I'd agree that it is an upset. Especially considering that it was played in Brandenburg. Meade Co. doesnt' lose often at home.

Eric Shelton was with the Carolina Panthers for a couple of seasons, I think he is out of the league now.

I see what your saying, but another way to look at it is that perhaps he could improve by playing better competition. I'd say it's likely that he will more often than not face better competition during practice at Oak Hill than he would in the 2nd Region.

FWIW, I saw Hopson play last season in a loss against Apollo. By far the most impressive aspect of his game was in the pre-game. Edmundson, was twice the player he was that night. It may not be fair to judge him by just one game, but thats all I have to work with, and it was obvious that he had no desire to be on the court at all.

I still have a tape of an Apollo / Graves Co. game from the mid 90's. Apollo's Michael Hanley had the best half of football I've ever seen in person. Carried the ball about 11 times for a little over 400 yards and 8 TD's. Good thing he didn't play after halftime.

Technically, wouldn't the ideal batting average be about 1.000?

That's somewhat ture. DeMatha plays in the Washington Catholic Athletic Association. It's a 12 team league but 6 of the teams are located in Maryland, 3 in Virginia, and 3 in the District. So it's more MD than DC. DeMatha is not able to compete for state titles in Maryland as apparantely that states version of Wilson Sears has been much more successful. The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletics Associtions wont' let them play.

He's had a pretty good start to the season. The Eagles are 5-0 and Tyler is putting up 22.4 ppg.

Maybe not, MNW obviously had a much tougher game in the state semi's but as we all should know, sometimes the two best teams aren't always on opposite sides of the bracket.

Since it will help my arguement. Miami Northwestern defeated Orlando Boone 41-0 this weekend in the Florida 6A Championship game.

You'll notice I never claimed they were the #1 team in the nation. But I also do not think that Kentucky has 3 teams that are better than they are. And your Jamie Demoney ranks them #3 in the nation so apparantly he agrees with me.

The game might have been in Kentucky, but I would think that it was better exposure for New Jersey and Virginia basketball.

My arguement never mentioned Ohio teams, but I have come up with some facts to support my claim. Take Miami Northwestern. According to Rivals they have 7 players ranked in the top 50 for the state of Florida. (1 QB, 2 WR, 2 OL, 1 LB, 1 DT) 5 of these have already committed to play in a BCS conference, 2 are undecided. The team is currently 14-0 and will play Orlando Boone this Saturday for the Florida 6A (largest class) state championship. They have defeated their opponets this season by an average score of 42-10. This includes a win against Southlake Carroll, which has won 4 of the last 5 Texas 5A (largest class) state championships. That game took place on a "neutral" field on the campus of SMU. That game also snapped a 49 game win streak by Carroll. Yet MaxPreps feels that Northwestern is only the 47th best team in the country. Perhaps they will lose Saturday, however, if you win the state championship in the largest class in Florida, I have got to believe that there are not 46 teams that are better in the country.

Another thing. I don't mean this to be a slam on Trinity, obviously they are a great team, but I have a hard time believing that only one team in the state of Florida is better than they are. Considering all of the talent from Florida playing at the high D1 level, I would think that there has to be multiple teams in Florida that would have no trouble in KY 6A. I'm curious as to how they base these rankings, obviously nobody is able to really watch all the teams in the country.

How do they justify ranking Boone so far ahead of Owensboro. Boone was 10-4 to Owensboro's 12-2, both made the state semi's, and Owensboro beat Boone at their place. What is it about Boone that I am missing?

After all is said and done BGP pre-season rankings had 5 of the 6 class champions ranked #1. Only miss was in 2A and they had Ft. Campbell #3. Too bad Vegas doesnt' have these games on the board. Good job.

I realize that this is an Indiana player, but since his team played in the Border Bowl, a few of the poster here may have an interest. Anyways, Paul McIntosh of F.J. Reitz High School in Evansville, completed his senior season by leading Reitz to the Indiana 4A championship. He finished up with 1621 yards rushing for 34 TD's; and 2292 yards passing for 22 TD's. The article I read also mentioned that he had a 3.8 in the classroom. He will be continuing his career at Ball State next season.
