Apollo got off to a good start with about a 4-5 point lead in the first. Henry Clay came back and lead by 3 at half. Henry Clay lead throughout the 3rd and most of the 4th. They would get up by 5-6 points and Apollo would come right back.

Henry Clay lead by 5 with about 2 minutes to go. But then had 5 straight turnovers to basically give the game away. Apollo cranked up the full court press, and Henry Clay didn't play very smart.

Prince Stewart had a great shooting night, with 22 points total. Ryan Brightwell had 11. Freshman Brandon Wilder had 6 points and played very well defensively. Junior TJ Barnes had a good game also off the bench.

Again Henry Clay played without their 2 best players, Moses and Boyd. But some of the other players are starting to come on the last 2 nights.

Boyd will be back from his recruiting visit this weekend. Henry Clay plays Sayre Tuesday, a tough one with Dunbar on Thursday. And next Saturday play Ashland at the KY PREP Classic in Montgomery.

Yea Brown did a great job. Morehead State got a steal in getting him. I could see him playing at a larger D1 school.

Of course if Apollo was playing without him last night and their next best player, and Henry Clay had their 2 best players back, I think the outcome would have been different. Even if Boyd weren't out on a recruiting visit, I'd still say HC wins by 8-10. But every team has injuries and issues. That's why I love high school basketball. Things can change so quickly. It's lots of fun.

Regardless, Apollo is a good team. Should come out of their region to the sweet 16.

I thought the surprise of the day was Lafayette over Adair County in OT. I have seen Adair a lot this year. They are very good.
