Nice win for the Knights over a preseason top 10 team. Catholic finished 19-27 on 2 point attempts. That will win you a lot of games. Five players finished with at least 7 points for the Knights.

Frederick Douglass is going to be a load this season. Great Crossing should find their footing as the new starters get more experience. Good win for the Broncos on what was a tough opener for both teams.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things. It was the big 5 all season in 2A. But with Somerset's performance last week vs OCS, should they be ranked ahead of Mayfield in the final poll?

I don't know if it is still this way. But in 2019 the visitors dressed in the basement at the gym. It's a long walk, but it should be up to then whether they choose to use it during halftime.

If you can't provide the visitors with a locker room to use at halftime, you shouldn't be hosting a playoff game. At the very least the home team should have you stay outside as well.

I'm pretty sure what happened was the white hat blew the play dead even the Boyle County quarterback first tried to roll over on the ball. It was an inadvertent whistle, and the down was replayed from the previous spot. They gave no penalty indication, and the bag was placed at the previous spot.

And Somerset it picked 5th in the 12th Region. Sounds like they are playing teams picked around the same level in the corresponding region. So playing teams picked 4th or 5th isn't acceptable, but then playing a team picked 2nd in their region isn't good enough either?

I'm not sure where you are seeing Somerset not playing a tough out of region schedule. They have: Adair County 2 time defending Region 5 Champion, 30-6 last season, and picked 4th in the 5th Region; Clinton County 30-3 last season, picked 2nd in the 4th Region; Corbin 19-11 last season, picked 5th in the 13th Region; Powell County 17-12 last season, picked 2nd in the 14th Region; Metcalfe County only 12-22 last season, but picked 4th in the 4th Region.

How big will the indoor facility be?

Somerset moved the ball well against OC, even with their limited passing game. I don't see any way that the Aces can hold Beechwood below the 3 scores that Somerset got, and they most likely get 2-3 more. That means Catholic will need at least 35 to have a shot to win. Carothers has a great arm, and can hurt you with his legs as well, more by keeping plays alive until his receivers get open than by just taking off. I did notice that on some of his short passes across the middle that Carothers kind of gets on top of the ball, and it comes out with the nose pointing down. That led to 2 balls being batted down, and a few where his receivers had to slow or stop because the ball came to them low. On the deep balls he put a little bit too much on most of them. That led to the Aces only averaging about 6 yards an attempt. If Beechwood holds the Owensboro Catholic passing attack to similar numbers, the Aces are in trouble. Miles Edge had a great game running the ball, and was the difference against Somerset with 153 yards on 16 carries. He runs hard, and is extremely quick in traffic. They need another big game out of him to have a chance. Owensboro Catholic has a nice team, but I think they're a notch or 2 below Beechwood this season. Give me the Tigers 42-21.

I get what you are saying about Bowling Green not having a typical Bowling Green Season. But the teams that beat Bowling Green this season have a combined record of 81-9. All of them except for Scott County are still playing this weekend. They had single score losses to Scott County, Owensboro Catholic, and Christian Academy of Louisville. They lost by 17 to St. Xavier. The only team that blew then out was South Warren. Well, until Atherton put a running clock on the Purples in the 3rd quarter last week. You can't always get a lot from comparing scores. But Bowling Green hung in there with all those really good teams except Atherton and South Warren. And look what South Warren did to Pulaski County.

It would sound crazy at most schools, but will Coach Dew's seat get hot if the Birds don't get to the finals next season? 19-5 is great at most schools. But they've been crushed by their rivals at Tilghman 2 years in a row, and haven't been on LCA's level.
