  1. It's my favorite time of year but as most of us can relate to, there's too many games and not enough time to see them all. I am trying to decide between 4 district games on Thursday night and I need your help. I am looking for a great atmosphere, good teams and players, and a close game. Game 1. Newport v Highlands. I really like this game and am leaning slightly towards this one. I feel like Highlands had their scare last night and the game in December between these two was a good one. Sisson v Harding is a man's matchup inside. Game 2. Simon Kenton v Walton Verona. I have not yet seen SK this year and although I will see them at the Roy next week, I feel like this could be a good one. Niece and Miles make this game special. Game 3. Scott v Campbell Co. I hear Scott is playing really well right now and I have not seen either team this season. I won't get go see them at the region because Mason Co. is too far. Jolly may be worth the trip to this game. Game 4. Beechwood v Covington Catholic. I have not seen the Draud kid and I missed the last meeting between these two because it was sold out. I have a hard time believing Beechwood beats Cov Cath twice in a row so I'm not sure how good this game will be. It's a can't lose because they're all good game games but I'm looking for that one great game. Friday night is reserved for the district final at Spencer County.
  2. I repeat. Stop the game! In all seriousness I feel like Cov Cath has become the favorite in the 9th and an upset would open things up significantly
  3. Henry up now 46-31. Hardin is too much for CC. A young poor man's Carson Williams. And that's a big time compliment.
  4. Henry up 32-27 at half. The Hardin kid is a nice player. Especially for a soph. 14 pts.
  5. 3 out of 5 kids for Gallatin are underclassmen and Coach Jones will be back on the sideline so they'll be around next year. I believe their jr. Rassmin was the leading scorer for GC. And Owen is all underclassmen except for their one tall kid. IMO their 8th grader is the top player. I liked his confidence and how he handled himself. Good future for both OC and GC. Gallatin just too strong this year.
  6. 42-32 Gallatin up at half. The press began to really bother OC. Hard to break a press when your main ball handler is an 8th grader. First time I've ever seen OC with Carson William's, kind of strange.
  7. 31-27 Gallatin up with 3:26 left in the first half. Impressed with the baby Rebs
  8. 22-16 Gallatin. Owen putting up a nice fight for such a young team so far.
  9. I teach across the border so it won't be super early. Cardsrule1972 you run that town don't you? Save me a spot. I've been looking for a game with a good crowd and loud atmosphere.
  10. I am planning on making the trip to Spencer County for the first time ever on Friday night for the finals. Can I expect to get in or have trouble getting a ticket?
  11. Wow. I considered going to this game but decided to go to a local game here in Indiana. I had a feeling about Highlands in this game. I still remember what I saw in December against Newport. The Birds are a good team and have some talent. Another reason why I'm looking forward to the districts and 9th region.
  12. Gallatin up 65-28 going into the 4th. Starters coming out for GC. Live by the three, die by the three. Tonight they thrived. Gallatin is getting hot at the right time as usual. This year they seem to be playing extra confident.
  13. Deja Vu game because these 2 teams played less than a week ago. Gallatin up early 19-4. Bowen for GC has 15
  14. Watching Ballard and 8th grader Kaleb Glenn against Male on Friday got me thinking who are some other kids in the 2023 class that are getting significant varsity minutes and putting up some numbers? The other two I have heard are the Porter kid at Elliott Co. and Dallas Robert's of North Oldham.
  15. Rassman messed around and got another triple double. Coomer is one of the better shooters I've seen in a few years, Indiana and Kentucky. When he's on GC is hard to beat. Bowen dropping 20 plus points is a wild card for them. That's an added bonus.
  16. This game had a little bit if everything. A packed house, 2 teams that go at each other and are threats to win the 7th, a close game and even a scuffle in the crowd that police came over to break up before it got too out of hand. As good as the game was tonight it will be even better next year and beyond. Ballard starts 3 nice juniors and their 6th man is a 6'5 8th grader. Hard to imagine he won't be a top 50 national kid by his senior year. A couple Male bigs went right at him and scored on him a couple times but he made some nice moves. The 7th region in 2020 will be a real battle between these 2.
  17. Their game against SK last year was a great game. Niece dropped 35-38 but Gallatin did was Gallatin does. I would love to see them make a run at the Roy this year.
