Beechwood 55 Pendleton County 49
Indiana Patrick replied to Red Tiger 17's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
The technical foul(s) did pretty much end the game. P.C. was on a run and was down by 1 when the 1st T was called. 2 free throws and the ball, after a P.C. foul, the same ref calls another T which gave Beechwood 4 shots and the ball. I wish the ref would have let the players decide the game. That's just my unbiased opinion. Beechwood has a nice little team, they won't get to Rupp but they might possibly make it to NKU for the region. And my thoughts on Allen were he's obviously the most talented kid on P.C. (and on the floor last night), but he was passive and didn't take over the game like I expect a top 5 or 6 soph (in the state) to do. I'm sure the P.C. community loves watching him but I could deff see him @ a prep school or going to another team where he gets some help during a game and some others to make him better in practice. I'll give Allen and P.C. another shot vs Collins next week @ Henry County -
Pendleton County at Beechwood updates

Allen should take over this game. He might have 12 or so @ half. Thr game might come down to the wire. Pretty even from what I can tell. -

What are your thoughts on the Beechwood game? I have never seen Allen play and am thinking about getting some Skyline and checking him out. -

Covington Catholic 90 Williamstown 34
Indiana Patrick replied to SnottieDrippen's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I didn't think Williamstown was a bad team, it's just that Cov Cath is top 5 in the state and on another level than the Demons. I would venture to say depending on their schedule Williamstown will probably finish around .500, maybe better if they can find a way to get the Fox kid involved. Their pg was very quick, but probably only 5'8. Cov Cath moves the ball very well and any one of 5 guys will beat u on a given night. All 5 could average between 10-16 ppg. I like their team and can't wait to see them play some good teams @ the KOB -

I think WKU would be a perfect fit for him, especially with that nice class they have coming in next year. They've got a 10, 2017 kid and another top 50-60, I believe. Being from Indiana I will make a comparison between Hollingsworth and a kid I saw play numerous times about 10 years ago from up here. Games are similar, quickness and crossovers are similar, getting to the rim are similar, just not quite as athletic with the explosive bounce this kid had. Him and Jeff Teague. Swear they remind me of each other @ the same age. good luck to wherever he chooses. Can't wait to check him and many others out @ the K.O.B. next month.

Question from an outaide observer....why didn't he just go to Trinity or St. X? Seems to me he'd be eligible there @ a private school and have a good education to go with it. I just have been wanting to see him play and feel like being @ home in Louisville would have been good for him....but maybe goin to Fla. is better
-
Then Ballard lost some $. Too bad for them and not Khsaa I guess. Of course I dont just want a free for all in terms of transfers but wasn't this kid originally from Louisville. Isn't he returning to where he came from? If thats the case then I would deff be cool with that transfer. Seems like Kentucky is usually very relaxed when it comes to transfers, just dont get why this one particular one was denied.

Khsaa just lost out on some $ from me this yr. I was counting on going to some Ballard games to watch Sloan, Wilson, and Patterson. A kid wants to go back home and he's not allowed to play??? Wow, good move Khsaa. Hope he kills it down in Fla.

Bolus Rankings????
Indiana Patrick replied to Indiana Patrick's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Thats what I thought. NCC should have some nice young players Lawnboy, Hall was the real deal last March -
So Im online checking out some rankings for the upcoming season and I see Rick Bolus has state rankings of players Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky. I have a couple of questions about some of these Kentucky rankings...... For one, who is this Evan McMahan kid from Carroll County? Hes listed as the "top sleeper" ranked ahead of guys like Wilson from Ballard, and top 10-12 overall senior. I've heard of sleepers but this is a "coma" because I've never heard of him. Ethan Haynes from Florence Boone County as the top jr. overall??? Who? And no mention of this freshman thats going to NCC or Beechwood (or golden state warriors, who knows) thats all over this site. Someone enlighten me on these guys or is it just kids that went to his camp, paid their $, and had a nice couple of games?

I really didnt mean that @ all. I was just naming my state since I asked you all to name yours. Thought it would be fair. No disrespect to kentucky @ all. I only named so many bcos I have more info about Indiana, my bad if it came across that way. I enjoy kentucky h.s. basketball just as much and u would be fair to mention the state tournament in Indiana sucks compared to Kentucky's.

Your school's Mount Rushmore
Indiana Patrick replied to Lawnboy13's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Hard to imagine too many better than Weyer was for them this yr. Took them to the final 4 and just about the most impressive player @ the sweet 16. Pretty sure u know NCC better than any of us tho. Im too young to remember any of the guys u mentioned. -
With all the Lebron or MJ talk lately I would like to know who would be on the mt. Rushmore of kentucky h.s. basketball? Or a first team all time. Doesnt have to go by position or u could do it that way, just give me your top 4-5 names. I am in no way old enough to remember most of the all time greats but I can start out with 4-5 guys just to get the list going. King Kelly Coleman (idk how he would hold up against todays guys but hes one of the faces of kentucky h.s. bball) Darrell Griffith (heard alot of stories about this guy. If half of them are true I would have loved to seen him play in h.s.) Wes Unseld, Allan Houston, Richie Farmer, Rex Chapman are some other names. Coleman, Unseld, Griffith top 3 and add 1 or 2 of the others for all time h.s. basketball players in Kentucky. Since Im an Indiana guy and know more about Indiana, I'll give u an all time team for us; Center, Greg Oden. PF, Glenn Robinson. SF, Oscar Robertson. SG, Rick Mount. PG, Damon Bailey. Larry Bird, Steve Alford, Scott Skiles, Shawn Kemp and Eric Gordon off the bench. Feel free to add your own guys and what you think.

2016 Forcht Bank King of the Bluegrass
Indiana Patrick replied to Jason Frakes's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I know, its clearly the IHSAA's fault. I would normally defend Indiana basketball to the death but in this rule and when it comes to the post season tournament (Indiana having 4 seperate state champs vs Kentucky's sweet 16), kentucky has it better. Ya, theres been a few teams I would have liked to see in the KOB over the years, maybe 1 or 2 each yr. New Albany would have been a perfect choice this yr. If you are within an hour or so of New Albany I would recommend coming to watch this Romeo kid, UK, Kansas, Duke, Louisville, UCLA, IU, LSU have all offered. One of the best I've seen. The state of Indiana has 4 seniors in the top 40 nationally, would have been great choices of a tourney like the KOB, too bad. I cant wait to see this Lovan kid play now, will probably be my only chance to watch him. Couldnt ask for better teams or talent in Kentucky than this lineup. -

There could be alot of nice matchups. I think Hollingsworth vs Sloan are most likey the 2 top college prospects in the '17 class in Kentucky. Louisville vs Lexington sorta thing. A potential matchup of Cov Cath vs Trinity would be interesting. -

I really wish Indiana would allow schools to play in a tournament like this. They are not allowed to play schools more than a certain distince from the Indiana border. The rule makes no sense and as far as I can tell, useless. Woulda loved to see Indiana state champ New Albany (which is right across the river from Louisville) play in this. Looks like the best individual talent and top teams from Kentucky will be in this tournament. im not so sure its an "up year" talent wise in the state but potential matchups like Hollingsworth vs Sloan, or Jackson (NH) vs Taylor (BG) would be a must see. I would like see Fern Creek come together this yr with all their individual potential. And Cov Cath is possibly pre season #1 in Kentucky. -
