Congrats to Coach McMillen! He was one of my favorite teachers growing up and hopefully he breaks out the guitar to sing some American Pie after the teams wins!

His first two years were on Pence’s freshman staff as an assistant.

Another thing with Pence we need to consider is that while it’s been at the Freshman level, he’s been a head coach. He has established team rules, he’s led fundraising, he’s handled equipment changes, he’s budgeted. He’s done the little things/background things that may give him a one up on someone without coaching experience.

Give me a guy who can move in and out of cuts quickly and separate that way as opposed to flat speed all day.

My sources say it would not play into the calculations.

Pence from Cooper would be my choice as well. Ludlow alum, was on the team that snapped the 30 game losing streak, and has been the Freshman head coach and a varsity assistant with Cooper for 9 years now I think.

Who is to say a young coach with a decade of experience wouldn’t be the best coach? Far too often, the smaller schools are looked at as stepping stone jobs. Get someone who wants to be a part of the community and build it the right way.

IMO Ludlow needs to go with a young coach who has ties to the school. The last external hire at Ludlow was Steve Hensley who helped get the program back on track. Ludlow currently has alumni coaching on a few staffs (Cooper and I think Dayton) and I’d be trying to bring people in who know the school, the community, and want to stay and build the program.

The Freshmen team is very impressive as well, and that’s not having the anticipated starter at QB. Definitely a bright future coming up for Cooper.

Cooper or CCH are coming out of this district. Coach Borchers teams have always turned it up in the playoffs.

You have to keep playing, even if they’re going for two. You don’t like it, stop it.

Coach Borchers and staff have the team rolling. Also, this might be the best uniform Cooper has had. Really like the white helmets!

Far too often kids from NKY are passed over. A ton of talent in the area.

To back what @futurecoach has said, you're going to have complaining with every team.. And predictability also comes with every team. When you're an offensive coach, you're going to add new plays on a weekly basis but you're going to have 8-10 plays that are your bread and butter plays. These are plays that you can run from multiple formations to get different looks, but at the end of the day its the same exact play. I know from my days of coaching, every single team we prepped for we could identify their 10 best plays, rep those, and be prepared for the game. When we were coaching, if the team came out in certain formations in certain situations, you knew exactly what play they were going to run. It's called tendencies for a reason. As for the coaches not wanting to coach anymore, Futurecoach is completely right. At some point, the complaining and bickering by parents gets you to a point where you're just done and the enjoyment of coaching isn't worth the additional stresses that are caused. Remember that these high school coaches are essentially getting paid pennies on the dollar to spend an extra 20 hours a week away from their families to help your child. Obviously not calling anyone in particular out.. just stating things that I observed during my brief career.

The Freshman/JV team look strong as well. Good to see the pipeline full for Cooper!

Hmmm I’m not sure. I know a couple of my good friends are still on staff but as far as new additions, I’m in the dark!
