  1. My apologies. I just meant to say the girls job was open and recently filled. In terms of winning the All A I still have to give Gallatin the nod because of what they return but Carroll could make a nice run as well. CC and Henry Co are neck and neck IMO right behind Gallatin. Anyone know where the All A for the 8th will be next year?
  2. The girls job was open and just filled. Maybe that's what they're thinking. Can't imagine the boys coach willingly leaving with CC having a good chance to make the region next year.
  3. That North Oldham, South Oldham, Oldham County, Trimble County district will be tough. Not exactly sure what OC has returning but they're always in the mix. Trimble needs to get out of that district and move in with Carroll, Gallatin, etc. Tough for a coach to have hope for winning there in that district. When is the last time they made the region? The small school district in my opinion is the most interesting and competitive. Gallatin will probably be the favorites but second is up for grabs. Owen Co., Carroll Co., and Henry Co. Eminence is the only team that is total rebuild mode.
  4. That is a deadly combo. PM is ranked as a top 10-15 in the nation in the 2022 class and Rayvon is top 10 in the 2023 class. If he does end up there count me in to see alot of Hughes games next year. Best Cincy combo since OJ Mayo and Bill Walker.
  5. Yes you are correct. My bad. He is a very nice guard. Owen also dressed a 6'5 seventh grader. Not sure he left the bench but you can't teach height and I don't see many 7th graders on a varsity roster.
  6. Figured I'd start this because I already miss basketball season and I want to look forward to next year. I will make some observations but please be sure to chime in throughout the offseason with any new 8th region news. I think next season is the year of the individual player. What I mean by that is there is alot of returning individual talent. In some rankings I've seen for the 2020 class the 8th region features 2 of the top 3. Powell who sat out a year for North Oldham and McKnight at Collins. The talent does stop there because I believe the top scorer in the 8th region returns for South Oldham. Luke Morrison will lead the Dragons who could be arguably be considered the region favorites. Spencer County with Sam Conley and their young core will look to return to the Roy and win an extra game or two. Getting there and winning a game this past season was huge for them. Kelly Niece should continue to put up big numbers next year. SK played alot of underclassmen this year and should make it out of their district again. And take a look at all the small school talent next year. Trevor Hardin at Henry County who I was very impressed with. He could be a sleeper for region POY. Reece Webster at Trimble County who I believe is on pace to break TC scoring records. Wyatt Supplee who is a bucket getter for a Carroll County team that will be improved. Rassman at Gallatin County along with a couple of other returning starters should keep Gallatin the favorites on their district. Owen County was also very young and their 8th grader, I believe his last name is Teague really impressed me. They are maybe a year or 2 away from being back at the Roy. Speaking of 8th graders North Oldham has one of the top kids in the 2023 class. I'm sure I forgot some kids but those are just the ones I've seen off the top of my head. My top 5 teams I would say: 1. Collins 2. South Oldham 3. Spencer County 4. North Oldham 5. Gallatin County Walton had a banner year for the 8th last year, just not sure what they have returning. I know they lose Miles a d Pardee. That's alot of height and skill gone. North Oldham could blow the competition away but until I've seen how good Powell is and fits in, I can't put them ahead of who's already been there. Oldham county always seems to be there but if I remember correct they lost quite a bit from last year. The favorites have to begin and end with McKnight and Vail at Collins.
  7. That is his name and he played with Lebron Jr. in aau ball. Heard he was the best player on that summer team but I'm not sold on it being a done deal he's crossing the river. He is really close to his teammates at a small school in Cincy and has played with them since 1st-2nd grade.
  8. I forgot all about the Powell kid. Probably the top player in his class. Him along with the 8th graders that will be freshmen will be tough to stop in the 8th and may make a nice run.
  9. I'm all about way too early predictions. Nothing will be established or for certain but that's the fun of it. To have the hope of looking forward to a new year, with new teams, and new contenders. I admittedly don't know as much as most on here being from the other side of the Ohio River but I know a few teams will bring back and bring in some real talent. It's got to start and end with Male. A team that beat the state champs, Trinity at full strength this year and return most everyone next year. Not sure if the Edelin boy will stay there and come in as a freshman next year but you add him and you have a top 3 or 5 kid in the 2023. Would have to believe Ballard comes in as a top 5 team as well. The Bruins are always there anyways but with their big guns returning they will be a contender. Fern Creek brings back a real good group of 2021 kids that could start making noise next year. In the 9th it would be hard to pick against Beechwood who finished 2nd this year and return 2021 all state candidate Draud. Probably a solid preseason top 10 team. GRC will have a strong team in the 10th next year. Collins returns their backcourt and could come into the year a top 10 team. I expect South Oldham to be a top 15 team all year with Luke Morrison returning. I admittedly know much more about the top part of the state than anywhere else so Maybe I'm missing quite a few teams.
  10. Good to hear. And Jones will be sure to get the best out of them. Rassmin is the real deal. Dickerson and McAllister will be really good with another offseason of work too. Alot of good small school talent in that area next yr. Reece Webster, Wyatt Supplee, Trevor Hardin, Teegan Moore and Jarin Rassmin.
  11. Awesome run by the Cats this year. Love watching Jones teams play. They get better and better throughout the year and really develop their players. They'll miss Coomer and Bowen, as will I but the success should continue into next year. 3 underclassmen in the starting lineup returning. The Cats will be back. But I sure did like watching Coomer and Bowen play.
  12. Yes. And because Newport has 3 kids that are as talented as anyone Cov Cath has. Thelen and Mayer could be considered. Newport doesn't have experience or Coach Ruthsatz. Could be the difference. But just basketball, Newport can play with them and win.
  13. This story already played out on Monday. Give me a Gallatin- WV final on Saturday night. Oldham won't be as hot from behind the arc as the other night. Gallatin will. Gallatin by 5. Coomer puts it away at the free throw line late.
  14. I hope Newport watched that video too. That'll get them nice and pumped up to beat the private school defending champs.
  15. Not surprised. Ballard is a different animal when it comes tourney time. Wouldn't be surprised to see them represent the 7th at Rupp. They've got a good group of underclassmen too.
  16. Death, taxes, and a Ballard v Trinity 7th region final seem to be certainties. I expect it again this year. Have to wait until next year for a changing of the guard. Male could be preseason number 1 statewide going into the 2019-2020 season.
  17. Looks like a close game. I hope @CardsRule1972 is having a great time enjoying this W. He's been defending and sticking with his team for a long time win or lose. I'd like to see them and Gallatin on Saturday night.
  18. Down 2 going into the 4th quarter Coomer would not let his career end tonight. He started being assertive and knew he'd get to the line where he's money. Rassmin had 16 but I felt like he was "off" offensively. He played a really nice floor game. Bowen is one of those guys every close, hard working, gritty team has. Not always pretty but gives everything he's got, which lately has been 20 plus points. From what I understand SK played some young kids tonight and are maybe building towards the future with Niece as a soph. He's a nice player, hard for him to have to score 30 every night just to have a shot. I'm beginning to sense an All A Gallatin v Walton 8th region final. But those two Oldham schools always seem to find a way, at least one of them. Make room for me on the Gallatin bandwagon on the way to Rupp!
  19. That was Valpo Bryce Drew-like. I don't know if it was drawn up that way but #34 for OC tipped it out to a wide open three point shooter and bang. Season over for Collins. I will say it was a long 2.1 to have time to tip it and a guy go catch it, set and shoot. Buy I video tapped it and replayed it. The shot was just barely good and got off in time, if anyone was questioning. Wow.
  20. Collins get a shot with 2 seconds left from the most unexpected guy on the court. And then it happened. 2.1 seconds on the clock full court pass. Tipped to a wide open 3 point shot. Oldham wins 51-50. Wow
  21. Collins takes the lead for the first time in a while out of nowhere. 46-45 with 3 minutes left.
  22. #31 for OC is having the game of his life behind the arc. I believe hes just a soph. Collins gets it close and he hits a big 3 everytime.
