  1. Very true, I just hope no injuries occur during this scrimmage. Getting backups key game type experience is extremely important. Keeping everyone healthy is also high on the coaches agenda. I know that the injury bug has apparently hit Spring Valley, with their all-state qb out. Again, hopefully everyone can stay healthy.
  2. With a makeshift OL, will Ashland have enough beef to keep Spring Valley out of their backfield? Stone (center) is out, Jordan takes his spot, but I couldn't see who took Jordan's spot at tackle yesterday. Either way, I hope the inexperience doesn't hurt them too bad.
  3. I agree with all of these. I'll add a couple more to this... Give the fans/bluegrasspreps something to talk about. Get backup some reps so you can create a functional depth chart. Make sure line play is consistent and center/qb exchange is consistent. Allow for mistakes and what needs to be fixed. Not show too much.
  4. Line play should belong to Spring Valley. I think the one lineman already graduated and went to Tennessee. Still, with him gone, SV should be hard to handle up front. Ashland, even though has Ryan and Jordan as seniors on the line, will need help keeping SV out of the backfield. Last year Ratilff was running for his life and was sacked numerous times if I recall. Hopefully, this year they can give him some time. The qb situation should be the one to watch. Ratliff will be Ratliff, run when he can and find the open receiver whenever possible. However, I've heard good things about Adkins at Spring Valley from his family. Their All-state qb is injured and Adkins should be taking the majority of the snaps. I hear that he has been throwing it around well for them. Should be an interesting game. Go CATS!!!
  5. Had a family get together today and wasn't able to make it to KCU 7 on 7. How'd we do? Who all was there?
  6. I stopped by today and it looked like Farley and Gregg were throwing a lot. Didn't see Colburn take any snaps, but that is what I heard early on... that Colburn was probably going to be the back up. Thanks for the update.
  7. Can't argue with that. I was impressed at how well he came on throughout the season. Other than the 2 JC games, he was on fire.
  8. Ok, no problem. Excited so see what this years team can do. JC will always be a stumbling block. I will say that I saw Adkins hudl on his grandfather's facebook. Looks like he's adjusted well.
  9. Sounds good number wise. I'm sure Ratliff is the fastest, but as well, Hester can give him a run for his money. I'll be out to watch during the next couple of days. With Adkins gone who will back Ratliff up?
  10. I know Ashland is going, who else will be there?
  11. Ok, not sure if I should post this, but it's an interesting talking point. A doctor in Ashland told me that he heard (second hand) that Johnny Lemaster is taking his crew (the Ratliffs and Collins') to Pburg. Not sure if this should be on the baseball thread, but I thought it was so close to football season that it should be on here, seeing that Lemaster's grandson is Ashland's QB. Any word down your way regarding this rumor?
  12. Is there a roster for the teams at this time?
  13. I've really enjoyed watching the games on my town tv. Haven't been able to make it out, but this lets me watch it at home on facebook. Good stuff.
  14. Ok, now that the defending 16th Region Champ, Greenup is out, who is the top contender for the 16th Region title?
  15. Does anyone know why Ashland isn't reporting? Just curious. One of the better teams in the 16th, and nothing to show for it...
  16. Stopped by Ashland's spring practice yesterday for the last few min of drills. They looked awful small up front. Has anyone watch all the practices? How have they looked? Looked ok to me. Ratliff was taking snaps, and called his own number quite a bit. Threw the ball well when they did throw. Talked to a couple people that said Adkins did transfer to Spring Valley. Who will assume the backup qb position? I couldn't tell who was taking snaps.
  17. Ashland faces off against Fairview this evening for a shot at the district crown against Boyd Co. and a chance to go to advance to the regional tournament. I believe Ashland will take this one by 10 or less.
  18. Tournament starts today at Ashland Blazer. Boyd takes on Rose Hill, while Ashland hosts Fairview tomorrow. Finals will be on Thursday. Who you got?
  19. Final from James A Anderson gymnasium. It was a game of runs. Congrats for Hunter Copley on a triple double. Great game.
  20. Final Ashland 61 West Carter 63 Heck of a game. Ashland just can't finish. Congrats to West Carter. Good job.
  21. lol!!! Correction the game is scheduled for this evening... 2/14
