Bowling Green won both in 2017 I believe

Illinois is having issues with attendance to their state tournaments as well. There was an article about it in the Southern Illinoisan today.

There are a lot of guys that deserve to be mentioned here and I know he isn't considered one of the better players to ever come out of the second region but if we're just going by high school career then Jaqualis Matlock could be mentioned. He had a huge impact at Hopkinsville for 4 or 5 years and is their all time leading scorer and rebounder if I'm not mistaken and he led them to 4 straight region championships

I thought about putting Ty Rogers name in this thread. I only got to see him play a couple times and I was pretty young when I did. He graduated in 2004 so I was in third grade when he graduated

Does anybody have any info on the team from Illinois that's scheduled to play Trinity? I would assume they're a top notch program if they're coming to Louisville to play Trinity

Gregg Buckner and Scotty Hopson should also be mentioned. I think as of right now KyKy has the potential to be as good as any of them though

I was really hoping to see Trevon Faulkner at Rupp again. But congrats to Southwestern, after Fitzgerald and Butt transferred a couple years ago I didn't expect them to be a contender for awhile.

This is incredibly disappointing. I really wonder what has been going on internally at Tilghman, this team fell apart the last month or so of the season.

I still think Tilghman is the most talented team in the region and one of the most talented teams west of Louisville but they've played really poorly lately

I know he's not on as good of a team as most the players mentioned above but Detorrion Ware from Christian County should get some consideration.

If Hopkinsville is hitting shots and playing as a team they are a dangerous team

I believe Hopkinsville had a long win streak at home against region 2 opponents that stretched 2 or 3 years that Henderson County ended in the 2015 season.

I think Graves goes into Mayfield and gets the win. 3-5 point margin.

My list isn't very impressive, but I'll give it anyway. Paducah Tilghman Caldwell County Hopkinsville/Christian County Carbondale IL Murphysboro IL Carterville IL My favorite is probably Tilghman or Caldwell.

According to the Courier Journal's website Trinity defensive end Arak McDuffie has committed to Marshall University. It seems to me like Marshall is recruiting this class in Kentucky really well. I believe they already have a few offensive linemen committed from the 2018 class in Kentucky.

Dimikeon Mathis impressed me when I watch the Paducah Tilghman/Christian County game at County. He's a freshman right?

Disappointing for Tilghman but considering the strength of the region this year I think it will be unlikely for whoever wins the region not to have at least 1 region loss, maybe 2 or 3

When I saw Graves play a few weeks ago I was impressed and they were fun to watch. I think either Graves or Tilghman will win the region but Mayfield and McCracken are both really tough and Marshall is a solid team as well.

John Hardin is still my pick to win the fifth but it's a lot more competitive than I expected.

I don't know what to attribute this to either. Graves has a really good team and it seems as if some games Tilghman just doesn't want to play hard. Region one is pretty tough this year and fairly deep
