Big win for the Rams!

Rams with a humongous win!

Congrats to the Rams and good luck the rest of the year. Hopefully Ashland can get Roberts back and once Brown is eligible again they can improve every week.

Good game. Ashland young and will get better. Congrats Rams!!! Good Luck the rest of the season!!!

Big win for Raceland. Raceland's offense came out with an excellent mix of runs and short passing game in first two drives that led to TD's. Davidson showed excellent poise, The Rams O and D lines dominating, size and strength. Raceland's Defense dominated the game.

Ram Turnovers hurt,. A fumble deep in Tomcat territory led to Ashland's only TD in 1st half, a mix up on pass route led to interception, killed a drive. Rams D steps up big with a pick in endzone to prevent another Ashland score. Raceland's D held Ashland to 18 yds. rushing in 1st half.

Raceland's D came out strong and stopped the first Tomcat drive of 2nd half with a 3 and out and then throw interception with interception the first drive in the 3rd qtr ....another interception on Tomcats 5 yd line ....3rd TD left on field by Raceland. Ashland started moving the ball well in the 4th qtr. after Rams D had dominated the game with a TD drive w/ less than 5 min. left. Rams D then stepped up to block the xp kick, keeping a 1 pt. lead. Raceland tried to grind it out in the final 4 + minutes and drove the length of the field, ending with a TD but missed the xp, leaving Ashland 7 pts. behind with 1:16 to go. Rams defense

My final thoughts, keys to game were ....Ashland's D got past the Rams O line only once for a sack. Raceland's O and D lines pushed Ashland's lines off the line of scrimmage all night. Ashland's Coburn was good running the ball, has good speed

I am happy with the Win, this team needed it for a confidence, statement stand point. I expected, the Rams coaches and players Expected to win. Having said that, this one shouldn't have been this close.........Raceland Cannot Keep Making Mistakes, leaving TD's on the field !! Arrggh ! the Rams should have at least one more TD in 1st half, another one in the 2nd half,, Two TD's missed.

Also, Good Conditioning by both teams showed up in heat, not a lot of cramping ... maybe 2 or 3 for Ashland, 1 for Raceland with no one leaving the game.

RAMS ... Enjoy this one tonight, then come in - meet Saturday and get ready for the improved East Carter team ....2 down and 13 to go !

Good Luck to the Tomcats the rest of the way this season ,,,win em' all.

I wanted to say THANK YOU to GOREDDEVILS for posting updates. I was having a rough time with my constant battle with this disease (MS) tonight and could barely type.

Congratulations Rams, nice win.

I'd like to congratulate Raceland in a hard fought, well played game and the win. Ashland made a lot of mistakes and Raceland took advantage of them. Line of scrimmage was dominated by the Rams. Ratliff was running for his life all night. Cobur is a very good back. It did hurt not having Roberts in there. As well, Brown will make a difference when he returns. Our offense was just stagnant all night. You have to move the ball. On defense, you have to get out on third downs. It will come. I wish Raceland a good year. Well get better.

Not a Problem, it was a great game to listen to and as always Dicky Martin was hilarious.

Raceland's Jerome Hall after the game

Sounds like Raceland spent a lot of time in Ashland's backfield. The Rams DL will be a handful for everyone they play this year. Getting this win at Putnam could springboard Raceland toward a special season. Can't savor this win for too long, though. Gotta keep grinding.

My take aways...

1. Nathaniel Davidson is emerging as a very good QB and has grown leaps and bounds since last year.

2. The recievers have grown up since last week.

3. In general the passing game is starting to click.

4. Bailey is solid and faster than last year. Judd, and Damon are solidifying the back field. Damon just needs to get down hill quicker, much like he did on the last drive. Judd Adkins is slowly making his way to being the number 2 back. These two along with Octavious, will be key in our offense going from solid, to explosive.

My biggest take aways though:

*This is the most conditioned Ram squad I have seen, maybe ever.

*Our DL is going to give people fits this year but our LB play has to get better. They had no answer for Isaac, Jerome, Tyus, Christian, Morgan, or Justin Fairchild. There was NO GETTING THE EDGE. Whitt, Bays, and Bailey have to do better getting to the inside gap quicker and wrap the heck up. When the pocket collapsed, Ashland found their only offense on a scramble. Big difference though, is our team speed kept those 20 yard scrambles from being 50 yard TD runs. Also, our DBs played great outside of one or two plays. Josh Clark's deflection was huge.

This game shouldnt have been a game, should have been a 38 point production. We are growing though. Like what I am seeing.
