Speed kills. I had faith in my Raiders but West is too fast and we are slow. If speed is equal in this one it's a different game but it's not, West is fast and you can't coach that. I wouldn't be surprised to see West win their district again this year and making it as far as Belfry before what will happen to anyone in 3A. Hoping we can get the consistency that West has with a coach, we've had 6 since Kevin was hired the HC. I do believe if they stick with Champlin that'll happen. Good luck to West this season!

East has it

Hoping for a good competitive game that East comes out on top of! Cometman, how much speed compared to last year do you believe the Comets have?

Josh Ford for East Carter and Buddha Brown from West Carter may not be the best but they're both really solid backs. I haven't saw Braly this year but his stat line could support the claim for best back. Conley from Russell is a heck of a back, as is Bailey Walker from Raceland. Warnock from Greenup is solid too.

It didn't feel like it at all. The best plays for East in that game were the two or three times Raceland murdered our punter LOL I don't think the outcome would've been different, but if our two receivers who got hurt would have opened the offense a little. Hopefully they're okay for this week, in what I'm hoping is a good game.

IMO Raceland is a top ten team, better than Russell and Paintsville. Good job though! I could see Ashland actually beating Russell

I would take the 13 Raceland team over the 14 one. The line on the 13 and 14 teams were not as good as this team though, this team just doesn't have that do it all player. But they have a workhorse, playmakers, and a guy who can get the ball to them. I don't know how good Paintsville is (they just beat the defending state champs in their class) but the winner of the Raceland Paintsville game is going to state (talking playoffs if they meet)

Not taking away from the truck but it was on a sophomore who probably is 105 pounds soaking wet who tackled way too high, he learned after that though. That was his welcome to varsity football.

The two starting receivers got hurt creating no versatility in the offense, our starting fullback got hurt, a few others as well. The receivers were starting DBs, and Raceland could throw at will after that. Without those injuries it wouldn't have mattered, that's the best Raceland team I've watched play in years. The two interior DLinemen were great, the depth of the linemen is crazy. That Raceland team could go all the way, they have a workhorse, playmakers, and a guy who can get it to the playmakers. If this team had a Connor Messer it would be a no brainer. Good luck to the Rams the rest of the way!

I said don't put a cupcake on the schedule. I would like to see this game replaced with a Lewis or Bath for us. Is this the last game on the contract?

I don't like it. Do I understand? Yeah. East has been playing Raceland, Fairview, and Lawrence as tough out of district games. I'm not saying put a cupcake on the schedule, but those teams have been very good the last few years and East hasn't been able to beat them. While trying to turn things around they need as many wins as possible to get community support, it's tough here. Hopefully in a few years things are different and we can be playing Raceland again competitively.

Since East will be playing Saturday, the middle school will be playing their games on Friday this week. 7th graders are 3-0 so far, 8th graders 2-1 Games start at 6.

A few players other than Ford that can make an impact for East Carter: DT TE Josh Salmons has played 4 years and started 3 QB Taylor Hickle, smart and athletic and has a good arm on him. Junior Kane Phillips, younger brother of the graduated Darin, is a WR and I think was moved from CB to OLB this year. Senior Gabe Limings is a really nice DL, he's quick Junior There's others that could make an impact and have all played significant varsity time like Drake Dunn FB LB, Caleb James WR DB, Tanner Duncan OL DL, Kieran Fankell FB/TE LB, Camren Staton OL/DL. Don't know who of the sophomores or freshman can contribute, but this is just a list of guys I feel will help out the Raiders.

Fleming has a strong junior class so yes Fleming has gotten better, Mason has gotten worse though

Pretty sure this game was ended early due to injuries for West Union. Prayers for them and good luck the rest of their season. Get ready for Raceland boys, they look tough two games in but you all have put in the work just like they have.
