I've heard that while Jordan didn't get cut altogether in high school, he did not make the team to dress varsity his sophomore year and only played JV. Again, that is just one version of the myth I've heard.

Eddie Scott, Harold Billman, Howard Schumate, and Tracy Shunway all also deserve mentions here and could be in the starting 5. I am a young buck and admittedly have only seen Smith and Clark play on my list. One that could fall in here if he would have stayed with it in high school was Mark Blevins. Blevins graduated in '89 and was the QB of the last Lewis Co. football team with a winning record until the 2011 football team accomplished that goal. Blevins started varsity for the Lions in 85-86 as a freshman and 86-87 as a sophomore. He scored 40+ two or three times his sophomore year from the PG position. Legend has it he had an argument with the current coach before his junior season and called it quits on the hardwood for good. What could've been.

To me, in this case, the foul should have been called. The defender "wrapped up" the offensive player as to seemingly keep him from releasing a shot on time. It looked blatant, and intentional, and should have stood. I paused it on the slow motion version and the foul occurred right between 0.3-0.1 on the clock. If the officials determined that the call was made after the buzzer sounded, what can you do? But if the head ref said, "Blow it off, we don't make that call this late." I have an issue. And that's only because it was obvious and looked intentional to me. The foul mentioned in this thread looked more like it was a flop and incidental, miniscule, contact was made. In which to me you "Let 'em play" and move on to overtime. The above video is definitely a foul, the one in question in this thread is not, IMO.

Anybody know enough Greenup County basketball to make one for them? The obvious one is Mike Scott at center, who after that?

She more of a big forward or a wing forward? Just curious because if Anderson of Lewis had such a good game against her and she had a bad game against Anderson, just makes me wonder about Anderson's stock as a college recruit.

What position does VCU-signee Skinner play?

Maybe golden sunrise or GRC Hoops can give us some insight on what resulted in the large final margin.

This Lewis County team is very good. It's been the "team we've been waiting for" since these ladies that are seniors were in middle school. Anderson and Emily Frye have been seeing varsity time since they were in middle school. Mackenzie Thompson has also developed into a very nice player to compliment those two. We are missing another big, in Erica Blake who played alongside Anderson since they were in grade school but she opted to not play her senior year. Coach Fite's daughter Jaycey is only a junior but has been playing travel ball with Emily Frye and Anderson since they were in grade school and she is as sharp a shooter as they come. She can go off with no warning. If there was ever a chance for Lewis to win the 16th in girls basketball, this would be the year. It just so happens to come on a year that Ashland and East Carter are absolutely loaded. I don't know much about GRC, but unless they are a top 5 team in the 10th, I'm not at all surprised by the final margin.

Paris will come out of the 10th in the All A, Morgan County will come out of the 16th.

Still think baseball and softball should be required to provide stats as well.

Then what is the point of this bylaw? To make sure football teams post stats and that's it?

Ruggles and Fite were very, very good from what I have heard. They are both great coaches for the girls basketball team at LCHS as well. :thumb:

If Tollesboro and Lewis County were consolidated from the start there would have been some great teams in Vanceburg back in the day.

Wonder how old Shunway and Schumate are... Never heard of them and don't see them in the 1000 point club the school posts online. I was very close to putting Eddie Scott in my top 5 but wasn't exactly sure what position he played.

SF- Tyler Clark ('04) PF- Jim Bloomfield (school's all-time leading scorer) ('78?) C- Billy Howell (6'10") ('95?) That's just a stab at it. I'm sure some of the older LC fans could put one together a little bit better but that's what I came up with.

I was going to say that it was likely not all schools file stats for tackles, and even the ones that do may not be entirely accurate. Congrats to all the above on outstanding seasons, however.

Still bothers me that some schools who are 3A in football compete in the All A and some do not.

District 5 vs district 6 in 3A could pit NKY Pendleton County at EKY Belfry. Has to be excess of a 4 1/2 hour trip. The closest potential matchup between those district is Russell and Lawrence County and that is most likely not going to happen until at least the second round.

I believe Morgan County competes in the All "A" do they not? If not someone correct me. But if so I believe they will be a tough out coming out of the 16th. Point guard Jordan Perry can fill up the stat sheet.
