Ram Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 What does Dixie Heights need to do to improve in 2014? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
Clyde Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Seems like they have some nice talent returning. IMO they need a more consistent passing game. If that happens then it opens up the running lanes even more for Drew Moore.

If that happens then it opens up the running lanes even more for Drew Moore. The definitely need some receivers that can setup up and separate from the defender, which is something they haven't had in a few years. IMO, this was the only area that really held them back last year. They also need a couple players to step up and fill the void of Seth Caple. The kid did everything for them last year.
NKY Bandit Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I'm a big Drew Moore fan but for him to get to the next level and be 'elite' in NKY, he has to develop a passing game. I don't necessarily think it's all receivers. Hope that Drew has a great spring and summer and comes back in the fall with more confidence in the passing game.
uk#1fan Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Six foot 240 pounds Owens is going to have another great year.
Content1 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 After two consecutive 3-8 seasons the Colonels completed a very successful 8-4 campaign in '13 thanks to good senior leadership, line play, and team building. This years group looks to improve on last years efforts. Dixie Student-Athletes to watch for '14: Seniors Luke Caple DB Ethan Harrison OLB Andrew Hedger TE/DE Branden Johnson OT/DT Colson Machlitt DE/FB Drew Moore QB Ben Owens LB/FB Luke Zajac LB/RB Juniors Ethan Schulte DB/K Gunther Faeth DB/P Michael Penick DB/RB Noah Caple LB/TE Keegan Barmore DL/FB Depth at the skilled positions will be a strength. Going to be difficult to maintain or improve upon their graduating lineman. They set a very solid foundation for success. Re-establishing the lines will be key! There's a good group of underclassmen which will provide more depth and may surprise a few upperclassmen for varsity playing time. Winter workout numbers have been great and the team building continues going into spring. If and when it gets here! The future looks bright for Dixie Heights Football.

Content1 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 My apologies, I forgot the proverbial what are your thoughts? Or what do you feel are the Colonels strengths and weaknesses going into August are ?
uk#1fan Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Dixie will be pretty tough if they can move the ball through the air.
Content1 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 My apologies, can a mod please link the two threads, I was not aware there was another thread opened. Thanks RAM for the Dixie Colonel interest.
Drunk Johnny Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Dixie has been building the program the right way and have very good coaches at the helm. They took their lumps with a younger team a couple years ago but stuck with it and now have a good system and talent in place. They should be very competitive this year in a so so 6A district. If they stay healthy could make some noise in the playoffs.
oldoc Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Coach Brossart has really done a nice job with this program and has made them competitive. Some receivers to step up would be nice. Drew Moore is an excellent athlete, but I don't think he will be a Qb in college. He will be an amazing receiver if a coach can see his talent versus being blinded by his qb skills. He is a pretty decent Qb and will be just fine because of his athleticism, but to compete for a title, Dixie will have to do alot with read option or play action passes for Drew. One way or another, Coach Brossart will have them well coached and Drew will be one of the best athletes on the field at all times
autopart101 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Dixie has to find a WR. The power run game works well but not if your down a few TDs. Dixie in 2014-2015 should be on of the top in NKY.
oldtiger Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Branden Johnson is the best football player on the team. State wrestling champ also. Expect a big year from this great kid.
