I think as a Blue Blood as a program that has been successful over a decent period of time (ie. Kentucky basketball) and who beating, even when they are down, means more that most wins. Carmel is always a talented squad. Trinity right now is in the throws of a gauntlet stretch: Moeller, Carmel, Male, St.X, Cincy X. This stretch of the season is what will get this squad prepared to pull together and put it all on the line come November.

On Friday night, the Trinity Shamrocks will welcome the Greyhounds of Carmel (IN) to St. Matthew's for a battle between Kentucky and Indiana powers. Trinity enters Friday night sporting a 2-1 record and coming off their first loss of the season, which came at the hands of Moeller (OH) in a 24-21 defeat. Carmel (IN) is 3-0 and coming off a blowout 48-0 win over Centerville (OH). Series History: Trinity leads 6-3. That includes a 41-14 win in 2023 and 35-32 win in 2025. The Shamrocks have been headlined early this season by a solid rushing attack of JB Berry and Ashton Taylor. The junior and sophomore have combined for 325 yards and five touchdowns thus far. Taylor County transfer Cross Watson (Sr.) and junior Jayce Duvall have paced the receiving corp. On defense, watch out for the Rocks defensive line as they have set the tone and caused plenty of havoc in the backfield in each of the three contests. I have not watched a down of Carmel football this year but they have beaten each of their three opponents thus far pretty handedly, or that is at least what the final scores suggest. Carmel has three DI-bound seniors which included QB Anthony Coellner (Troy) as well as safety Issac Nelson (Wake Forest) and defensive lineman Kaiden Bower (Charlotte).

Did not get to see this one but a good win for DeSales. Certainly didn't expect a blowout being the renewal of this rivalry, but did think Holy Cross would have the Colts outmatched.

Really was a tale of two halfs I believe. The Rocks came out strong and really punched Moeller in the mouth. Offense looked in sync with a long first drive to score. The Defense was locked in and the D-line was pressuring nicely. But after that first Moeller score in the 3rd and the subsequent INT, it looked like a different Trinity team. The refs were not great for Trinity. A few choice spots, which included a few first down calls for Moeller, and some really bad missed holding calls. But that's the game and you have to play above it. The Rocks did not. Never the less, a good game between two very talented teams. Trinity moves forward with big meetings versus Carmel (Ind.), Male, and St. Xavier also coming within the month of September.

Georgia has always been a good football state, obviously. But the past 10 or so years with population trends, the Peach State has gotten even better. Metro Atlanta is chalk full of athletes.

From what I've seen just through a quick google search, plus what I've been told by Trinity folks, the stadium does appear to have just 1800 seats. Moeller, to my knowledge, has never had a home field. Last time the Rocks traveled up there, the Crusaders were playing in Norwood Shea Stadium which just has a home side but pretty good size. 5128, per Ohio Stadiums.com.

The Trinity Shamrocks will head north on Friday night to take on Cincinnati power Archbishop Moeller (Ohio). It will be the first of two trips to Cincinnati for the Shamrocks this season as they also play St. Xavier (Ohio) on the road in October. The meeting between the Shamrocks and Crusaders will mark the 12th battle all-time between these two programs. They last met in 2022 in a game Moeller won 28-3. Moeller leads the all-time series 8-3. Coming into Friday night, Trinity is coming off a big in-state battle with Frederick Douglass where the Shamrocks dominated in a 37-0 victory. It was a big night for some new faces for the Rocks. Sophomore Ashton Taylor led the team with 84 rushing yards and two TDs, which included taking the opening kickoff to the house. Jr. Taylor County transfer Cross Watson had 3 receptions for 50 yards. Jayce Duvall and Liam Sellinger each had one reception TD. Those two were used very, very minimally last year. LB Luke Vize leads a defense that has yet to allow a point this season with 10 tackles. Moeller is 1-1 and coming off a 43-42 loss to Mount St. Carmel (Ill.) on Saturday in a neutral site battle in Ironton, Ohio. No stats are up from that game yet but the Crusaders, who are ranked #1 in Ohio at the moment, have Kentucky commit Matt Pinatoski at QB. He was 9-for-21 and had 79 yards in the air during their opener against Princeton. Senior RB Tyler Josleyn had 55 yards and 2TDs in that opener. Another notable stat from that opener: Moeller's D had 5 INTs.

I will take the home team in this one. Holy Cross has looked much more in sync than DeSales from what I've seen through the first two weeks of the season. RB/LB Jamari Pennebaker is fun to watch on both sides of the ball. The Cougar defense has looked very good.

The DeSales Colts will make the short trip from Kenwood Drive to Dixie Highway to face arch rival Holy Cross Cougars. Friday’s contest will mark the return of the rivalry between these two Catholic foes, which dates back to 1984 when Holy Cross was conceived following the merger of the all-girls Angela Merici and all-boys Bishop David. Holy Cross and DeSales have not played since 2018. DeSales holds a 20-15 series lead and has won each of the last eight meetings between the two. On Friday, these two teams will take the field coming from opposite storylines. The visiting DeSales is 0-2 and coming off a 36-28 loss at home versus Nelson County last week. Holy Cross enters the game having started the year strong with wins over WEB DuBois and Providence (Ind.). The Cougars’ 48-35 win across the river last night gave Holy Cross their first 2-0 start since 2021 and snapped Providence’s 15-game win streak. Stats from this Friday's games have not been posted yet for either team.

Douglass hasn't shown to be as impressive as they have been in the past so far this season. But I expect this one to be a pretty good game. Manual takes it by at least a TD.

Great to see. Always liked watching him at Douglass. Good to see him making and impact early in college.

Senior RB Jamari Pennebaker led the way for the Cougar with four TDs in the win.

The Cougars headed across the river and knocked off defending Indiana 1A state champion Providence, snapping their 15-game winning streak. Holy Cross is 2-0 for the first time since 2021. The Cougars own the series with Providence 11-8. The cross-river Catholic foes have played every year since 2011.

Much closer than I expected.

I saw Trinity winning this game by at least a few touchdowns but certainly didn't expect it to be a running clock. Great effort all around by the Shamrocks tonight.
