2011 & 2012 Kentucky Future Stars (vs Tennessee)
You can follow the status of all former KY Future Stars via Twitter @Rhughes33rb. Big thanks to Coach Hughes for all he is doing for our youth - just my two cents but this is a great event for 7th and 8th grade football players in our state. Please see below for 2011 & 2012 All Stars moving on to the next level in college. Blake Asher - EKU Mason Alstatt - Wofford Connor Foos - EKU Devin Gentry - Georgia State Zy'Aire Hughes - Kentucky Devin Key - WKU Vince Lococo - Louisville Damon Lowe - EKU Max Martin - Louisville Nathan Murray - EKU Jailen Reed - Lindsey Wilson Please add if I missed anyone. The list should grow over the next few days. If memory doesn't fail me, Tennessee beat KY the 7th grade season in Overtime - blocked PAT. Kentucky lost the 8th grade version by a TD (televised on Fox Sports). Great memories and look forward to watching the list grow over the next few days - and keeping up with the guys over the next 4 years.

Trinity Shamrocks - Verbal Commitments
Congratulations to all of the Trinity Shamrocks from the class of 2016 making verbal commitments - it has been a pleasure watching so many of you going back to Little Legue football. Great group of young men. Rodjay Burns (ATH) - Ohio State Connor Foos (DL) - EKU Vince Lococo (LB) - Louisville Damon Lowe (LB) - EKU Max Martin (OL) - Louisville Jailen Reed (RB) - Lindsey Wilson Jake Woosley (QB) - Centre College Should see 3-4 more verbal commitments before National Signing Day for the Shamrocks. Several guys making final decisions with family over the next few days. Few more may take a little longer to make final decision. Big day in Louisville. Logan Butler from St X (LB/DB) also gave a verbal to EKU in addition to Male High School speedster Devin Gentry (RB) to Georgia State. Male WR Zachary Smith to Southeast Missouri earlier in the week. Sorry if I'm missing anyone but couldn't resist recognizing all the amazing talent we've been blessed with over the past few years.

Bryan Station's Andre Davis
SHOCKED by the lack of recruiting from the Racers in the Louisville area. Congratulations to Mr Davis - look forward to watching him make a big impact and getting the Racers moving in the right direction.

Simon Kenton's Dillon Powell Commits

Kentucky/Tennessee Border Bowl
Kinslow getting it done on offense as well!! Just my opinion, Kinslow and Rodjay Burns are the prize recruits in the 2016 class. Both guys have a legitimate shots at playing on either side of the football at the D1 level.

Trinity’s Steven Tompkins To Be Inducted Into Hall of Fame
Thank you for posting, Guru. I've had the pleasure of knowing Steve for a long time. Big honor for him to be inducted into the HOF and he is serious when he talks about assistant coaches, school administrators and players all having a big hand in this award. But, I'm forever thankful for the faith based work he is doing today - and the impact he is making on so many in and out of the classroom. My son had the pleasure of being around Steve in class and around school for 4 years. My boy has grown into a fine young man because of Steve and people like him around Trinity that put faith at the top of the priority list. Congrats Coach Tompkins!

True D-1 Talent
Where does Matt Elam fall in this discussion? Just wondering how the BGP'S audience feels about the example in relation to this topic.

Kentucky/Tennessee Border Bowl
Best of luck KY. Expect to see Damon Lowe and Sydnor (both from Trinity) with big games. I know both of them have been waiting to buckle up the chin strap since the Male game.

Associated Press All-State Team
Not seeing the kids play because of geographic challenges or staffing issues shouldn't be a problem in this day and age. Video technology is better today versus anything we've seen in our lifetime and available to anyone with a computer (pretty much the whole world). I personally don't have an issue with any list we've seen....in my eyes, all of the kids on AP or CJ are worthy one way or another. It will never be perfect. But, if you are going to submit a ballot or vote - you have to own it. Take the time to watch video...I've done this for the past 4 years and enjoyed every minute watching kids from all over the country. Take into consideration the performance when a team or kid is playing the WV/TN/IN/OH state champ or runner up (not so much the 300 yard performance against a 2-10 team). Plenty of room for improvement. Still doesn't mean the system is entirely broken - just need coaches and writers to take responsibility. Again...I personally don't have issues with any of the list. I do see a few head scratchers - but we will never have a perfect list. Congrats to all the kids.

Associated Press All-State Team
Congrats to all 6 Trinity players getting the well deserved recognition. Also, really nice to see some of the Male kids on the 1st-2nd team this time.

Congrats to Mr. Football - Kash Daniel
Congrats to Kash, his family, team and community. Great representative for the State of KY as Mr Football. Best of luck in the All American game. Hope all of our kids show the rest of the country what we're all about.

USA Today American Family-Insurance All-Kentucky Team
I would only argue that Kinslow IS NOT a 2nd team selection regarding ANY list put together for the state of KY. And, having zero defensive players from Male is still hard to digest.

USA Today American Family-Insurance All-Kentucky Team
Nobody left off either list on this one?

Trinity 63 Henry Clay 59
Keep it rolling Rocks! Way to go G-Money Schmitt. Soft spoken Senior leader of this team...doing his talking on the floor. Love this group. Looking forward to seeing them back at home!

Courier Journal All State list, finally
How about Dorsey from Manual for starters? His 3rd team selection is pretty funny. One of the top D Linemen in the state.

Courier Journal All State list, finally
Sending shout-out to Jacob Woosley - QB Trinity. Not even an honorable mention selection. Completed 71% of his passes for 2,330 yards - 28 TD'S and only 4 INTs. Added another 113 yards on the ground with 3 TD'S. Great job of leading the Shamrocks this year while playing WR/DB in the previous 3 years. Hard for all the kids to get the recognition they deserve especially when the Louisville coaches aren't voting. Appreciate Jason sharing that little tidbit.

Courier Journal All State list, finally
ATLCat...with respect, of the many things you have posted this year, I have to disagree with some of the comments regarding Male. Please keep in mind, I'm a Trinity fan. I've seen my share of football over the years and Zackary Smith (WR) and Jack Kurzi (LB) were as good as anyone I've seen for a while. Both players are more than qualified to be on the 1st team. MVP seasons on his side of the ball for the best team in the state in the highest class (ranked nationally). Kurzi made 2nd team all metro and I personally think that was a HUGE miss on the part of all writers/voters involved. I could argue every position from a Trinity perspective. Strength of schedule including the games against Brentwood, Ensworth, Male (2), X (2) and the 70-14 game against Lafayette obviously carry no weight. Our defense went against 5 star lineman, Ole Miss lineman, Tennessee Lineman and UK Lineman....only giving up a few TD's. Only 1 or 2 guys get recognized. End of the day, I can't really argue with the list. Congratulations to the kids...each one worthy of the accomplishment. Like most things regarding polls and voting, I'm sure a lot of people can find a flaw.

Courier Journal All State list, finally
Quote from Male Coach Wolfe... Coach Wolfe @LMHSCoachWolfe @kyhighs Surely a 15-0, Top Ten nationally ranked 6A team will be represented with at least 1 player 1st Team All-State?@MaleBulldogs

GO ROCKS!!!

Nine players nominated for Kentucky's Mr. Football award
Congrats to Rodjay Burns from Trinity. In my opinion, the best 2 way player in the state that may have the potential to play both ways at UL. Rodjay was a huge part of what we accomplished at Trinity over the past 4 years - especially in a really big way against Ensworth, Brentwood, Lafayette, Male (2) and X (2) this past season. Teams had to game plan to stay away from him on defense and keep an eye on him at WR. Also want to mention he didn't play the 2nd half of 5 games this year. Stats don't tell the whole story. Big honor just to be nominated. Congratulations to all the men on the list. I've had the chance to see Kinslow, Shelton and Alstatt. State of KY would be proud to have any of them as our Mr Football.

Lexington All-City 2015
Really great list and thank you for sharing. Compliments to all the coaches and especially the Lexington Herald Leader. Great way to recognize the student athletes in your community.

Trinity/Owen County predictions
One of the most entertaining Trinity teams I've seen. Nothing but grit and teamwork from this bunch so far. 5 or 6 different guys could go for 20 on any night. GO ROCKS! Can't wait to see this one.

Cooper's Keller Twins accepted to Rose-Hulman

Georgia High School Coach Headbutts Player
Thanks Coach! Really value your opinion since you are in the trenches. If you don't mind, and please correct me if I'm wrong - do you have deep roots in the Lamphley era? I just wonder how he would react to something like this. In my opinion, Lamphley is one of the top 5 guys to ever coach in KY. I guess I could ask him the next time we run into eachother (could have done it at the basketball game last night). Just wondering about his influence on guys coaching today and the way some of them may view the total opposite end of the spectrum. To each his own...and the guys on this board are 100% correct, I'm not qualified to judge Rush although we all have strong opinions. I've enjoyed the views of others in this discussion.
