  1. If he already lives in Adair County, but goes to another school, and transfers to Adair County, he'll have to sit out a year won't he?
  2. Only one guy was saying he was going to Somerset, and I tried to tell @BEChargers that we, in Somerset, were not hearing that.
  3. I talked to someone directly involved in the process, and though I didn't ask for any names, was told that they have interviews to do that probably won't be able to be done until next week when Christmas break begins. So, unless that changes, I wouldn't look for anything until after Christmas.
  4. Are you sure about that? Here's what is written in two articles that I read about the game: At the heart of the blown call is the lack of an instant replay system in Georgia high school football -- even at the state championship level -- a problem that has altered the outcome of state championships before. And The lack of an instant replay system at the state championship level for Georgia high school football will hopefully get analyzed this off-season. It’s not the first time a blown call has cost a team a state championship in the state of Georgia, either. In 2017, Peach County lost to Calhoun. Noah Whittington clearly crossed goal line with the football in his hands, and it should have been called a touchdown. However, referees ruled the pass incomplete. Everything I have read says that they don't use replay in the Georgia State Finals.
  5. I had a feeling that this was going to end up being a test. Yale has a nice club, and after having a week off UK figured to take awhile to get going. That's not the way that it went, of course. The Cats came out hot and hit the lull in the middle. I don't think that having Knowling out made that big of a difference. Molloy played out of his mind in his place and probably wouldn't have come close to 14 points if Knowling was playing. That being said, I was a little bit disappointed in the spacing on offense again. Kentucky needs to get up more than 11 three point shots. But, I can't fault them for giving it to Oscar and getting out of the way. Solid win over a quality opponent.
  6. I thought I posted this one in the Girl's Basketball thread. I think Rowan boys beat Somerset. Coach McWhorter has been very kind to my daughter, who just started playing basketball last season and loved her camp. We've made it to all of the home games and would have went up to this one but I had to head to Atlanta for work. She loves the all of the Coaches and wants to go to all of the games. I did explain to her what was going on (she's eight) and we watched Hoosiers last night. She made it through the first two games before tapping out and going to sleep at about 11pm. Somerset got really lucky to get both Coach Young and Coach McWhorter. I hope we have them for awhile. I really can't believe that Lincoln let Coach McWhorter go, they messed up there.
  7. Final from Knightstown, IN. Somerset improves to 4-1 on the season, while Rowan County drops to 3-2. Neat experience for these two Kentucky teams to play in the gym from the movie.
  8. I looked it up. He was 277-66 at Danville and 326-106 overall in Kentucky. So he was, what 49-40 before Danville? He would have been 39-38 before that last Anderson County team.
  9. The former Frankfort coach? Has he applied?
  10. I know that the Admiral faithful are upset. But, for comparison sake, wasn't Coach Harp's record right around .500 before taking over Danville in 1988?
  11. That would be an interesting situation. I think Clay applied (or been contacted) for the job twice before, though I may not have all the details correct. I don't remember the year, but Jay Cobb had decided to take the Henderson County job and Clevenger was going to be his replacement at Somerset. Cobb reconsidered and Clevenger ended up at Henderson County instead. Then, following the 2009 season, when Cobb had resigned before the season, and Robbie Lucas took the Jumpers to the 3A finals as interim coach, Clevenger was the choice of the principal to take over full time. But the parents advocated for Coach Lucas instead. As it turned out both got a State Championship out of the deal. It will be interesting to see if the third time's a charm.
  12. Final from Somerset. The Lady Jumpers move to 3-1, and 1-0 in the district. The Rockets fall to 0-3, and 0-1 in the district.
  13. Final from Somerset. The Briar Jumpers move to 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in the district. The Rockets drop to 1-3, 0-1 in the district.
  14. I don't disagree at all. But I don't think there will be enough teaching positions to bring in a bunch of experienced assistants. Most first time coaches need experience to support them. I think an experienced head coach that might bring some paraprofessional assistants with them might be a better fit.
  15. Western beats Valley by 100 points according to the scoreboard. That's a lot of points coach.
  16. My all time favorite: "Here we go....Everybody on their feet. Here's Sheron, throwing it for the end zone....Wide open! Touchdown Somerset!!! Tate Madden was wide open and Somerset is your 2019 State Champion, for the first time in history!"
  17. My son was the sophomore right tackle for Somerset in that game. The early pick six set the tone in that one and Somerset never could get their offense going. The quarterback had tweaked his ankle pretty good the week before and just didn't have the normal zip on his passes. That being said, it was a one score game into the 2nd half when PT was gifted a touchdown. The receiver caught a ball on the Somerset sideline and stepped out of bounds around midfield. The ref didn't see it and he kept going for a touchdown. I had commissioned @theguru to take pictures that day--he might still have a picture of it. I was in the set that was posted. PT might have ended up scoring anyway, but that one pretty much sealed it with the way their defense was playing that day. No way we were scoring twice. They were everywhere. Great story, I just hate that it happened against us.
  18. I could very well be wrong, but I don't see them hiring a first year head coach.
  19. While that would be great as a team, only 11 of the 371 Division 1 teams have a FT% of 80% or better this season. Last season 3 teams out of 358 shot 80% from the line as a team.
  20. Cal's last 4 teams at UK from the free throw line: 21-22 72.6% 20-21 72.9% 19-20 79.7% 18-19 73.9%
