I love this time of year. Scrimmage winners: “we’re almost where we want to be.” Scrimmage losers: “we’re seeing what combinations work and getting the younger guys some experience.”

I don’t disagree at all. But it’s hard to argue with the success that either of them have had. I also learned a long time ago, coaching isn’t a democracy.

Haworth has always coached way. And he’s been quite successful at it. It’s not my preferred style, but he likes his teams to play with urgency. So he coaches with that same urgency. Coach Bibby at Central is the same way. I can’t imagine how exhausted they are after a game.

I heard the same thing. He is still listed on their roster. But it doesn’t look like they’ve updated it.

Pretty normal for the 15/16 region.

It really is a great campus scenery wise.... but so was St Catherine.

It happened Monday. Kind of sounds like everyone in the athletic department was blindsided. I know the basketball team was. Apparently the enrollment was down to around 500. If you think football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, track, etc, I wonder how may, if any, students that were left were non athletes.

Congrats to him. That’s a major program. They’d beat quite a few D1 schools. The word is that they’re following Bellarmine’s lead and going D1.

It’s about having good teams, but also about recruits that put butts in the seats. They always try to get schools that have talent being recruited by the area colleges. A UL offer is an automatic invite.

Touché. I just hate team/player rankings in general. Especially early in seasons. Best team wins in the end.

Why does it even matter right now? It’s early in the season. At this point, every ranking is an opinion.

If you trust Rick Bolus’s rankings for anyone, I can’t help you.

I would agree with that.

I like Morrison. His numbers are impressive. Conley by the way shot in the low 40s from the field and 33% from 3. So if you’re basing your picks on numbers, you aren’t taking him anymore, right? But who I take would be based on their all around game. Oh, and can they play both ends of the floor? Spencer and South Oldham weren’t exactly known for getting defensive stops last season.

How about one of them is committed to Auburn, and the other to WKU? Doesn’t take a ranking to know that means they’re 2 very talented kids.

Well. That field would include Justin Powell and Davion McKnight....

I agree. It’d be different if he popped up at Trinity, which I really thought would happen. But going from private to public, and a school his middle school fed into, shouldn’t be an issue.

St X took a huge hit with the transfer of Seb Dilliard to Henry Clay.

The actual reality about “summer ball” is that there really aren’t any rules. A kid could go play with anyone, and then pop up at another school. Integrity is one thing. But there are a lot of kids that will go play a couple of games with another school, and then not transfer. You think aau is the wild Wild West, go to a bunch of June games. You’ll recognize some kids from the day before wearing a different jersey.

I don’t disagree with you at all. I remember Quentin Snider playing for JTown as a 7th grader, then Fern Creek as an 8th grader, then summer ball with Eastern, and showing up at Ballard the first day of school his freshman year.

He’s technically not a “transfer” because he hasn’t started high school yet. He’s still an 8th grader. He played yesterday.

I’ve never heard of something on the college level like this that makes you cover your own expenses. Probably some type of money making scheme. Sounds a lot like those invites that go out to high school players about going to another country to play a tour and it “will only cost you five thousand dollars”

It’s actually pretty normal. An AD that’s over all the schools in the county. Elementary, middle, and high school. Most high school AD positions, especially in smaller counties, are part time jobs. This position fills those voids.
