Wouldn't count CC out. They are getting things worked out and a lot of talent and depth. I'm still predicting CC wins the 10th in the end, despite their weak start to the season

I am not the best basketball talent evaluator out there. But it would be hard to imagine a kid like Hegyi or Wilson getting the time they do for any other reason than they've earned it. Campbell is losing games they shouldn't, which is why we're discussing all this. The difference between some of the guards sitting on the bench (or in the hallways) versus the ones getting more playing time is not a HUGE difference, if there even is a difference (which the coaches who have seen them play more than fans, or AAU coaches obviously think the ones on the court are better). So turning these losses into wins is about getting back to the basics, finding some passion/motivation and putting your elite players into positions to make things happen.

Twrnhoeffel 8th is a shadow of what they could be with at least three 8th girls playing up in the high school. Would be interested to know who the 8th girls are that play for Walton? Do they play AAU? Has Walton 8th beaten any other bigger schools this year? Do they have any losses?

I'm not sure this is a totally fair comment, especially without any specific reasoning behind it. What Campbell has on the actual team is more than talented enough to win games. Between Wilson, Hegyi and McGovney this team has the peices to be successful. This team needs to regroup, find some passion and play some great defense. The W's will start coming if they focus on their jobs.

Camels should win of course. Looking forward to seeing Kennedy Igo play again, haven't seen her since the summer. As long as the Camels do a good job with her and take care of the ball, they should win by 20.

Good to see Taylor (Jolly) taking strong leadership. Great player, really stepped up tonight. Lady Camels keep getting it done despite obstacles

I would absolutely agree that in most cases the previous years game would have very little weight. But in this particular case the two teams are essentially the same players. As far RCC9's comment I think I would slightly disagree. CC is 4-1, despite winning by a small margin, they did win. And I think that's pretty important in rankings. CC's loss (though a bigger margin) was to a higher ranked team than Ryles losses (smaller margins). I don't think that's enough to put Ryle ahead of CC. I would never say it's an easy pick, so I get the debate of it. But IMHO I think Ryle would need to beat CC or they need a common opponent or two for this year to change the order of the two teams.

I'm going to have to agree with CKC here about Campbell being ahead of Ryle for now. With last years win and only one loss to FC, that seems correct. Your better argument is that the NKY coaches have Ryle 3 spots ahead of Holy Cross and they have already beaten SK this year. And of course two close losses to top 12 teams. I appreciate whoever puts these rankings together so I don't mean to throw anyone under the bus, it can't be an easy thing to do this early in the season

This should be a great game. Likely high scoring like everyone seems to think, should be fun. But overall I think Ohmer and crew will be too much for HC. Brad Carr always brings the extra passion to get his boys the win, so I'm taking Scott by 10

Lady Camels are 4-1 and starting to get on a roll. Even with a poor shooting slump going on they are winners of four straight. As the season goes on they are going to get tougher and tougher. Gambrel is a good player for Conner, good senior leadership. Was impressed with Jordan and Hurst, younger players that made a big difference for Conner.

Glad to see the Lady Camels getting well deserved recognition! This is a super talented group of ladies, they are going to make some noise this year and will make Mason County's road back to the final four tough

I haven't seen Ryle this year yet. Saw Ryles 8th grader last year. How does she compare to Kennedy Igo, the 8th grader from Montgomery County? Do they play together in AAU? Have seen Igo play, she's a good player (especially in her district/on her team), entire offense seems to run through her already.

Campbell has been underperforming. This is a new week and I think the Camels will win. Wilson will be too tough for CovCath to stop. And Hegyi can play great D and will slow down CVH enough to give Campbell their first big win this year. And it's a home game for the Camels.

It's understandable to have Campbell number two after the way they've started, but it would be surprising if they're not eventually number one. CovCath is a tough game for anyone and could go either way but a solid win against Montgomery County should give them a boost. They need to run more offense thru Hegyi, he is a player.

That is too bad. I'm glad some girls get a chance to move up. But I do worry about the state of girls basketball involvement. Hope CC is doing a good job of development with those 8th girls.

I think Twrnhoeffel and Summit View have traditionally had good teams for this age too. Would still be interested in who/why Walton Verona is listed as a top 8th girls team in NKY?

Haven't heard WV 8th girls referenced as a top team that age before? Have they beaten any 8th girls teams like Turkeyfoot, Campbell, Highlands or St.Pius that have traditionally been the strong teams that age? who do they have that's good? Also, nothing on here about Campbell County 8th, they have had a top 8th girls team the last few years as 6th and 7th graders. (although one is playing up varsity, unsure on any others playing up). How are this years 6th and 7th Campbell girls teams doing too?

Camels are taking their time to come into form but they are moving in the right direction. A win is a win, girls fought hard tonight.

Franklin County was super impressive. Sometimes teams that rely on shooters can be off and it can bring a loss. As the season goes on I think there will be less and less games where that happens. IMO the Camels will still win the region. No one thought they would go undefeated. Franklin Co is a top ten team.

I don't really understand what's going on? Anyone who has played at SK knows they clearly have the visiting stands on the SK players side of the field. The visitor bleachers are half the size of the home fan bleachers. The SK band is set up on the home side. If this is illegal why does SK keep doing it? and why are they allowed to keep doing it? Does the KHSAA mock itself by turning aside? I truly don't understand what's going on. How do visiting coaches allow this to keep happening to them?

I believe Sean McNeil is the best player in NKY. But Cooper lost too much inside players to end the season #2 in the area. I think they will finish lower. CovCath has all the pieces to make a run at another state title and I think will finish #1 in NKY at the end of the year. Cooper loses tonight cause McNeil, Hendrix and Kunkel are shooters, not inside players. Cooper loses the rebound battle tonight and the score along with it.
