  1. I know of a young man who was receiving some, not a lot, of attention from some colleges this past offseason before his senior year. He worked hard in the weight room, got his weight up to where these colleges wanted it, and then boom. He has an injury in practice and then injurs it further during the first game and has to miss the rest of his senior season. How much does this injury affect his recruitment? How many schools are going to take a chance on a kid that missed his entire senior season?
  2. I'm with JBin though. How do not score more than 13 points with three division 1 offensive linemen?
  3. Russell will have no problem with Bath. Devils 49 Wildcats 14
  4. Upset of the year was Fleming Co. beating Russell.
  5. Russell had no reason to call a timeout after the turnover with under a minute left in the first half to score again. You'd think 48-6 would be sufficient for a half time score but I guess 55-6 gave Maynard the cushion he wanted.
  6. Sometimes an underdogged school getting into the playoffs and playing a competitive game against a heavyweight is what that program needs to take off. Yes, we're taking our lumps this season, but I don't think we would have won 24 games in the last 4 years at Lewis County if it wasn't for that 4-7 2009 team that made the playoffs and gave Belfry a scare for a half. This program needed that 27-point loss to a state power to jump start the improvement to the program we've seen over the last 5 years. All games are important and all scheduled games should be played.
  7. 4 seeds give 1 seeds good games every year and even sometimes a 4 seed will upset a 1 seed. Shouldn't eliminate those games because a few are lopsided. There are lopsided district games in every district in the state too, but they must be played. FOOTBALL GAMES ARE PLAYED ON THE FIELD, NOT ON PAPER.
  8. Yep. All those years that Ashland got whalloped by Highlands the mean ole KHSAA shouldn't have put those poor, poor Tomcats in that position. Bologna.
  9. Well, that was the plan. The plan was to build around him this year but he suffered a hamstring injury in our Midnight Madness scrimmage which turn out to be more serious than previously thought. He has an avulsion fracture on his pelvis, when the hamstring muscle pulled, it pulled a piece of bone off with it. Without knowing it was that serious, he tried to come back three weeks later in the greenup game and hurt it even more. He tried rehab and physical therapy to get back and when he thought he was ready he was running routes to get back into rhythm in practice the week of the Fleming game and reached out for a ball and the same hamstring pulled again. His doctor recommended he get surgery after that and he is scheduled for that at 9:45 am this Thursday. It's really unfortunate that he had to miss his senior year as he was set to have a big season after all the hard work he's put into the weight room. He still wants to play college football so hopefull a team takes a chance on the kid. They'd be getting a good one.
  10. It's been a long season full of injuries to key players. Just hope our boys can get through this one injury-free. I really feel if we don't lose our 3 best players either for the season or majority of the season that we win at least 4 games this season. But that's football. You play with the hand you're dealt. Good luck to both teams this Friday.
  11. More I think about it the more this game reminds me of Russell vs Lewis County in 2011. Unlike that Lewis County team though, this West team's strong suit is their high-powered offense. That Lewis County team thrived off its defense. I do still say that Russell wins, but it won't be easy. I will say the score will be 35-32 Red Devils.
  12. Lewis County vs Nicholas County 2011. Lewis was down 30-19 with around 5:00 left in the game (after trailing 18-0 at the start of 2nd half). QB Levi Clark found WR Jarrett Park on a wheel route for a score to make it 30-25. Nicholas got the ball back and just had to rely on their strong ground game (Caleb Pope was one of the top backs in 1A that season) to run out the clock. At about the 2:30 mark one of NC's RB's busted outside on a run and WR/CB Jarrett Parker stripped the ball out of his hands and took it to the house for the score. Lewis County ended up winning 33-30 after Nicholas turned the ball over on down the next possession. Great high school football game.
  13. If Everman is able to go for Lewis I'm going to say the Lions win 22-20. If he is not I'm going with Greenup 28-14. Yes I think he makes that much of a difference. What he brings to both sides of the ball cannot be replaced by anyone else Lewis has.
  14. Yes coach has to have your email and put you on some kind of list where when you login the team page is up and available for viewing. I'm not 100% sure how it works. My younger brother is on the team so I just use his information.
  15. I believe the TD's scored for Lewis was a Gage Yates kickoff return and an Austin Evans rushing TD. Good job by the Rams. I was unable to attend this one but I will be watching it on HUDL as soon as it is posted. Good luck this season Rams!
