How many finalist are there.

I believe there are five finalists.

The Courier-Journal’s Jason Frakes revealed his nominees a few weeks ago.

Trevon Faulkner, Mercer County

C.J. Fredrick, Covington Catholic

Adam Kunkel, Cooper

Jay Scrubb, Trinity

Anthony Wales, Fern Creek

I believe there will be 5 finalists selected...my prediction in alphabetical order:

Trevon Faulkner--Mercer County

Steven Fitzgerald--Pulaski County

CJ Frederick--Covington Catholic

Cooper Robb--Scott County

Andrew Taylor--Corbin

High Honorable Mention

Adam Kunkel--Cooper

Mickey Pearson--John Hardin

Carter Hendricksen--LCA

Markelle Turner--Knox Central

Hunter Stevens--Southwestern

Jay Scrubb--Trinity

Eric Boss Boone--Bryan Station

Anthony Wales--Fern Creek

I know he's not on as good of a team as most the players mentioned above but Detorrion Ware from Christian County should get some consideration.

My vote would go to Faulkner.

I will be SHOCKED if Taylor is a finalist when they are named.

The 18 (i think) finalists were named. Taylor is one of the 18 -- with that many named, obviously not a surprise he is included from his region as a Co-Player of the Year.

Cobe Penny in the 8th is a joke. There are 5 players having a better yr. I’d go with Fort from Collins!

I believe they listed a finalist from each region, with at least one region (9th) having co-finalists.

Trevon Faulkner, Mercer County

C.J. Fredrick, Covington Catholic

I'd vote for one of these two.

What criteria would you be using if you had a vote?

I've been trying to get an answer as to this as well. Not to say that Trevon is not deserving of the award, but why is he and Frederick such runaways and what criteria was used to come to this determination.

Detorion Ware from Christian County has to be a finalist. He's been the best player west of I-65 by a WIDE margin.
