclement weather issues would be addressed. Any issues for classes 1A (Thursday) and 2A (Friday) could be resolved on succeeding days.

 

By not packing two classes into the Saturday session, 3A could begin running events at the usual 1:00 PM start time. Flexibility to extend the meet schedule as needed, addresses last year's issue.

For some reason they moved the dates up a week from the corresponding dates that were previously posted on their website for track this season. Any idea why?

I used to help out at the Maryland state track meet way back in the day. Usually got stuck at the shot or high jump venues. Never the pole vault, thankfully.

The dates aren't a conflict with UK's meet schedule. Their last meet, the Kentucky Relays are on May 5. Some other event?

Yeah, I had to look it up too. You are right on many other issues.:thumb:

 

Dates seem a week or two, too early, compared to the past. Typically the last weekend of May?
