Just goes to show you, kids who wouldnt start at one program can go to a smaller school and put up big numbers when they are the only horse in town. If Macke were still at Highlands and playing Latin, he wouldnt have seen a third of these points because he wouldnt have been on the floor. This is why neither Rusch nor Macke were listed in the Regions top 10. They are the only scorers on their teams and they mostly play weak competition.

Are there any basketball players that also play football at Scott County? They have two big games this weekend with Ballard on the hardwood and Male on the turf! I was just curious if Scott County hoops will be missing anyone when they play Ballard Friday.

I think a ranking of 3 is fair for these Wildcats. The first 3 weeks will be a great assessment with games against Campbell, Highlands, Boone, and Conner. They may be undefeated at that point. However, here are some question marks: Do they have 5 players that can hurt you? Cooper and CCH both do. Can they play defense in all 5 spots? Cooper and CCH will. Will they play as a team or will it be street ball? Team ball will win the 9th. Do they have any depth to overcome foul trouble or injuries? The reigning champs from the past two years both do. And let's not forget coaching ... Newport lost a few close games last year which I suspect will fall in their favor this season. Looking forward to watching them!

Holmes can def compete with both Beechwood and Holy Cross. They will likely beat HC at least once and have a chance of beating Beechwood.

Male definitely belongs in these rankings. And UHA is way over ranked. Kyky can only carry them so far.

Great job with this True Blue! In addition to moving Cooper ahead of S. Laurel, I would also move them ahead of Campbell. And I agree that GRC is ranked to high. But honestly, I know this list is tough to substantiate. Fortunately, we will have a better feel for where everyone stands once some real games are played over the next two weeks!!!!

Can you elaborate on this? Cov Cath travelled last year to Bowling Green for a Semi Final. Seems to me, it should be there year to host. Regardless, CCH will thump them by 21+.

Scott looled good over a talented Roger Bacon team. As did Cov Cath over an athletic Withrow. Its gonna be a team effort for the Colonels this year with multiple kids sharing the limelight. They were led yesterday by Fleek, Disken, and Green. Dixie may be a bit over ranked. Karim looked good but losing the transfers appeared to have hurt them.

Great summary OGS! Dontaie Allen is the obvious beat player! And I love watching Jolly play - he is an all around athlete! The only thing I would challenge is that Brossart is a favorite to win the All A. They may be the best All A in the 10th but that is as far as i would go (unless you are only referring to them winning the 10th)

I dont know much about the Ohio Schools. Does anybody have any scoop as to who the better teams / matchups will be? Based on recent history, I suspect Lasalle will compete well with Dixie and Roger Bacon should play with Scott. This is always a great event and I am looking forward to watching the boys play.

I just noticed they host Cov Cath early in the season. Any predictions there? One of the two will likely have just finished playing for the state championship in football. How many of the hoops impact players are football players?

Moreno should be a top candidate for Mr. Basketball. I am looking forward to watching him this year!

Walton Verona has the best team this season and should be the favorite to win the region and I suspect they will be a Top 10 team in the state.
