I should probably check the other Beechwood thread, but how many players does Beechwood have on the team this year? How many guys will probably end up playing both ways? Or is it to early to know?

I don't know, for whatever reasons I can see the tigers knocking off the blue colonels. But you're right. CCH and DH will be really tough games. I think it will be tough, but doable, to go 8-2 with there schedule.

Conner graduated its best skill players. Don't know much about Cooper but hear they are still in a rebuilding phase but they should be improved. Scott is probably the fifth best team in Kenton County.

Looks like a good schedule for Beechwood. A few tough games that will help the tigers. Any one care to try and predict a record?

Yeah, but the game against Villa Madonna is going to be a thriller.

It is going to be a fun and interesting year in 6A between Ryle, SK, and Dixie, that's for sure.

Reading Hood's twitter posts, a lot of people are on his side. A saw a few tweets saying that Scott County uses Toyota to give good athletes parents jobs. That just sounds a little far fetched for me.

Ryle should be much improved but it will be hard to develop a quarterback to run a new offense in one summer. Ryle will win more games this year but lets see how they look on the field instead of a record on paper. I have thought that Ryle had great potential for its athletic program, although I am not at all saying its program is bad. As of last year, Ryle had the second most boys in NKY. They had something like 15 less boys than SK so they are basically tied for 1st. The finally have a good foundation in their feeder program and have a very talented group of sophomores. Ryle also draws a good portion of its students from one of the wealthier parts of NKY. I think Ryle is setting itself up for a good amount of success down the road.

When do they BGP preseason rankings come out? Or have they already?

Extremely impressive. What do you think is the main reason for NCC's success? I know they have always been a solid program but that have really turned it up a notch, as far as advancing deep in the playoff. Is it going to 6 classes or are these NCC teams simply better than those of the 90's?

Anyone who played high school sports probably has a story from every game they played where certain kids ran their mouths. Doesn't mean it's a bad school and doesn't really mean they are a bad kid. I remember times when I thought to myself wow did that kid really just say that. But in the middle of a game, especially a contact sport like football, emotions run high. The kid could have easily been semi hurt on that play and demanding everyone to get off of it so they can walk it all real fast before the game. I am not condoning bad language but teenage kids cursing during a football game is not really a big deal. Also, you basically said by that story that because a student attends NCC they are expected to act better.

Who are the other top teams in NCC's side of the bracket?

Dixie....but it was close between DHS and CovCath. One guys opinion only, of course. That's who I figured. The CCH - Dixie was very close but that was also the game where CCH lost their starting QB and RB. I believe their replacements each had a fumble that resulted in a turnover. But at the same time Dixie had a few turnovers. After last year I will probably be leaning towards Dixie in the match up between the two this year. But this wouldn't be the first Dixie team the lose to a CCH team they should have beat.....

Personally, I had CovCath as the 4th best team in NKY last year. Highlands - definitely SK - debatable but there is a solid argument to be made and I wouldn't agree or disagree. Who is the third? Just curious.

The Boone county school district has had a growth of around 350 boys at the high school level in the past 6 years. Cooper maybe could have been placed a little differently but after looking at the numbers it was probably needed. But Ryle has more boys than it did before the opening of Cooper while Boone and Conner have about 200 less each. The money for schools comes from property tax doesn't it? Is there that much more tax money in Kenton County? Remember there are 5 different school districts in Kenton County.

I am in favor of open enrollment within school districts. Do not see why districts close themselves. But if one school benefits that usually mean another school is hurt by it. Also, the question that needs to be asked is at what point should a school be split? At what point is enrollment to big? If Ryle and Cooper were combined (using current enrollments) their enrollment would be pushing 2900 students. I know when you say they should have been combined that would have changed the districts sending more kids to Conner and Boone but that would make the Cooper/Ryle school one of the biggest in the state. I do not know if their was really a need for a fourth school but before Cooper opened the other schools were at or above capacity. They probably should have expanded the schools if possible (although Boone looks pretty landlocked). But Boone County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. A fourth school was going to be needed eventually. Maybe the BOE thought they were better off doing it earlier rather than later.

I always thought Cooper was placed in an odd area, but I guess that is what they had to do to help all three high schools of over crowding. But according to the Boone County, the 2010 population was 118,000 people. The estimated populations of 2020, 2030, and 2040 are 153,000 , 186,000, and 217,000 people respectively. I don't think the county's populations will reach those marks that quick but if those numbers are close to what actually happens then 4 high schools was going to be needed sooner rather than later.

Boone County was state runner ups in 86', 87', 92', and 94'. They made it to the semi finals also in 83', 88', 89', 90', 93', and 97'. They might have thrown 20 passes in all of those games combined. I believe two of the state game losses were by 3 points. A couple of the semi final losses were in over time or by one score to the eventual champion. A real story of what could have been with Boone in the 80s and 90s.

This is going to be Dixie's year to take the district. I hope the really pull it together this year but only after week 1

You'll also sometimes see teams go 5 wide receivers a lot or , if they have a running back in, will release him out of the back field every single time for a pass. Never made since to me to run a style that you're not going to run in a real game.

Why do they get so much more than Boone?
