  1. As a Hoosier nothing does compare to the sweet 16, 1 champion format Kentucky has. I no problem admitting the truth and most Hoosiers would say the same. We would love to have the 1 champ like we used to before the 4 class system in '98. I agree with ESPNduex that usually there are better Indiana teams and individuals but that is because of population and most of them come out of Indianapolis which is much bigger than Louisville. This doesnt take away or diminish anything for me. Back in the single class system there would be a morning-night game for regionals, semi state, and state finals. It was a gauntlet to win a title back then. Now its only the regionals that are Sat morning and night

  3. I saw the AC coach yell over to the SO coach around the 6- 5:30 min mark and wave the white towel as to say, "stop, we're done, u can stop scoring now!" I'd never seen this before either. Kinda funny, no offense to the AC kids
  4. If it interests any of you, Louisville has offered already and UK coaches have come to watch his practices
  5. I bet that game was nice. Damon would usually sell out every game his senior yr, including over 40,000 @ the state finals in Indy. Anyone like that recently come outta Kentucky? I can only think, maybe Richie Farmer but that was a while back This kid Romeo is equally as good and is a future pro. 6'5 smooth athlete
  6. So Im beginning to fully understand the kentucky tournament. I've got into Kentucky h.s. hoops (as well as my home state of Indiana) especially this yr. Alot of my Indiana ppl say we have the best h.s. bball and kentucky ppl will say their hoops ia the best. Im not here to argue or compare. I've really enjoyed the games and especially the tournament format in kentucky. One state champ is truly a champion instead of dividing schools in "classes" based on enrollment. The region tournaments with teams from all over the immediate area with a trip to the final 16 is awesome. It really gives everyone (in most cases if they get out of districts) a good shot. Every area of the state is also represented @ Rupp. Sometimes in Indiana we have 2 or 3 champs from Indianapolis. I wish Indiana would go back to one class but thats never gonna happen and I can see the good and bad with both. As a Hoosier Im inviting anyone that can make it up to Seymour, Indiana (about 45 min north of louisville on I-65N) on Saturday morning (and night) for the regionals there to see some VERY good basketball. My #1 New Albany Bulldogs are playing @ 10 and if they win, will be in the finals @ 7:30. The gym will be packed with 7,000-8,000 screaming fans. The Bulldogs played in Frankfort in January and beat Lex Dunbar. Romeo Langford is one of the top sophs in the country and is the best player i've seen in a long time. As a bball fan Im hoping some of my Bluegrass brothers make the trip up to Seymour Saturday for what should be an absolutely crazy experience and you'll get to see Indiana basketball, as good as it gets
  7. Ya, I picked the blowout game. But I had no real rooting interest so it was all good. I bet I saw the most dominating team performance. Largest margin of victory in an 8th region tourney since 1933, so thats something....I guess
  8. The way SO played tonight they have a shot @ winning more than a game next week. They go 8-9 deep and all can shoot, cut, drive, pass. Are they all seniors or what grades are they in? If they return guys they will be real dangerous again next year. As an OC fan this yr much respect to SO. They WON that region
  9. Tough break for St. X. Must be the curse of Scott Padget. Dont think they've won the 7th since he left. How is Trinity better without Spalding? Hes was a top 100 player in the country and he leaves, and they're a better team, whats up with that?
  10. South is beating them down. 19 pt SO lead with 2 min left in half. Anderson cant figure out the zone
  11. I just got to Henry County. Hope its a close game with a good atmosphere. Havent seen AC yet this yr. Never been to or heard of Augusta before this season but Im hoping I can see them next week @ Rupp. It would be a great story. I got my catholic school-fix last nite with Cov Cath and NCC so no Trinity vs St X. And no Taylor County and Goodin bcos I expect to see them next week. Everyone enjoy the games tonight wherever ur @!
  12. My heart says yes but google maps say NO. Montgomery county is 2 hours away but the SO- AC game is within 30 min.
  13. Thanx for all your input (and the 'old mcpapa' jokes). I dont think I wanna make that drive to the 10th although the game will be very good. I will be following updates and rooting for the small school. I am pretty confident that Taylor County will come out a winner bcos I'd like to watch Goodin again @ Rupp next week. It sounds like they're on a nice run lately. That leaves the 7th or 8th. I really dont care for watching games @ Valley. I dont think the atmosphere is that great for a bball game, even a region final. It sounds like the 8th region final will be a competitive game. Will it be a full house and loud crowd? Im leaning towards the SO-AC game. I know SO is good but havent seen A.C. yet. Sounds like they will have a nice team for the next few years. Plus its only 35 min away which is a hige plus. Ever game should be very competitive
  14. I feel good about going to watch newport central catholic win the 9th last night and want a game with good players, good atmosphere, and a classic game tonight. Which one of these do u think will be the best; 5th Taylor County vs Bardstown 7th Trinity vs St X 8th South Oldham vs Anderson County 10th Augusta vs Mason County I want to see this Augusta team everyone is talking about. I love the small town story but Montgomery county is so far away I dont want to make that drive. Its a good 2 hours. Help a brother out.
  15. Awesome game if u had no real rooting interest. I was pulling slightly for NCC bcos of the teams they've had recently and not winning the region. Cov Cath had two really nice years and I expect them to have more bcos they're a young team, quite possibly a pre-season #1 come November. Nick Ruthsatz was darn good but Aiden has a chance of surpassing him by his senior year. I really liked his game for a soph. Speaking of sophs Brennan Hall was the best soph on the floor. Really liked how he controlled the game and he calmed NCC down when it looked like they might lose the lead. Weyer was an absolute monster last night. He is deff deserving of the accolades ive heard from all the northern kentucky folks. If Carson and Quentin are 1a then Weyer is 1b. Ive each one of them play and Weyer is on that level, at least last night. And that was playing against a top 3 team, I can only imagine how dominant he could be vs "lesser" competition. He'll be an all timer for Bellarmine. Good luck to NCC, I'll deff making the trip to Rupp to watch them.
  16. Going to watch the Catholic Clash @ the Bank, NCC and CC. Both games were evenly good for me and going to eat @ Skyline was the tiebreaker Someone keep us all updated on the Doss/ BE game.
  17. Now that my Rebels from OC are out I dont have a dog in the fight. I'll be able to relax and take in the games without a rooting interest.
  18. http://gifstumblr.com/images/weekend-is-here_548.gif How I feel this time of year.....
  19. I prefer a close game. Its about 15-20 min longer to Valley so distance isnt a problem. I do miss the regions being @ Bellarmine. It got full but it was an easy drive. I like Sharpe's game for BE and is fun to watch. I havent got to see Doss. Sounds like BE was the favorite all season until just recently. The 9th region does have an awesome atmosphere for region finals. Cant beat the huge fire explosions as both teams run onto the court. Saw Weyer and CVH last yr but have yet to check them out this yr. I've been wanting to but I had other teams I rolled with this yr. Im sure Doss and Bullitt East will be a fun game but NCC/ Cov cath game could be a classic.
  20. I'm leaning towards going to NKU to watch Cov Cath vs NCC but I hate to miss out out on Doss vs Bullitt East. What do you all think?
  21. I was hoping for this matchup. I was either going to see region 6 final or region 9 and I think this will be the one to see. Weyer is poy in the region vs the top overall team. Sounds like both of these teams will be up for a while and have a nice future. Cov Cath is especially young. Give me Cov Cath by 7 and Weyer drops 23, CVH with 19
  22. I was in Indy the night before and watched future Virginia Cavalier, Kyle Guy and future Florida State Seminole, CJ Walker, probably the top 2 seniors in Indiana go head to head and its my evaluation/ opinion in 2 years or less he would be capable of playing on that level with work on his jumper. Im no rookie. NKU got a steal.
  23. I agree and loved watching this team. Covering both Indiana (from Indy on south) and Kentucky bball (area from louisville to covington area) this team was one of my all time favorites. Good ppl around owenton and that community. From what I know the kids are good kids and excellent students. I hate that they lost when Rupp was a very realistic goal but they'll all be fine and always remember this season as one of the most fun times in their lives. They would be a decent team without Carson but he gave the team that 'it' factor that made them fun. As for my assessment of the game, calls came and went both ways. Some good, some bad like all h.s. games. It was a combination of good defense and being tentative. OC played their hearts out but after watching a dozen or so of their games this year, something was off. They seemed worried to not make a mistake. I did seem like they "held" Carson to 38 bcos there was never a rhythm in their offense. McDonald and Toftness were never able to get comfortable 3 point shots. credit to SO bcos their perimeter defense was nice. They use alot of screens and backcuts on offense that created some mismatches. Williams had to really work for those 38. What a good steal for NKU. To me it sems he would be a starter by his junior yr. @ a Notre dame-type school.
