Wow! Sounds like a great game.

Ryle led by 2 at half, 21-19. By the time Raiders got their second wind in second half, it was too late. Ryle only hit three field goals from halftime until 3 minutes to go in game. Late free throws by Ryle made this a closer score at end. Holmes didn't shoot the ball well either.

That was an ugly game period! Ryle turnovers and Holmes struggled to finish even in transition. 3 min left in the game and Dawgs up around 10 Perkins calls the Dawgs off?! Played not to lose definitely not to win and it about bit him as Holmes fouled Ryle and put them on the line and they made it close hitting their freethrows.

This game to me was hard to watch, so sloppy!

Ryle slowed the Bulldogs down early and it was working for them. Went up I believe 8 or 9 points!

But a win is a win! Good job Lady Bulldogs!

Feels like we are saying it wasn't as close as it sounds, but Ryle held Holmes to 41. Did the height bother Holmes trying to finish around the basket?

And I'm not sure Holmes will be known for their outside shooting right? Did Ryle play a zone?

Holmes down 8 with 1 minute remaining in 2nd quarter. Bulldogs then reeled off 6 points lickety split to gain much needed momentum before half. Ryle did real nice job of limiting Bulldogs to one shot and denying offensive rebounds. Ryle's height definitely was a factor. But Bulldogs' defensive pressure was a bigger factor, especially in second half.

Ryle mixed defense a lot. Played some two three, some one, three, one and man to man. Holmes forced them out of the zone once they got the lead. Ryle has some very good shooters. Holmes pressure just works on you it seems. Not sure how many turn overs Ryle had, but at the half they had 17. Ryle is well coached and will be a tuff out come district time. Holmes didn't shoot well but got a nice win over a very good team.

Good early season match up between two contenders. Defense on both sides was key. Holmes full court pressure as advertised. Ryle handled well at times but as previously stated, the Bulldogs pressure will sneak up on you and 3 or 4 bad possession's in a row are turning points. On the flip side, Holmes struggled to score inside against the Lady Raiders. Pivotal moments in this game were very end of 2nd and end of 3rd. Ryle had the 8 point lead but Homes used their press to force 3 quick turnovers for 6 points cutting it to two at half. Both teams battled and struggled in 3rd to score but two key 3's by Holmes give them a 6 point lead which became a game changer. Holmes was able to pull the ball out and hold it at that point and pull the Raiders out to defend. Ryle PG fouled out in the 4th which hurt the Raiders as they went to the all guard set to attempt some pressure. Homes defended the 3 particularly well in closing minutes which left some driving opportunities that Raiders were not able to capitalize on. Congrats to Lady Bulldogs on the win. Perhaps we can see a rematch of this game down the road.

This game looked sloppy because the ref were to quick to blow the

Whistle for fouls and held balls. It is hard to play defense if the refs won't let you play. I saw bad calls on both sides of the ball but more so on

Holmes' side. It seems every time I go to a Holmes girls BB game they are playing against the refs. There was a charge called on Harris late in the game that wasn't close to a charge. Why does these type of calls continue to happen?

They hate Holmes. Obviously.

8th grader Scherr played PG for Ryle? Was she in foul trouble? How did she handle Holmes' pressure? I saw her play last year against them and thought she was outstanding as a 7th grader. Just wondering if they were denying her more than last year.

I caught just a snippet of Holmes' practice this past Monday.

In those few minutes I could tell that the young man coaching them (I don't know him) was in charge and knew what he was doing. Their record upholds this.

Quite to the contrary of what I witnessed a few years ago when I also had the chance to catch a snippet of a Holmes practice that bordered on disgraceful, when a lady who I will not name was coaching them.

Coaching does matter!!!!!

She played well! Good future player for Ryle.
