The Courier Journal: Seven Finalists Named for Mr. Football
Sindelar had a fantastic career and season, but my, how quick do we forget Corey Robinson's record breaking senior season at Lone Oak High School. That's not a knock on Sindelar, just saying that someone else has put up similar or better numbers since Couch.

Who will be Mr. Football this year?
While that is true he should also realize the work these kids have put into this sport. At 6'1 230 Smith is not going to go anywhere to play OL. But that is a very respectable size for a D1 LB. I just feel like the coach left Smith out to dry by moving him to the OL. Even if it was the best move for his team.

Who will be Mr. Football this year?
Number two ranked recruit in the state and the coach switched him to OL? Did he play OL on offense and still played ILB on D? I don't understand why a coach would make this switch on a young man who is getting attention from D1 schools unless he gained too much weight to be effective at the position. Coaches are supposed to help their kids be successful and get recruited but sounds like this coach hurt this kid.

Christian Academy Louisville 81 Whitefield Academy 62
What? You mean Whitefield doesn't get to carry points over to this game from their 90-7 thrashing of RedBird?

High School Conferences.
The schools that are in the EKC fluctuate when it comes to different sports. I know Lewis County, Fleming County, Bath County, East and West Carters, and I believe Raceland are members for each sport (football, boys and girls golf, girls and boys basketball; not sure if they do it for baseball and softball). Rowan and Russell participate in basketball but not football. Fairview may still be in the conference as well. Morgan County may also.

The Courier Journal: Seven Finalists Named for Mr. Football
Let me rephrase that then, I can't believe he's not a finalist for the award.

The Courier Journal: Seven Finalists Named for Mr. Football
Can't believe Belfry's Austin Hatfield didn't get a nomination.

Best Hudl Highlights Ever?
At the beginning it showed that he had multiple offers from D1 schools? UCLA, Washington St, and Oklahoma among them.

East Carter 60 Lewis County 57
I had not yet heard that but I did hear his father, Don, a long time member of the school board here in Lewis County is very ill. Wish nothing but the best for the Hampton family, they are good people. Sounds like the Lions played much better in this one than their 16 point loss to the Raiders a week ago. Anybody have any stats for this one?

Dilfers Dimes
You can see the play on Beau's highlight video on HUDL from the state championship game. Very poor camera angle though, you don't actually get to see the receiver catch it.

I'm interested to see if Lewis bounces back and plays a better game against East tonight.

Class 3A Districts 5 & 6 Playoff Picture 2015
District 5 in 2015 will be tough to call as Fleming and Lewis lose a lot. Lewis has quite bit of experience in the upcoming senior class, but varsity experience falls off hard after that. I think with Fleming, they graduated most of their impact players from the last two years, so 2015 may also be an uphill battle for them as well. Other than Russell, Bath and West Carter most likely bring the most back (I know nothing about Pendleton County). I think the two-seed and a home playoff game will be a dogfight between Lewis, West, and Fleming next year. I see Pendleton and Bath as the two looking in from the outside and Russell as the heavy favorite. That's for district 6, in distrct 5, I expect the teams to finish as they did in 2014 with Belfry beating Russell in the Regional Championship. As for 2014 if this was a real scenario, the only place we disagree is I believe Fleming County would have beaten Pike Central in the first round.

Class 3A Districts 5 & 6 Playoff Picture 2015
Thoughts/predictions? Below I have listed the teams in each district and how they would have finished (by head-to-head; if no head-to-head games, by record) in 2014 if in the same district, along with potential first round matchups. District 5: 1- Russell (11-3 in 2014; Lost in State Semifinals) 2- Fleming County (7-4; Lost in first round of playoffs) 3- West Carter (5-6; Lost in first round of playoffs) 4- Lewis County (5-5) 5- Pendleton County (3-7) 6- Bath County (2-8) District 6: 1- Belfry (13-2; State Champions) 2- Lawrence County (9-4; Lost in Regional Finals) 3- Pike County Central (6-6; Lost in second round of playoffs) 4- Sheldon Clark (1-10; Lost in first round of playoffs) This would have resulted in the following playoff match-ups: (D5;4) Lewis County at (D6;1) Belfry (D6;3) Pike County Central at (D5;2) Fleming County (D5;3) West Carter at (D6;2) Lawrence County (D6;4) Sheldon Clark at (D5;1) Russell How does everyone think it will shape up in 2015? Same? Similar? Some major changes? Remember the above is just a hypothetical projection based on how the teams finished in 2014.

Rank 4A top ten for 2015
Don't pay too much attention to him, tomcats. I'm not even a NKY football follower and even I've noticed he takes a shot at CovCath every chance he gets.
-
East Carter 72 Lewis County 56
So much parity in the 16th this year it's hard to give a for sure ranking. They're somewhere in the top 8.

2015-2018 Approved Football Realignment
Forgetting about Russell. 1978 (2A) and 2005 (2A).
-
2015-2018 Approved Football Realignment
In some cases I see it as okay. I know Bath County and West Carter did not want to be in 2A and have to travel 2-3 hours for every away district game being that there are no other 2A schools in NEKY. I have no problem with those two schools playing up in 3A and having closer drives to their district opponents.

Who should be Kentucky Coach of the Year for 2014?
TJ Maynard-- Russell. Returned the Devils to many plateaus that they had not experienced in the last 6 or 7 years. A District championship, and a state semifinal appearance in his first season at the helm.

Best Freshmen in your district?
That is the 63rd District. Another good one in our district is Isaac Kelly of Lewis County. Definitely not on the same level as Hughes, but the youngster did have 12 points for the Lions off the bench in their loss to East Carter. I know Russell has some talent in the younger grades as well, but can't remember their names.
