Jeff Brohm was drafted in the MLB in addition to his football success. Brian played football, basketball, and baseball at Trinity. Helped the Shamrocks to a state football title, the program's first Sweet 16 appearance, and a state baseball state championship game appearance all as a senior. James Quick was a good basketball player in addition to his football success. DeVante Parker at Ballard was a good basketball player, as well.

At last it has been announced. Good hire for Simon Kenton. Wynn did good things at Mason County and will be interesting to see what he can now do at SK in his return to the NKY football scene.

Was able to watch this one on the stream. Big win for Spencer County and indeed proves that the eighth region is as competitive and open as any. Three consecutive threes out of the gate pulled the Bears up 9-0 early in this one and they rode that momentum all the way though the finish line. Congrats to Spencer County on a big win.

Injury troubles hitting the Rocks had right now. Lots of younger players being relied on more than expected at the current moment. Last night vs Calloway County the Rocks put it together in the second half only to lose a heartbreaker in the final seconds on a CC layup. Trinity is 4-7 and plays Cooper in their last game at the WGM Classic at Lex Cath tomorrow at 1pm. Expect much better things when the Rocks are fully healthy, which be sometime in January.

Was thinking just two guaranteed two games. I stand corrected. As to the Shamrocks performance lately, it seems to still be a work in progress. A talented team for sure and much more talented than what some of these recent results have showed. Offense has been non-existent this week.

Six wins in a row now for North Oldham and second impressive win in the KOB. David Levitch has the Mustangs rolling.

The Indians with a dominant win over the Shamrocks in the King of The Bluegrass Consolation. Adair County will play Newport in the consolation semifinals tomorrow night. Trinity goes home. The Shamrocks will be in action next week in Lexington at the WGM Holiday Classic at Lex Cath. They will take on Calloway County at 9pm on Friday, Dec. 27. Correction: Trinity plays Mater Lakes (Fla.) at 4:30pm tomorrow in a KOB consolation loser game.

For Trinity, a state championship is the expectation each and every season. Since 2000 (Beatty's first season), Trinity has only gone two consecutive seasons without playing in a state title game. The longest title game drought for the program since winning its first in 1968 was five years (1995-1999). Those five season were under two head coaches with Chuck Servino serving as head man from 1995-1998 before Kevin Wright's one-year stop in 1999.

He was stellar for South Laurel. Came up big time late for the Cardinals when they needed it too.

No. His fourth back and third full game.

Offense was hard to come by in this one. Trinity led by 12 with four minutes left. Let the game slip away but credit to South Laurel for taking advantage. That is a really good squad that the Cardinals have. Size-wise they were bigger than the Rocks and it showed. Especially one Julius Edmonds left the game at half with what seemed to be a concussion. He took a hard fall in the second quarter.

It hasn't even been two weeks since the Shamrocks hoisted the trophy on Kroger Field after winning state championship number 29 but it's never to early to start talking about next season. So let's look ahead to 2025 for the Trinity Shamrocks where they will enter the year looking to three-peat and gain state title number 30. Key Graduations: RB Chris Wilson, OG/C Josh Bratcher, LG Elijah Hernandez, WRs Jeremiah Lynn and Mason Scherer, K Carson Hilbert, LBs Nick Lococo and Jack DeBellis, S Caleb Ricks, DE Bailey Vance Key Returners: QB Zane Johnson, RB JB Berry, LT Nate Shields, RT Dakari Beckham, DEs Keandre Thompson and Jahbarri Frost, DBs Sekou Kamara, Myles Howze, and Sonny Bratcher-Gray 2024 Offense: 30 points per game. 7th in 6A 2024 Defense: 10.3 points allowed per game. 1st in 6A, 3rd statewide Where Trinity losses the most is on defense. The Rocks lose each of their top five tacklers from last season with Lococo, DeBellis, Ricks, and Vance, as well as LB John Wilson all graduating. Ricks was also led the team in interceptions (6). Trinity has reloaded very well on defense in recent years and could very well do that once more in 2025. The secondary may have especially good upside with CB Sekou Kamara (41 tackles, 3TFL) S Myles Howze (29 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 5 INTs), and CB Sonny Bratcher-Gray (4INTs) all back. Can't not also mention S Elijah Burns-Crump (20tackles, 2TFL, 2INTs). Kamara, Howze, and Crump were all sophomores. Bratcher-Gray was a junior. Expect the likes of Keandre Thompson (43 tackles, 12.5 TFL) and Jahbarri Frost (32 tackles, 7.5 TFL) to lead the charge for that Defensive line that was sooo good this season. Offensively is, perhaps, where most would expect to see the biggest growth from Trinity. The Rocks didn't seem to be world-beaters on that end of the field this season and had some VERY slow starts offensively. But most of those impact players return. That includes quarterback Zane Johnson who put up 2,0001 yards and 18 TDS through the air as a sophomore in his second year starting. He loses two of his top targets in Jeremiah Lynn and Mason Scherer but will have back Jason Hagan (365 yards, 5TDs) and Nation Roe-McBroom (340 yards, 4TDs), as well as Kaleb Warner (189 yards, 4TDs). That passing game is where Trinity likely needs to improve the most. Have to have confidence in the Trinity running game, however, with JB Berry back after a stellar sophomore season where he rushed for 780 yards and ran in a team-high 12 TDs. And that was in a season where he missed three games due to injury and wasn't 100% most of the year. Zach Floyd and Benji Rice also return and the Rocks had a number of younger (freshman, sophomore) weapons that could be used at multiple positions on offense. Schedule-wise, I know that Trinity will open the year with a home contest versus PRP. Carmel (Ind.) is also coming to Marshall Stadium next season as will district foes Oldham County and Eastern. Ballard will be away. Fredrick Douglass and T renewed that home-and-home contract. St. Xavier will be neutral site and Male will be at their place. Bryan Station and Center Grove (Ind.) drop from the schedule. Moeller (Ohio) is added along with the aforementioned crosstown foe Panthers.

Trinity was without their second-leading scorer to this point in the year in JR Xavier Cosby. Jayden Johnson was playing his third full game and looked like he's getting his mojo back in the 4th quarter. Was a 26-26 game at the half. Seneca has been tested early this season and has had some close losses. A very young team that looks to have a high ceiling especially in future years.

Big win for the Bruins. Coach Willis' squad ended last season stronger than they started and despite losing some talent, I did not expect them to be down another year in a row. They do indeed get a big signature win early in the season tonight. Would love to see the stats and hear how this one went down.

A very tight contest in Steinhauser Gymnasium tonight. Props to Atherton for a great battle. The Ravens' duo of Emmanuel Jones and Jeffry Johnson gave the Rocks a whole lot of trouble and could not miss for most of the night. Jayden Johnson played his first full game of the season for Trinity and managed well. He hit the three free throws to send Trinity into OT. Julius Edmonds was 100% from the FT line (or close too it) and that made a big difference. Trinity (3-1) now heads to Newport tomorrow for a battle with Princeton (Ohio). Atherton (4-3) has Meade County next on Tuesday. The way this game went tonight, wouldn't surprise me if these two were to meet again in the 27th District Title game. Atherton looked like the second-best team in the district tonight and it wouldn't surprise me if they made some noise this season...maybe even in the LIT?

The Marshals make the trip to Paducah and get the win versus the Mustangs in a big first region battle. Was a 34-29 Marshall County lead at half. McCracken County had things tied 36-36 three minutes into the third quarter before Marshall got hot and ended the quarter on a 22-7 run. That included 12 (I believe) straight points through the three minute mark of the third. The Marshals move to 5-0 and looked very impressive - and well-balanced - in the victory. Next up for Coach Donohoo's squad is a neutral site battle with Owensboro Catholic at Hopkinsville on Saturday. McCracken drops to 1-2 on the season and records their second loss in a row. The Mustangs play Montgomery Bell (Tenn.) at Calloway County in a neutral site game on Saturday.

Good hire for the Eagles. Morton did a good job at Ballard. Can he help bring another JCPS 6A school back to a higher level of competitiveness? Morton led Ballard to double digit wins each of his last two seasons as the head man of the Bruins in 2022 and 2023. A combined 21-7 in those two years alone with wins over Male, Trinity, and Manual.

WOW! Big victory for the Raiders. After losing their first three by an average of 4.3 points Ryle gets their first win of the season and over one of the perceived top teams in the region and state. Seems the arrival of their football guys is a big impact. Landon Lorms led the way with 17 in the win. He's fresh off a season on the gridiron where he had 958 yards and 14 TDs receiving. He had recorded 147 yards and 3TDs in the 6A title game vs Trinity on Saturday.

Obviously 6A has been dominated by Louisville in terms of Championships and Trinity has been on top more times than not. The other usual suspects of Male and St. Xavier have hoisted the trophy in the past and are in the mix every year as well. I do, however, agree with @hrcarrier's post about the gap closing. We have certainly seen some programs get better and improve in 6A. That Ryle team was really good and had all of us Trinity faithful scared entering into Saturday and through the third quarter for sure. Hats off to them as well as the likes of Bryan Station and Fredrick Douglass. Have been very good teams. Want to specifically point out Great Crossing, which just began as a school in 2019. The Warhawks are coming off their best season ever, having gone 10-4 and upsetting Manual in the quarterfinals. Here's a look at what they have done over the past four years Great Crossing Football 2021-2024 2021: 8-3, first round loss to Scott County. Only losses came to Douglass and their rival Cardinals 2022: 8-3, first round loss to Cov. Cath. Only losses to Scott Co., Douglass, and Cov. Cath 2023: 2-9, first round loss to Male 2024: 10-4, semifinals loss to Ryle. Only losses to Ryle, Cooper, and Madison Central - upset Manual in quarterfinals (biggest win in program history?) Overall: 27-19, One state semifinals appearance.

Last time the Bears were competitive was under Wheeler. Looks like a good hire and we’ll see how this second go round turns out.

Godzilla is still alive and well. And with as much youth as this team had, dare I say, could get even stronger in 2025 and 2026. As to scheduling, the Rocks always schedule tough and due to that are well tested come playoff time. It truly never gets old seeing the boys over on Shelbyville Road win year after year.
