3rd Region: Muhlenberg South 53 Meade County 50

Muhlenberg South (14-14) wins on the road at Meade County (20-8) to open the regional tournament. This is somewhat an upset. Any third region fans that can help us out?

I'd agree that it is an upset. Especially considering that it was played in Brandenburg. Meade Co. doesnt' lose often at home.

Meade County was up 39-29 midway through the third quarter before South went on a 10-0 run to tie the game. Stinnett then scored twice for Meade to push the lead to 43-39, but South converted a three-point play with 5:46 left and took its first lead with 3:04 left at 46-45.

 

Meade County scored on a breakaway layup for a 47-46 lead, but South took the lead for good on a putback with 2:05 left.

 

Meade had two chances to tie the game in the final 5 seconds, but Casey Hubbard's wide-open 3 went halfway through the net and popped back out and Nick Stinnett's 3/4 quarter court heave hit the back of the rim and bounced off.
