Newport Central Catholic 20 Covington Holy Cross 13
Time for me to man up. Talked to my source and he told me that it was the right call. Touchback. Great game. NCC better get better disciplined and stop the penalties. I won't see either team, more than likely, for the rest of the year. Best of luck to both. Gotta go with the underdogs and cheer for the Indians. Go Tribe.

No but the returner touched the ball in play. It is the same as if he touches it at the 30 yard line and the punting team picks up the ball UNLESS he was blocked into the ball. At that point it would be a dead ball. It is my belief that he was not blocked into the ball but then again I've been wrong before. Just ask my wife.

And will have the opportunity to review the tape. If I'm wrong I'll be sure to admit it.

I didn't dispute his opinion. His opinion is not a ruling since, as far as I know, he is not an official. I will find out from my source who is a VERY WELL RESPECTED official and let you all know.

AGAIN!! I WILL GET THE FINAL RULING FROM MY SOURCE AND LET YOU KNOW!!

The ball was touched in play and rolled into the end zone where it was picked up by the punting team. TD!!!

The penalty count and severity of the penalties WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE!! Hang your NewCath hat up and call a spade a spade. C'mon!!! Really??? I never said HC were angels but come back to reality. Ask your NCC coaches what their penalty count and penalty yard comparisons were. That will tell all.

Simon Kenton 22 Boone County 0 (Frosh)
Simon Kenton's defense was outstanding with a big stop in the red zone and another goal line stand. Simon scored by pounding the ball with the running game in the first half. The best things that I saw from Boone was that their defense put a lot of pressure on the Simon QB however he responded by scrambling and outrunning them to the edge but then the SK line is not very good right now and they look more like bullfighters yelling Ole!! Boone also has a nice TE who can catch and Simon had trouble stopping the TE Dump into the seam.

Once again I will let you all know when I find out. I am man enough to admit if I was wrong. I just hope that if I'm right that the NewCath fans will suck it up and take it like a champ. Of course it's irrelevant at this point but if they run into HC in the playoffs and don't change their ways it may be an early playoff exit for the Breds.

Once again, I am an unbiased third party. I saw what I saw. I have a reliable source who will be looking at the refs arbiter system who will let me know after he reviews the tape and I will let you all know what it says. Until that happens I stand by the fact that I believe it should have been an HC TD. I will say this again though. NewCath is an undisciplined team and they earned every penalty the got called on them. Very dirty as well and they got caught multiple times tonight. If NewCath has any chance of going deep in the playoffs their practices will be the worst and hardest they have ever experienced to remind them that penalties and dirty play will not be tolerated or condoned.

IMO he was not getting out of the way. IMO he was skiddish and danced around nervously because he got drilled earlier in the game but what do I know.

Horrible officiating gave this game to Newcath. I am an unbiased third party just there because I thought I might catch a good game. It was in fact a great game but the officials took it away from the Indians on a botched punt return by NewCath. Smith was unsure of what to do with a punt because he got blown up on a punt return earlier in the game. The ball bounced off of him at the 3 yard line. HC picked it up in the end zone on what should have been an Indian TD. They ruled it a touchback and NewCath ball. On the other side of it NewCath was very heavily penalized. I firmly believe that they are undisciplined and if they run into the Indians in the playoffs they may run out of luck.

What? No hate messages on the young Pioneers yet? I'm surprised. Good game tonight. Defense looked great when it counted most and the RB and QB are getting better. Wait til some of these young Pioneers are Juniors and Seniors.

Steve Frommeyer is the best in NKY by far and probably the best in the state.

Boone County vs. Simon Kenton (Frosh) Preview
Simon Kenton is 0-5. They really have not played a complete game yet and have been in games or ahead at halftime so it is hard to tell what they do well consistently. From the top, the QB is a solid runner when he makes the decision to run. Their backs are bulls when the run straight ahead. Their defense is solid when it attacks instead of reacting. The only thing that could be said right now about SK that they do well consistently is that the QB is their punter and is a very solid punter.

Cream of the crop this year?
All good points about Scott and Beechwood. I guess I forgot about them. 2 of the very best teams in NKY. Can't wait for baseball season.

Simon Kenton 42 Highlands 3
Already played and beat Cooper. Also beat Bryan Station and Dixie (6A last year). No one, Ryle, and Campbell next.

Covington Catholic 29 Simon Kenton 8 (Frosh)
Because Farfsing is the best linebacker on the team and Gangwish is the best QB on the team. Coaches coach and critics observe without knowledge of what goes on on the sideline. These kids will be tops in NKY at their positions in 3 years.

I'm a good Catholic fish-eater. Just because not all of us can pony up the tuition anymore doesn't mean that we can't send our kids to the 6A public schools and still pick up a filet-o-fish in the drive thru. Hahahahaha!!!

I have no bone with NewCath. I am stating what should be obvious. Is 2A that weak in the State of Kentucky that a 1-3 team is ranked #7 in the state? If 2A is that weak then it's a sad state of affairs. I have no affiliation with any 2A teams and was just browsing the thread. I find it amazing that NewCath is ranked so high because of previous year's reputations. I am affiliated with 6A teams and I promise you this. Unless your team is Trinity your team cannot, simply would not, be ranked in the top 10 in anything with a 1-3 record. You NewCath fans should have a little more self pride and not pound your chests because you won state titles in the past. This team cannot win one this year for sure and maybe in the next 3 or four.

How is NewCath even in the discussion???? While they have have played a little better NKY talent they got mauled by Belfry and they will get a run for their money against Cov. Holy Cross and Lloyd. While I understand Lloyd being in the Top 10 now, NewCath shouldn't be getting a sniff. I guess reputation from previous years counts for something here. (Snicker). If anything, Covington Holy Cross should be in the mix in the bottom of the poll. NewCath isn't even close.
