So Ryle loses to Cooper, plays a weaker schedule, and they are ranked higher?

You appear to mistakenly assume I think that Cooper or Conner's road to a state game to be easier in 6A. That is not the case, I would have loved to see them stay down and compete for a 5A title. My only point is that it appeared to me that both programs were beat up for making a decision to move up and play at a higher level. That all of a sudden they were going to have losing season after losing season. That is not the case and both team not only held their own,, they had winning seasons. I think the boys of each team have done a great job and I applaud their efforts this year. As long as the Trinity's, Male's, St. X's of the state do not have to play with a group of boys that are in a district it will be hard to beat them. However, Scott County had a special group of kids come through and was able to do so. Who knows that can happen Cooper or Conner.

Not sure how you can say Cooper ran away from a team they scheduled to play the first game of the season. Irregardless of what our opinions may be, I think both programs have shown they can compete at the 6A level.

I am not sure how many counties have open enrollment but I know that Boone County in NKY has closed enrollment.

I will agree that schemes and coaching come into play, but I think that carries more when all other things are equal. Take for instance by all accounts, Highlands has had a down year,, but their scheme and system did not change,, just the players they have do not have the talent of past teams. In regards to Lexington having talent, I agree there is a huge talent pool in the area. However, are those kids playing football or are they being lost to other sports. I do not think anything is done in a vacuum and I am not taking anything away from offensive and defensive schemes and coaching. However, I think the biggest impact to any programs success are the players on the field.

The part that particularly bothers me on this subject line is that there is an assumption that both programs did something to purposely take something away from the kids. I don't see any coach or administration doing that. It takes a special group of kids to make it to the State Finals, it just does not happen every year in most cases. Just look at Dixie or Highlands this year. Both programs have had successful seasons this year lets focus on that.

Its a little different in high school since you are in most cases dealing with the talent pool of that school. It really does not matter what type of X's and O's you have if you do not have the Jimmy and Joe's to execute. Unless you are in a situation in high school where you can take advantage of open enrollment you are stuck with that schools population. Its talent that wins games.

How many yards did he have the other night? Its good that Cooper has a good running game to fall back on. Conner really shut down the passing game of Cooper. Does anyone know the rushing and passing stats from Saturday?

Scott is big,, but I think they are out matched in this one. I think their offense is too limited to make this one a game. Scott's line will not be bigger than SK's and will not be able to impose their will on the LOS. I also think Scott's Line will tire going both ways as they did against Cooper last year. I guess now is the time the thread that says Cooper and Conner cannot play and be competitive on the 6A level needs to be revised. I watched this game on TV and both teams played well in bad conditions. I congratulate both teams on a great season.

I disagree,, I do not think Ryle's line is good enough to pound the ball at anyone. I think if you want to take advantage of England's size,, put him in the slot. That puts him against a safety sitting back about 10 yards. That will give him time to get moving. In their current offense, defenses are on him before he can get going. That is what Cooper did to him and I expect more of the same since SK is bigger than Cooper.

It is just disrespect to the program over at Cooper. Cooper has played a harder schedule, beat Ryle,, and Ryle is still the better team? I don't get that one at all.

I just think they are finally facing tougher competition and are getting exposed from playing a weak schedule. I also think Conner is a lot better than people are giving them credit.

What were England's stats on the night?

If Conner's front line can get to Morgan and not let him set his feet and throw,, they should have a chance to win tonight. I think Ryle comes in with a bit of a chip on their shoulder because of last weeks loss. I am not sure how Conner has been against the run,, but Cooper gave everyone a blueprint on how to beat Ryle.

All that could mean is that one team left their starters in longer than the other. For instance, if you look at the Simon Kenton vs Boone County game, you would think there is a problem with the Pioneers because they only scored 37 points against a win less Rebel team. They did not leave their starters in to run up the score against an outmatched football team. They pulled all of their starters by the end of the 1st quarter. By your stated logic,, they should be looked at as a lesser team because they did not hang 50+ points on them like Ryle did.

Conner's QB is pretty good,, I think they keep it close. However, I think Ryle may come in with a chip on their shoulder from the Cooper loss. I pick Ryle by 2 touchdowns

Thanks for your input and information, but I just do not see how you can be ranked higher than a team that just beat you. I was at the Cooper/Ryle game and it was not as close as the score may indicate. Had Cooper continued to play their normal defense and not the prevent style they played at the end of the game, that last score by Ryle does not happen. As far as strength of schedule,, on another thread I saw where Cooper's schedule was ranked 17th to Ryle's rank was 30th,,, I am sorry I cannot quote the source so I am not sure how that applies. Yet,, the deciding factor for me is that you should not be ranked higher than a team that just beat you. Just my opinion though.

This ranking does not have any credibility with me. Ryle has wins against 3 winless teams and got beat by Cooper,, yet they are still ranked higher than Cooper? Not sure how that can even happen.

Cooper should continue their winning ways this week. I do not think Boone has enough talent to stay with Cooper for long.

Not sure how Ryle stays in the top 10,, I think Bryan Station has played a tougher schedule and has a win over a team that just beat Ryle.
