  1. Will Vinson play Saturday night v Simon Kenton?
  2. I sure wish this game was closer to the border. Lexington is just a little too far for this Hoosier. I will wait to watch Newport on Wednesday when they host Cov Cath. I have a buddy with a kid on Newport so I consider them my adopted 9th region team this year. Go Cats!
  3. I was there. The game and atmosphere was top notch. Fans and players from both teams really getting into the game. So much so a Newport fan tried to go over behind Highlands bench and listen to their play calls. Harding and Sisson were jawing at each other hard in the 4th quarter and Harding even had some words with the Highlands student section. Couldn't ask for a better atmosphere prior to Christmas. Newport held a 5-6 pt advantage for most of the 2nd half. The halfcourt end of the half shot didn't hurt Newport. Highlands pressure in the final 2 minutes seemed to bother Newport and Highlands cut it to one with Sisson on the line. He made the first one and it looked to be heading into overtime. Harding drove the floor and got the foul call with 0.4 seconds left. He hit them both. Ballgame. I fully expect these two teams to see each other at district's and maybe even at a region final. I really liked Sisson's game. He hustles and goes after it. I liked a few kids on Newport too. I think the 9th is very competitive with Highlands, Newport, Beechwood, Cooper, and Cov Cath all in the mix. Not a dominate team but anyone could knock off anyone in a given night. I really enjoyed my first 9th region game of the season.
  4. Who wins this one and why? This will be my first 9th region game of the season.
  5. I'm considering heading over to watch this game. I'm not sure when or if I'll get another chance to see these teams and I'd like to see them both. Thoughts and analysis of the game and will it be a good basketball atmosphere? Never been to CC.
  6. I would have loved to see this game. Unfortunately coaching duties called. IMO this is a very good showing for GC and says to me they can contend with anyone in the 8th. And an obvious W for Collins beating a solid team on the road. I'm going to try and catch GC at WV this coming Tuesday. Can't wait. Will be first time seeing Miles.
  7. IMO Newport just got on Cooper's level and close to Cov Cath. 4 of 5 starters returning I believe with guys that are athletes and can shoot. I know they haven't had much region success but if their shots are falling and they're running and gunning, they can beat anyone in the 9th. Harding matched up on Thelen will be worth watching. If my coaching duties allow it I may have to make the trip east to catch that game on Jan. 2
  8. Ben Michel, I believe he played for Indiana Elite. Very good aau program up here. I would deff. not sleep on South Oldham come region time. I haven't seen Spencer's team yet but I want to. May have to make that Spencer- Shelby game with the way this thread sounds. Miles @ WV will be hard for any team to handle and apparently they have another good size boy, maybe 6'5-6'6. One of the few games in the 8th last yr was SK v GC at the region and the Niece kid is legit. If Conley is a better '21 player than him then he's seriously good. And Comer is one of the top shooters I've seen in some years (Indiana h.s. included). Should be a fun yr. Is it basketball season yet?
  9. Why is the kid even trying to go to Marshall Co.? He's from the DMV. Lots of big time prep schools over there. He'd get more out of playing a national schedule and against better competition for a place like Oak Hill Academy or Montrose Christian than he would @ Marshall Co.
  10. I said earlier nobody seems to be mentioning any of the Oldham's as contenders. I have a feeling South will be there in the end. The 8th looks to be very competitive with depth this year. I am going to try and invest some time into going to some of the bigger games this coming winter. I completely forgot about Spencer Co. too. I know ppl will say they haven't made it to Henry Co. in a while but I have confidence them and Collins will come out of that district. Walton and Simon Kenton, South Oldham and NOT Trimble, Gallatin and ??? (the team all the other teams will want to draw). Seems to be 6 possible contenders in the 8th IMO
  11. Wow, bold statement. I know Gallatin gave WV all they could handle in the All A 8th final but with Miles back and the height WV will have it seems to me Gallatin is in that 2nd tier category behind WV and Collins. Besides Coomer and one of the area's best coaches what does Gallatin have returning? Btw, seems odd to talk about favorites and not mention any of the Oldham schools.
  12. All the kids from Barrett middle school to stay together and enroll at Male next August
  13. No, not dominate but give a team outside of Trinity and Ballard a real challenge. And IMO in 2 yrs compete for and be favorites to win the 7th. Doesn't Schooler have a couple real nice frosh. @ Fern creek coming back? Like Jaden Rogers.
  14. Trinity will be the team to beat next yr. But if that 8th grade group all comes into Male together, the Trinity/ Ballard reign will come to a halt in 2019-20.
  15. I believe the state champs in 8th grade this past yr were a Male feeder school. Does anyone known if they'll attend Male together?
  16. The KOB usually features a top player state-wise on each participating team. So for Collins Knight is the feature guy? And the KOB is big time ball, is Spencer Co. and Conley ready for that kind of exposure? Didn't realize WV will be that tall. That may be enough to win the 8th because nobody in the region that I can think of will be able to handle that kind of size.
  17. Should be an interesting off-season. @Cardsrule1972 I believe you are right about the top 3. Gallatin returning Coomer and how those kids develop from yr to yr. They should considered a real threat in the 8th. I didn't get a chance to see Spencer this yr but I hear alot of good things about their young talent, especially Conley. I can't wait to see them next season. Simon Kenton returns what I consider to be the top offensive talent in the region in Niece. He may put up 25-26 ppg next yr as a soph. Looks like they have some good returning kids too. I don't see one team being significantly better than anyone else at this point. I would like to add don't sleep on South Oldham. They always seem to be in the mix and they had a couple underclassmen start.
  18. @camelman I know it's hard to think about now but it sounds like CC will be really tough next yr. I'll deff make it a point to check them out
  19. Things setting up nicely for a repeat of the 2014 championship game between Scott Co. and Cov. Cath
  20. Was wanting to see the Camels this yr. Never got a chance to, they seem to have a good program yr in and yr out. They returning some guys next yr?
