Beechwood at Mayfield Predictions/Updates
As a Mayfield fan and homer, I think the Cardinals will be hungry to avenge some demons for the last couple of years. My only concern is similar to the 2011 season, when Mayfield lost to Hazard in the championship. I'm thoroughly convinced the reason we lost that game was because we were beat up the week before in a very physical game. Last nights game with LCA was also very physical. Hopefully, by the time friday rolls around, we'll be ready to go. I do think it could help us having the starters having to play 4 quarters the last couple of weeks. When you haven't had too in the last 2 months, that could be a factor late in the game. Either way, should be a great game.

Paducah Tilghman 42 Spencer County 0
I imagine CC will be favored in this game, but, PT is more than capable of winning. They have a very athletic team with a ton of play makers. Their biggest obstacle could be that long drive down and having to get their legs under them.

Mayfield 58 Lexington Christian Academy 36
Just home from the game. Wow, I'm still bouncing off the walls. The Cards came to play tonight. Their offensive execution was phenomemal. Cartwright was on target all night long and their D didn't shut them down, but, slowed them down enough to get a few stops and forced some turnovers that were huge. The Hensley kid from LCA was everything he was hyped to be and then some. What a tough player. Both teams never quit and the score was a bit misleading as the Cards scored a couple of late TDs to seal the win. You could tell by midway in the 4th that LCA was about out of gas chasing all that speed Mayfield had across the field all night long. They looked like they had about a 25-30 lb per man advantage in the trenches, but, they were gassed late and the Cards took advantage. Great win for the Cards. LCA was an outstanding team.

1A RPI Quarterfinal Matchups
I'm anxious to see the Raceland/Sayre game. I was thinking that Sayre's record was padded due to a weak schedule and it was to some extent, but, after the way they handled Paris, they appear to be better than I initially thought. Will they be competitive in this one?

Lexington Christian Academy at Mayfield Predictions/Updates
It looks to me like you have OB Catholic having a cake walk to the title game with the other big 3 battling it out to get to Kroger Field. I do think LCA has the most talent of the other teams and should come out of it, but, certainly not a cake walk. If they do knock off Mayfield and Beechwood, it'd be the first time in forever that neither of those teams are in the finals. How long has it been since one or both of these teams were not in the title game?

PT is big, physical, fast, deep and athletic. Plus, they're versatile. Can run it or get it done through the air. Their offense is special. Their D has been good, not great, but, have a lot of talent on that side of the ball, as well. IMO, they have a legit shot to win it all, but, at the very least, will be a very tough out for some one.

Graves County at Bowling Green Predictions/Updates
I was impressed with their offense in that game, Their QB is a problem, no doubt, My comment about their offense was comparing them to Tilghman and Mayfield, which both have very explosive offenses themselves. Not a knock on BGs offense, at all.

Cooper at Scott County Predictions/Updates
This should be one of the better games across the state.

No, once he came out, he didn't return.

Graves County at Bowling Green Predictions/Updates
I watched them play LCA and their D had no answers for them. In BG'S defense, it was their 1st game of the year. I'm sure they've made some adjustments and have improved some. Now don't misunderstand me and think I'm comparing Graves to LCA, I'm not. I certainly don't expect Graves to score 56 points, like LCA did, but, I can definately see them scoring 21 or so.

Graves County at Bowling Green Predictions/Updates
Not sure the status of Graves QB. Of course, if he's unable to play, that will make a big difference in how close they'll be able to keep it.

Graves County at Bowling Green Predictions/Updates
As I stated, I think BG wins this game. I just feel like Graves is playing there best ball of the year at this time. I respect your opinion, but, I disagree that BG's offense is much better than PT or Mayfield, if at all. I also feel BG's defense has some holes in it that Graves may be able to exploit that they couldn't against those 2.

Graves County at Bowling Green Predictions/Updates
I disagree. I'd say Tilghman or Mayfield could play with BG and I doubt either would shy away from a shoot out. Both of those teams are loaded with athletes and explosive offenses.

Graves County at Bowling Green Predictions/Updates
The Graves D will cause BG some problems. Greenwood couldn't budge them running the ball or passing it. The Eadles were in there backfield all night long. I realize the Purples have more speed and playmakers then the Dragons, but, they'll still be challenged against that stingy D. I also think the Eagles are good enough to sustain some drives. They're playing there best football of the year right now and there confidence is high. I'm predicting BG comes out on top in the end, but, in a lot closer game than most think. BG 28 GC 21

Murray at Mayfield Predictions/Updates
The Cards will be able to score at will. Murray has some athletes that can break off a play or 2 to score, but, they won't keep up with Mayfield's weapons. I expect the Cards to score 35 to 42 points in the 1st half and have a running clock shortly thereafter with the JV unit playing the majority of the 2nd half and all of the 4th quarter.. My guess for a final score will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 56-14.

Graves County 22 Greenwood 7
I was really impressed with the Eagles tonight. B Green better not take this team for granted. I doubt they can shut down the Purples like they did Greenwood tonight, but, I do think they're good enough to somewhat slow them down and if they can make it to the 4th quarter with a chance, anything can happen.

Graves County 22 Greenwood 7
The Eagles defense gets the credit for this win. They were outstanding, especially in the 2nd half. Greenwood had no answers, unable to run or pass. Alot of it had to do with field position. Only once in the 2nd half did they begin there offensive series outside there own 20. The Dragon defense did all they could to keep them in the game, but, Graves offense did just enough to pull away late.

BluegrassPreps.com Class 2A Football Rankings 10/30
I agree. The top 4 are all quality teams capable of winning it all. To me, there's a huge drop off after that. Somerset and Green Co are on the next level and then you have 6 or 7 decent teams on the next level.

Greenwood at Graves County Predictions/Updates
This should be one of the better 1st round match ups across the state. Two fairly evenly matched teams. I think I'll take the home team in this one in a closely contested game... 27-21

Not very well, I'm afraid. Most likely worse result than the Taylor Co loss.

2A Playoffs
I'd be upset if I were LCA. In most polls outside the rpi formula the KHSAA uses, LCA is #1 in AA and deserved. They've played a brutal non district schedule with great results. Now, for them to win a title, they'll have to beat Mayfield on the road, Beechwood on the road and then OB Catholic on a neutral field in the championship. That's brutal. If they do manage to win it with that 3 game gauntlet just tip your caps and give credit where credits due. As for Mayfield, they'd rather get LCA at home, regardless of the round you have to play them in. You're likely gonna have to beat them somewhere along the way anyhow, so, get any advantage you can and at War Memorial, the Cards are extremely tough to beat.

2A Playoffs
Barring the favorites continue on into the playoffs, the 3rd round will likely look like this: LCA at Mayfield / Green Co at OB Catholic / Martin Co at Beechwood / Shely Valley at Somerset 4th round Somerset at OB Catholic / LCA at Beechwood {if LCA wins 3rd round} Somerset at OB Catholic / Beechwood at Mayfield {if Mayfield wins 3rd round}
