  1. Everything you mentioned above is summed up in the phrase, "JUST WORK HARDER AND GET BETTER". It is an all-encompassing statement. While everything that you mentioned seems astronomically impossible it is not. It is absolutely feasible with the right outlook and vision. The big dogs have it. Why can't the others strive for it. JUST WORK HARDER AND GET BETTER.
  2. I like Ohio's system. Think about this. Moeller, mighty Moe, didn't even make the playoffs this year. Ohio goes off of conference records, overall records, and a point system. Do away with the, "Every gets a trophy and gets to go to the playoffs", thing and make the district competition a little tougher. Go back to the old days where 2 teams make the playoffs out of each 4 team district. That will force the have-nots to try to get better so they can beat the haves. Shipping out good teams and good schools accomplishes nothing other than showing our student athletes that it's okay to run away from the fears and not have to try or work hard to be the best. They can just hide from the best and then beat their chests as if they accomplished something when they win a tarnished trophy. I will say this as well. From a recruiting standpoint, if the national tournament thing happened then very rarely would you see a kid from one of the schools still competing in the state get a scholarship. Those scouts would be flocking to the national tourney scene and not even looking at the jimmies and joes. I know that I would be sending my son to one of the schools that competed in a national tourney. Regardless of whether he was a star or not that could be the only place a recruiter would look at him for a scholarship. The talent in the state could be hugely watered down and that would definitely take the "Everybody gets a trophy thing" to the next level. As for separating the public schools from the private ones, I saw a post earlier in here that said that only 1 private school won this past weekend. The Nazi Klansmen who keep calling for a separation are the same people pushing the "Everybody gets a trophy" thing so that every backwoods hick and their brother can sit in the local diner and remember "Back When" they won a district, regional, or state title. JUST WORK HARDER AND GET BETTER!!
  3. I know but I found the exact geographic center point which is probably in a cow pasture somewhere. They could put the center point at the center of the 50 yard line. They also the Makers Mark Museum around there. I have been through there a few times. There is a Holiday Inn and plenty of Bates' Motels. LOL!!!
  4. Scratch E-Town. It needs to go here with the same ideas as mentioned above. The geographic center of Kentucky is located in Marion County, 3 miles NNW of Lebanon. Longitude: 84° 30.4'W Latitude: 37° 21.5'N I live in NKY but I this would be awesome. Green River Lake isn't that far away and the fishing is good there too.
  5. This is spot on and whoever argues this or says something else happened is just fooling themselves or they are playing the poor me card.
  6. Just more proof that the players and coaches are low class. Shame.
  7. Regardless of where the home team chooses to have their bench we all need to remember that this is high school football. Coaches are supposed to be leaders and good examples. Lafayette is the lowest class group of players and coaches I have ever seen. They even top the group from the top of the hill in Newport surprisingly. That said, Lafayette couldn't be stopped tonight and unfortunately came out with the win. They were big and fast and just outplayed the Pioneers. No excuses. Also with that being said I hope Male puts up a running clock in the first half and shuts Lafayette up real fast.
  8. I just went through this last year with my son. The coaches will ask for a verbal but the student/athlete absolutely cannot sign anything (Even if they are an early enrollee). One coach who offered my son a scholarship basically demanded his verbal intent and stated that they were recruiting 5 other kids at his position and if he didn't give the verbal that they would take the first 2 kids who did. My son walked away from that offer. Point being that nothing and I mean nothing is legally binding until the NLI is signed in February or after FOR EITHER PARTY. So if the school moves on then they move on. Now, generally the school will honor the offer if the offer is in writing. My son received numerous offers in writing but obviously nothing legally binding until he signed his NLI. The school and the coach generally will not want the possible negative publicity of revoking an offer to a student/athlete without cause but that's not to say it couldn't happen.
  9. Oh I have seen video replays of games. I am not naive to think that those are not the best 2 6A football teams in the state. I was very impressed. No doubt. My argument is that Underdogs can win and believe a lot of times that they can. Whether they do or not is a different story. I have cheered for the underdogs my whole life and will continue to do so.
  10. I'm not confusing anything. Apparently you may be. I am talking about underdogs in general. It doesn't matter what level you are at. Whether it's peewee, high school, college, or the NFL. Florida Atlantic almost beat 9-1 Eighth ranked Florida today. I'm sure the FAU players believed that they could win in some facet. Any level at any age is big boy football. I dare you to tell me that my 11 year old doesn't believe that he can win the game every time he steps on the field whether he's playing the best team in the league or not.
  11. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas. That's why they play the game. It was a great game on a terrible field that both teams had to combat. You forget that SK's kicker missed an XP too. SK came out on top.
  12. That they did but they were still the dogs and had a 6-4 regular season record. Anything can happen in the playoffs, folks.
  13. I was driving. I think there is a commercial saying you shouldn't do that.
  14. Actually I'm a grammar nazi but 8 beers definitely blur the tying skills. Lol!!
  15. Please read the post again. Stating facts is not whining.
  16. Great game and great season, Eagles!! Totally changed my outlook, along with many others, on your program this year.
  17. Stringer being out hurt tonight and will hurt down the road. It may end up hurting too much. We'll see.
  18. Much to my dismay, nobody is stopping the Thoroughbreds until they get to Mayfield where the road ends.
  19. You should have you BGP rights revoked. Just a foolish statement there.
  20. Why? Do you have any logic to back that up? You have doubted them all year yet they keep winning? Please explain.
  21. Truth be told, CovCath hasn't had the talent to compete with Highlands or any of the other big boys in 20 years. CovCath, much to the dismay of alumni and fans, is a soccer and basketball school. You can even throw some really good baseball teams in there but they are nowhere near interesting or relevant in football, haven't been in 20 years, and may never be again. Those of you who argue against that fact are just fooling yourselves. This is a one sided rivalry. Matter of fact it isn't and probably won't be a relevant rivalry ever again.
  22. Oh yeah, and my son was on the State 2A Championship team at Covington Holy Cross. Remember them? The team that everybody said wouldn't beat NewCath? The team that everybody said would never beat Glasgow? Guess what. There is a sign when you drive into Latonia that says Holy Cross Football 2011 State Champs. Any Given Sunday my man.
