Somerset for the third time in 3 years travels to Owensboro. This year it’s in the regional final and not the semifinals. 

Somerset two years ago was not close but last year played a very well game plan against the Aces. Somerset defeated Danville in a close game in the second round and the Aces handled the Rockets of Crittenden County. 

Will the Aces make it 3 in a row or will the Briar Jumpers pull the upset?

Aces are very good this year, as I said in a previous post - wake me up when the semi’s get here, but I think a trip to Kroger is on the horizon.  

I think OC still wins, but this game may be closer than expected if the weather holds out. Supposed to be rainy on Friday, which plays into the physical play of Somerset's offense. Somerset's only chance is to control the clock and get a few key turnovers. It's gotta be an ugly game. 

I think this will be a good game. Catholic will pull away in the 2nd half. Somerset can keep it close and get some stops in 2nd half then this will be a game. 
 

a lot of ifs but Somerset gave them a game last year.

I agree I think it could be closer than expected...I think Somerset against Danville was a off night but it's all about survive and move on...I have liked Somerset all year long but this one will really tell me how good OCATH is...I'm excited about this game..

OC 30 Somerset 13. 

I honestly can see this game going either way. Somerset will be able to run the ball against OC and if it’s close going into the fourth then the Aces defense could be worn out. I do think the Aces have enough firepower to win this because Carothers and that offense are really playing well. The big question for me is can that defense limit the amount of long drives that they give up against that big Somerset o-line?

Owensboro Catholic 42-20.

Somerset has size, but I think OCath pulls away late in the game. Somerset missed a lot of opportunities last year, but I think OCath's defense was significantly better last season, IMO. This one could end up being close, but I predict OCath will live to see another week.

I think part of the result against Danville was the game plan employed by the Admirals.  They came into the game averaging about 10 pass attempts per game. They threw it 36 times against the Jumpers.  They had 2 really long completions where Somerset had 2 defenders around the receivers, on one they just mistimed their leap, and on the other they just didn't make a play on the ball. Somerset did great against the run. They held Meaux to less than 3 yards a carry.  

Owensboro Catholic throws it almost 30 times per game. So they won't catch Somerset by surprise there.  The Jumpers just have to figure out a way to slow them down.  That's much easier said than done.  Perhaps the weather will help them out. Weird things can happen in a rain game.

I can confirm the crew will be heading down to call the game, with weather I am not sure about the graphics, stats and replay that is sometimes provided. But the commentary will be there!  They usually put the team on the roof of the press box.

I cannot speak for Owensboro Catholic, but I believe you guys should have some room on the opposite end as us in the press box.  I have watched a few games and you guys do an excellent job with that stream.  I shouted it out yesterday on Live at 5.  Safe travels and we will see ya tonight!

If Somerset can use the power run for 3-4 yards at a time and run the clock to limit possessions while ending their drives with points, this will be a 4 quarter game.  The size and power up front will be a very interesting test for the Owensboro Catholic defense.  Outside the Owensboro game, I don't think the Aces D gets enough credit for how they have played this year.  The outliers are the tacking against smash mouth run attacks in Hancock and Mclean.  They marched the ball between the 30's but couldn't put points on the board.

On the other side, this Owensboro Catholic offense is the real deal.  It all starts up front with that massive OL.  JP Carrico is getting offers from everywhere and it would not shock me if he doesn't end up at Notre Dame when all is said and done.  With clean pockets, Carothers has been a surgeon.  He has not thrown an interception since the first half of week 5.  Woodward and Thomas have really came on strong late in the season after being banged up early.  Ebelhar is a nice security blanket in this offense, similar to his brother last season.  Combine them with Xavier Maddox, who is a top 20 WR in the state and this has become a very consistent group.  If they need to run the ball, they can certainly do that too with a number of backs.  Miles Edge showed what he could do early in the season at Bowling Green.  If they need it, Coach Morris has it in his back pocket.

The whole game hinges on Somerset grinding clock and finishing with points.  If they can't do that, it could be a long night.  I think I will go somewhere in between and say 35-21 Aces in a good one!
