Congrats Coach. Enjoy your retirement. You did a great job at every stop and you touched the lives of many young men. You have left your mark on High School football in KY, particularly West Ky. Despite your shortcomings, which we all have, and some morons on message boards love to point out you have had a great career and deserve to be celebrated in your retirement.

I think they should start freezing the scores when one team reaches the running clock. If they want to keep playing that's fine, but the scoreboard is locked. This would encourage many teams to just let a bunch of young kids play the games out.

Do some of you guys not like seeing 6 state games. I agree it is watered down somewhat but the state games have been mostly competetive and having more champs only increases the interest throughout the state.

So my JV kid that is on extra point and field goal on Friday night's can't play on PAT anymore? Terrible idea.

You put David Fowler and Jonathan Jackson back on this year's Mayfield team and they would be fine against Beechwood.

Hoptown will win 37-35 but will then have to forfeit resulting in a FS win 35-37.

Go read the comments the coach made after Mayfield beat them 21-10. I believe he was quoted as saying "We just beat them to death." Really?

That is what Murray people do, unfortunately. Just go read their paper. When they lose it was because of penalties or mental errors and they are actually the better team. When they win it's because they are so awesome. They never give any of their opponents any credit for beating them. Ask most Western Ky fans and they will verify this. It is the main reason they are despised by many Mayfield fans.

Cody Crider is the most underrated player in the state.

The problem with Grant is all the parents and players think they know more than the coaches. No matter who the coaches are, they know more. Who cares if the fans show up? If the kids will buy in and their parents will shut up and support the coaches they will get better. Otherwise, they will continue to get the same thing they have always gotten. Hey Grant Co. you have good coaches and you will get better if you believe in them and play the game.

Pretty solid analysis of each opponent! The only part I would somewhat disagree on is the status of Thomas Nelson, Washington Co., and Shawnee. I think they are very weak along with Crittenden and Ballard. I have said this before, I also think Murray is better than Bardstown. We are over analyzing in this debate though. These 3 teams will get a chance to slug it out!

Love that Crittenden got votes. This used to be a bitter rivalry that has now turned friendly.

They are all worthy of #1 ranking. It's really irrelevant except to us pundits. It will all play out in few weeks. OCath isn't getting much love though. Why aren't they in the top ranking discussion?

I do not see this turning into the shootout some are predicting. The most pts either team has scored in this series is the 42 Caldwell scored in the first game last year. In the last 6-7 years the most Murray has scored is 28.

The FBZ (free blocking zone) is 3 yds on either side of the LOS. All shotgun teams are at least 4 yds deep so for a cut to be legal in shotgun the cut would have to occur before the QB even caught the snap. Not possible. Every ref you talk to will have a different interpretation of the rule. I say either eliminate cut blocking altogether or legalize it.

I don't see how a cut can legally happen it the team is in shotgun. The ball "immediately" leaves the free blocking zone.

I have been told by referees that TEs are not allowed to cut because they are outside of the tackle box. Is this the interpretation others have heard?

Once you forfeit for something like this your season should be over. This is ridiculous and unfair to Desales. They knew this at the beginning of the year that fall break was going to occur during this game and for them to up and forfeit the week of the game is a joke. Thumbs down, Fort Knox.

Ed Smart IS one of the most underrated coaches in the state. Anybody that consistently has .500+ season at Grayson County is a genius and I cannot believe a school with a better football tradition hasn't snatched him away.
