  1. Saw this on facebook. Looks like a good win for the Cats. Anyone have any details?
  2. Nice district win for the Cats!! Ran and threw all over them. Defense still keeping them in check. Keep it rolling.
  3. Been waiting to see if anyone was going to start this thread. Including East Carter, Ashlands last 3 opponents have 4 combined wins at the time we played them. A few tough games ahead. What do we need to do to prepare for Johnson Central?... And before you say it, "taking it one game at a time is a start." That is a given.
  4. Big win Cats. Great job.
  5. Don't know, just heard he wasn't playing. No one knew any details.
  6. Any word on Kurtlan Brown? I heard he's not playing in the game tonight. Has anyone heard otherwise?
  7. Game day!!! Ashland wins this homecoming game and an injury depleted Boyd goes away sad. Ashland 46 Boyd 14
  8. Should be a good game at Putnam this Friday. Ashland is starting to click, passing game/running game are starting to complement one another. I look for Ashland to score 4 different ways: Running, Passing, Defense and a Field Goal. That should be too much for the Lions to handle. I'll give my prediction in a couple of days... I know you all will be waiting...
  9. Too much Rams for the Dawgs. Raceland 47 Lawrence 14
  10. I've been to a lot of stadiums in the state, and IMO, there is nothing better than Putnam Stadium when Raceland, Ironton, Russell and Boyd Co come in and play the CATS!!! People park blocks away walking through residential areas, through someone's lawn, and smelling the tailgater's feast as they enter the stadium. Great place.
  11. Very good game in all aspects, running, passing and kicking. Roberts with close to 200 yards rushing. Tomcats around 600 yrds of total offense... Impressive. Granted, Rowan is really bad. I hope they can turn it around in the future. Ashland averging 13 points a game, I didn't see this coming. Congrats to the Cats. Now, get back to work, the Lions come in next week for homecoming.
  12. Game day. Win the games you are suppose to win. Ashland 36 Rowan Co 14
  13. Oh my... Is Rowan that bad? I know they are 0-4, but a running clock? Yikes.
  14. Ashland is coming off back to back wins over Russell and Ironton, respectively. Rowan is winless. Thoughts and predictions...
  15. I so wish this game was being televised nationally. What exposure that would be for the kids and our neck of the woods. Good luck Pirates.
  16. Congrats Phelps, now, keep it going.
  17. Great win for the Cats. One of my biggest concerns was how are we going to score more points, well, tonight it was answered. Scoring came on both sides of the ball. Running, and passing as well as a scoop and score. Also I thought Collins and Dowdy did a very good job kicking. Collins kicked it high and short letting our defenders cover quickly. Ratliff really seems comfortable now 4 games in. He is really clicking on all cylinders. Great job, let's get ready for district play.
  18. Game day!!! It will be very difficult to win at Tank. Any team that is 39th in scoring in their class needs to find a way to score. If Ashland can find ways to score, I believe they will win. Ashland 12 Ironton 8
  19. This would be a great game to see. I believe Belfry by 3+ TD's.
  20. Same situation as everyone else, Ashland does not, and has not practice on Sundays for as long as I can remember. Monday: JV game/Varsity, film and walkthrough scouting teams, shorts and helmet Tuesday: Defensive practice, offensive team at the end, full pads Wednesday: Offensive practice, defensive team at the end, full pads Thursday: Walk through, film, team dinner, shorts and helmet-not for the dinner Friday: Game day Saturday: Film, if players want to watch Sunday: Church/rest
  21. They helped take over after the middle school coach was let go. Since then it's been a revolving door of dads coaching, not including this years 8th grade coach.
  22. Jermaine Keys - played and coached at the college level Isaiah Keys - played for the New York Giants as a free agent (never signed with the team)
  23. IMO one of the reasons they are on the rise is because Ashland let some really good coaches get away, and where did they land... Boyd. To me, you can't let people that have played at the highest level and have coached at the college level get away. You have to find a place for those guys. I totally understand what you are saying about Raceland and agree.
  24. I couldn't agree more, great person, helps the community, all of that is wonderful. My concerns are when he totally revamped the middle school system, which IMO, is still in unrest, along with some coaching decisions, i.e. kicking deep to GW two years ago, and playing all your starters in the Tates Creek game where we lost impact players. Then, there is the fact that some people have said that he has underachieved the past couple of year with the talent we've had. Again, I like Tony, I like his staff, I just think that he might be in the hot seat... if we lose to Boyd.
  25. I heard it was ugly. The safety was on a punt return. Said he fielded the ball inside the 5 and went backwards to avoid a hit and got tackled in the end zone. They said Adkins had a rough night with 2 pic 6's, and a lot of dropped balls. Oh well, shake this one off and get ready for Ironton Friday. Go Cats.
