Too bad Vegas doesnt' have these games on the board. Good job. no offense but it's pretty much the same teams year in and year out. Now basketball is a different story though.

BGP had Beechwood beating Hazard in the finals. Hazard made it to the semifinals, losing to a Lexington Christian team that BGP had losing in the quarterfinals. BGP had three of the four semifinalists correct. 2A ... BGP had Newport Catholic beating Green County in the finals. Green County was beaten in the district finals. BGP had three of the four semifinalists correct. 3A ... BGP nailed the final four, getting it exactly right. The championship game prediction had Central beating Belfry 26-21 .... actual score was 27-17. 4A ... BGP had Lexington Catholic beating Warren East in the finals. Warren East was beaten in the semifinals by Lone Oak. BGP had three of the four semifinalists correct. 5A ... BGP had Highlands beating John Hardin in the finals. John Hardin lost a close game to Bowling Green in the quarterfinals. BGP had three of the four semifinalists correct. 6A ... BGP had St. Xavier beating Trinity in the finals. BGP had three of the four semifinalists correct. The championship game prediction was 28-24 St. Xavier ... the game was tied 28-28 at the end of regulation. So ... BGP had 19 of the 24 semifinalists pegged at the start of the playoffs. Impressive.

In defense of the BGP panel, there was absolutely no reason to feel that Lone Oak ws any kind of state contender when the preseason rankings were put together. Lone Oak was 5-5 and missed the playoffs in 2A last year and was essentially moving up a class. One other thing ... the preseason 3A rankings had Central at #1 and Paducah Tilghman at #2. And it was Tilghman that gave Central its closest call in the playoffs. Those guys are good ...
