Seems like they have some nice talent returning. IMO they need a more consistent passing game. If that happens then it opens up the running lanes even more for Drew Moore.

The definitely need some receivers that can setup up and separate from the defender, which is something they haven't had in a few years. IMO, this was the only area that really held them back last year. They also need a couple players to step up and fill the void of Seth Caple. The kid did everything for them last year.

I'm a big Drew Moore fan but for him to get to the next level and be 'elite' in NKY, he has to develop a passing game. I don't necessarily think it's all receivers. Hope that Drew has a great spring and summer and comes back in the fall with more confidence in the passing game.

After two consecutive 3-8 seasons the Colonels completed a very successful 8-4 campaign in '13 thanks to good senior leadership, line play, and team building. This years group looks to improve on last years efforts.

Dixie Student-Athletes to watch for '14:

Seniors

Luke Caple DB

Ethan Harrison OLB

Andrew Hedger TE/DE

Branden Johnson OT/DT

Colson Machlitt DE/FB

Drew Moore QB

Ben Owens LB/FB

Luke Zajac LB/RB

Juniors

Ethan Schulte DB/K

Gunther Faeth DB/P

Michael Penick DB/RB

Noah Caple LB/TE

Keegan Barmore DL/FB

Depth at the skilled positions will be a strength. Going to be difficult to maintain or improve upon their graduating lineman. They set a very solid foundation for success. Re-establishing the lines will be key!

There's a good group of underclassmen which will provide more depth and may surprise a few upperclassmen for varsity playing time. Winter workout numbers have been great and the team building continues going into spring. If and when it gets here!

The future looks bright for Dixie Heights Football.

Dixie has been building the program the right way and have very good coaches at the helm. They took their lumps with a younger team a couple years ago but stuck with it and now have a good system and talent in place. They should be very competitive this year in a so so 6A district. If they stay healthy could make some noise in the playoffs.

Coach Brossart has really done a nice job with this program and has made them competitive. Some receivers to step up would be nice. Drew Moore is an excellent athlete, but I don't think he will be a Qb in college. He will be an amazing receiver if a coach can see his talent versus being blinded by his qb skills. He is a pretty decent Qb and will be just fine because of his athleticism, but to compete for a title, Dixie will have to do alot with read option or play action passes for Drew. One way or another, Coach Brossart will have them well coached and Drew will be one of the best athletes on the field at all times

Branden Johnson is the best football player on the team. State wrestling champ also. Expect a big year from this great kid.

I think Owens is better.
