Seems like the top dogs are losing a lot. Cov Cath usually reloads instead of rebuilds tho. Newport the only team I can think of that return everyone but 1 starter. Would love to see Holmes hire the right guy and get back to their winning ways. The region seems better and more fun when they're good.

Who are Gallatin's underclassmen? I know Justin Rassman and the Hale kid and maybe their pg are seniors. Is that it?

Great game, venue, and atmosphere. GC fans were very well represented. Can I just say I really enjoy watching GC teams. Jones gets the most out of his teams yr in and yr out. A small school like GC in a factory town isn't overflowing with athletes but man do they get the most out of their teams. Poised, don't panic, play hard and hustle, aggressive, and they made their free throws down the stretch. I always find myself pulling for them no matter how neutral I am. They've got some underclassmen that can really play and shoot and with the development GC kids have from yr to yr, watch out. Could be special next yr too. And what can u say about the freshman, Niece from SK. Awesome game and will be a must-see player for the next 3 yrs. @ this point of the season there are no more freshman so I feel like 30+ pt games will become the norm for him. Would love to see a coaching finals matchup between AC and GC. I feel like it will be a OC- SO championship battle though. But I'll be pulling for the underdogs (or should I say Cats).

Don't sleep on Newport. Possibly playing on Monday night v. a Cov Cath/ Cooper team that may tired from beating on each other Saturday. If they play up-tempo and shots are falling, don't write in Cov Cath/ Cooper in permanent marker just yet.

My predictions GC v Henry Co. SK v AC OC v Collins WV v SO

Yep. SK could beat any of them. That's what's great about the 8th this yr. I feel like any one of 7 teams could possibly make it to Rupp.

AC! My 8th region pick has been upgraded from critical and moved out of ICU. Will be upgraded to stable condition with a draw of district runners up, Henry Co. Make room for me on the bandwagon!

Anyone know what days are the games?

Wow, what a game and an atmosphere to match. Game had to have been sold out and it was loud. Newport built up a 6-10 pt lead in the 2nd half but began playing not to lose in the 4th quarter. NCC slowly chipped away and hit 2 big there's with around a minute to go to tie the game. Both teams wanted this game and left it all out there. Hall hit 2 big free throws to send the game to OT but couldn't get to the basket that last drive. In most games and in Indiana it's called a foul but the refs were consistent with not calling much and letting the kids decide the game. Don't have a problem with it, I have no dog in the fight. Love games being decided by kids and not the whistle. Newport has a very good future with most everyone except Burries back. He can play but he's far from their only weapon. With Cov Cath's mass graduation class Newport may go into next yr as the region 9 favorites. But that's next yr. They could make a real run next week. Gotta give some love for Kentucky basketball. Good ppl, great atmosphere, and awesome game. Couldn't ask for much more.

I would like to know this also. Planning on either going here or to the Collins v Anderson Co. game. I haven't seen Berries or Hall play yet this yr.

AC survives and advances as they're famous for this time or yr. Another trip to the Roy awaits the 8th region POY, Cobe Penny. The young guns of Spencer will have to wait another yr but with their underclassmen should become regulars @ the Roy for the next few yrs. I can't wait to watch Conley next yr. His time is coming, Cobe's time is now. On another note my preseason pick for the 8th has been upgraded from life support to critical!

Thinking about going on Friday to the finals between NCC and Newport. Will there be any room or tix available? Sounds like it was a packed house tonight.

I love this. I'm sure Penny will be going @ full force on Wednesday. I will make the trip down there, first time seeing either team this yr and first time ever to Shelby Co. I'm admittedly getting a little nervous about my AC pick for the 8th region but until the final horn sounds, I'll stay on them. Sounds like its been a long yr for AC but a whole new season starts next week.

When's the last time a team other than Trinity or Ballard won the 7th and advanced to Rupp? I know it's been a while. Maybe that Barrett M.S. 8th grade state champ team will all go to Male next yr?

You are not mistaken. One of their starters. Sounds like a number of teams in the 8th are dealing with injuries. Or maybe just a precaution to recover before the big games in a few weeks.

Almost made the near 2 hour drive for this one. Kinda sorry I didn't but loving the updates! Maybe they'll be a rematch in 3-4 weeks.

Big night in the 8th tonight. Idk why the Gallatin Co. @ Trimble Co. was cancelled but not real happy about going over there to find an empty parking lot.
